Chapter 8: There’s a Little One in My Belly

Looking at the two corpses that were beyond saving, Luo Qiqi angrily kicked them a couple of times.

There was a sound of something falling.

She walked over and saw a small piece of gold. She hadn’t expected these raiders to be quite so wealthy.

“Well, I can’t let this go.”

Luo Qiqi squatted down and began rummaging through their belongings. In the end, she only found a string of copper coins.

Luo Qiqi: “…”

What a waste of effort.

The gold must have been something they had stolen from somewhere.

She casually put the knives from the two men into her spatial pouch. The knives looked well-made and shiny, so she figured she could keep them to use for cutting vegetables later.

Looking at the two bodies lying in the middle of the road, she realized she couldn’t just leave them there. What if someone comes across them? That would be bad.

Honestly, even in death, these guys wouldn’t let her have a peaceful moment!

With no other choice, Luo Qiqi resigned herself to dragging the bodies to a hidden spot.

Thankfully, she had eaten some ice dew earlier, which had significantly increased her strength.

While secretly celebrating her physical improvements, a sharp pain suddenly shot through her abdomen.

Not only did she end up in this world because of a time-travel mishap, but now she was fleeing a disaster and carrying a child. Was Heaven truly so unkind to her?

She sat down and rested for a while. After the pain in her abdomen eased a little, she slowly began to make her way home.

Luo Qiqi placed her hand on her belly, and suddenly, she felt a small movement inside.

She quickly pulled her hand away, startled by the strange feeling.

When she gently placed her hand back, she felt it again.

The little one was interacting with her!

It felt like one big and one small playing together, happily.

Unknowingly, she had already walked out of the village, and at this moment, Luo Qiqi’s mindset had completely shifted.

She had unconsciously started to embrace her role as a mother.

The village was quiet under the moonlight, with no sign of people around.

The villagers had either left or fled. Very few remained, and those who did were too cautious to light any lamps at night for fear of being discovered.

Luo Qiqi recalled that those bandits had apparently hidden their spoils in the old, dilapidated house at the edge of the village.

She remembered the two bandits had mentioned it while begging for mercy later on.

“The most dangerous place is often the safest place!”

Luo Qiqi thought to herself as she lifted her foot and headed towards the old house nearby.

To the average person, the dilapidated house with its open door would seem eerie and frightening.

But to someone like Luo Qiqi, who had lived through the apocalypse, it was nothing.

Without hesitation, Luo Qiqi stepped right into the house.

Although her spatial pouch had a lot of supplies, it was inconvenient to take them out. The items here were perfect for the time being.

So, Luo Qiqi had no qualms about taking them!

She rummaged around the old house, and after some effort, she managed to pry open the floorboards of a bed.

The stash was well-hidden!

If it had been someone else, they likely wouldn’t have found it. Most people would take one glance at the rundown house and leave.

Who would bother searching the place when it looked like nothing was there? Even rats wouldn’t have bothered visiting this place under normal circumstances.

Looking at the pile of things she’d found, Luo Qiqi was very satisfied.

Those two bandits had really collected a lot. There was a sack of coarse grain, half a basket of potatoes, and a small bag of cornmeal.

There were also some clothes and bedding, like cotton quilts, tattered clothes, even scissors and an iron pot…

Truly, a wide variety of items!

Luo Qiqi waved her hand, sending the items into her spatial pouch.

After thinking for a moment, she packed a basket with clothes that looked like they had some bulk but were actually quite light.

With the basket on her back, she now had a convenient cover when she needed to take things out of the space later.

She quickly made her way home, since she had wasted a lot of time. She didn’t want Luo Father and her younger brother to get too anxious.

When she got back, the two had already packed up their things.

They were standing in the yard, looking at Luo Shitou with concern. When they saw Luo Qiqi return, they all turned to look at her.

“Let’s see what she decides. Is she planning to leave on her own, or go with the people from the old house?”

Luo Qiqi didn’t care. As long as they didn’t rely on her, everything was fine.

Luo Father saw the large basket on Luo Qiqi’s back and asked her about it. Luo Qiqi truthfully told him what had happened.

After hearing her explanation, Luo Father opened the basket to take a look. “Those bandits really had a lot hidden. I was just worried we were running low on food.”

“Now we’re set! Hahaha!”

Seeing all the food, Luo Father breathed a sigh of relief. This would last them quite a while. The escape wouldn’t be so difficult anymore.

When Luo Qiqi had first entered the house, she had already placed some of the food she found in the basket on her back. She had done this to cover up her findings for Luo Father’s inspection.

“Have you packed everything? Once you’re ready, we should leave. The sooner we go, the safer we’ll be.”

Noticing that Luo Shitou was standing empty-handed, Luo Qiqi asked curiously as she returned to her room to get her things.

She didn’t need much. There was only a small bundle she had packed earlier, which she had left in her room.

Luo Shitou, noticing the large basket on her back, showed his understanding and quickly offered to carry it for her.

“I’ve already packed. I was just waiting for you to come back before we leave!” Luo Shitou replied.

The Luo family had a quick discussion and decided to take the mountain path.

Trying to follow the main road to catch up with the larger group was impossible. Even if they left tonight, the raiders on horseback would catch up with them by morning.

It was simply too dangerous.

Although the mountain path was rarely traveled by people and had plenty of dangerous creatures, Luo Qiqi wasn’t worried. She had her spatial pouch, after all.

Additionally, Luo Qiqi had her own plans. Since the mountain path was seldom used, it would be a great opportunity to find some energy-supplying resources for her sprout.

Once it gained enough energy, it would be able to help her with some of the work.

Of course, it was Luo Qiqi who suggested the mountain path, and Luo Father agreed.

Luo Shitou, of course, fully supported his sister without any hesitation!

With their plan decided, they were ready to set off.
