“Can’t you read something serious?” Lu Huai pinched the kitten’s nape, “Don’t listen to this nonsense.”
The kitten finally snatched the phone, huffing, “It’s not! I’m going to be a CEO too.”
“Tsk.”
Lu Huai frowned, “Didn’t you say you wanted to be a police officer last time?”
Niannian argued, “But police officers have to stand outside, it’s too sunny!”
Lu Huai patted his butt, “You’re such a spoiled brat.”
Niannian pretended to put his arms around Lu Huai’s neck, “Anyway, I want to be a CEO, and buy a big villa for my brother.”
The little cat had already learned to paint a rosy picture.
“Thank you, CEO Nian,” Lu Huai smiled, “Then I won’t work hard, our Niannian will be responsible for my happiness in the second half of my life.”
The kitten raised his chin, “Just wait and see.”
On the way back, Lu Huai bought the kitten a cup of milk tea. It was the kitten’s first time drinking it, and he was so happy he was about to bubble over. After finishing the whole cup, he smacked his lips, “Brother, can I drink it every day in the future?”
Lu Huai said coldly, “No, because I won’t agree.”
The kitten’s eyes widened, “Not even if I become a CEO?”
“Even if you become president, you can’t.”
Lu Huai urged him, “Go take a bath, it’s so late, you need to go to bed after showering.”
Niannian still had the habit of being a cat, he hated taking a bath. At first, Lu Huai had to hold him down to wash him, but later he finally learned, and every night, Lu Huai had to coax him to take a bath.
After coaxing the kitten to take a bath, Lu Huai washed his underwear. After the kitten turned into a human, he didn’t have any self-awareness and never did any chores himself, as if he was born to be served by Lu Huai.
Just like now, after taking a bath, the kitten lay sprawled on the bed like a cat, his legs on Lu Huai’s body, waiting for Lu Huai to cut his nails.
Niannian thought for a while and couldn’t help but ask, “Brother, where did you go today?”
Lu Huai didn’t hide it, “I went to tutor someone.”
The kitten became anxious, “Why tutor others? Brother, why don’t you come home and tutor me?”
“Shh, don’t move, be careful you get cut.” Lu Huai patted his leg, “Elementary school textbooks are too difficult, brother doesn’t know how to teach them. I’ll tutor you when you get to middle school.”
The kitten pouted, “Big liar.”
Lu Huai pretended not to hear.
The kitten was not easily fooled, and he kept complaining until he went to bed, listing Lu Huai’s crimes.
“Alright,” Lu Huai closed his eyes, “Go to sleep, little ancestor, I’ll let you do whatever you want tomorrow.”
The kitten was quiet for a moment.
Lu Huai was really tired, and as soon as he closed his eyes, he was about to fall asleep, when he suddenly felt something wet and soft on his cheek.
He was startled and opened his eyes sharply, meeting the kitten’s innocent round eyes.
Lu Huai’s heart was pounding, and he suddenly sat up, startling the kitten.
He closed his eyes and suppressed his anger, “What are you doing without sleeping?”
The kitten said aggrievedly, “I haven’t licked you for a long time.”
Before, when he licked his own fur, he would also lick Lu Huai, but Lu Huai thought he was just playing around, usually just extending a finger, letting the kitten lick and bite.
Lu Huai’s voice became cold, “Haven’t I told you, you can’t lick randomly, you’re a human now, not a cat.”
Niannian whispered, “You said it’s not allowed outside last time.”
“It’s not allowed at home either.” Lu Huai’s voice was very stiff.
The kitten was completely angry, and he actually lifted the quilt and stood up, “Why are you yelling at me! I won’t lick you anymore, I don’t want to sleep with you, I’ll go sleep on the sofa!”
If it were when he had just become human, the kitten would never dare to lose his temper like this, but these days, Lu Huai had spoiled him quite a bit, making him a little unruly.
Seeing the kitten angrily about to leave, Lu Huai grabbed him and pressed him back onto the bed, “You don’t even know how to lose your temper, and you’re going to sleep on the sofa yourself, you should make me go sleep on the sofa, understand?”
The kitten pouted, “But I don’t want you to sleep on the sofa.”
This sentence was like a needle piercing a balloon, popping it, and all the anger dissipated at once.
Lu Huai patted him and whispered, “Then don’t make trouble, go to sleep, I shouldn’t have yelled at you, I apologize, our CEO Nian is magnanimous, don’t bother with me.”
Niannian snorted and turned his head to ignore him.
Lu Huai didn’t speak anymore, tucked him in, and lay down, but this time, he seemed to have lost his sleepiness.
The kitten next to him was carefree, and soon fell asleep soundly, even snoring.
Lu Huai was both angry and amused, he turned his head to stare at his chubby cheeks, wishing he could bite him.
It wasn’t until the middle of the night that he finally fell asleep, but he didn’t sleep comfortably, there was a stuffy feeling in his chest, hot enough to burn his insides.
It seemed that in his dream, the kitten licked him again, his pink tongue soft and wet against his cheek.
The next morning, the kitten was awakened by the sound of water.
He got up with messy hair, walked to the bathroom, and rubbed his eyes, “Brother, are you taking a shower?”
After a while, Lu Huai’s voice came from inside, “Sweetheart, sleep a little longer, brother will take a shower and then cook for you.”
“Okay.”
The kitten obediently turned around and went back to bed to sleep soundly.
In the narrow bathroom, the slightly cool water fell on Lu Huai’s body, but it had no effect.
He was still hot.
Author’s Note:
From now on, let’s call him CEO Nian [sunglasses]
It had been raining for the past two days, and the temperature had dropped. It was almost summer, but a cold wave inexplicably blew in from somewhere.
The kitten sneezed when he got up early, and Lu Huai immediately nervously touched his forehead. Fortunately, he didn’t have a fever.
“Don’t go out today, we’ll order takeout tonight,” Lu Huai said with some guilt, “Brother will come back early tonight.”
The kitten clung to his clothes, “I want to drink milk tea.”
Lu Huai was speechless. Since he bought milk tea for the kitten that day, the kitten had been thinking about it, wishing he could have it three times a day.
“Don’t dream,” he said cruelly, “You won’t be able to drink it this week, study hard at home, I’ll test you when I come back tonight, and you won’t be able to drink it next week either.”
The kitten lay back down listlessly.
He became a little cat pancake.
Lu Huai made wontons in the morning, a steaming bowl sprinkled with some chopped green onions, coaxing the kitten to eat a little.
“Brother is leaving,” Lu Huai was still a little worried when he left, and told him, “If you feel uncomfortable, call me.”
The kitten weakly said goodbye to him.
Niannian didn’t have much of an appetite. When Lu Huai was around, he still pretended to eat, but as soon as Lu Huai left, the kitten quickly burrowed back into the bed.
Listening to the audiobook on his phone, he was drowsy and about to fall asleep when a phone call came in, directly waking him up.
The kitten picked up the phone and saw that it was Xu Mingbai, and his 起床气 (qi chuang qi – getting up anger) immediately came.
He was only obedient when he was with Lu Huai.
“What are you doing! I’m not going out today!”
Xu Mingbai sincerely invited Niannian to watch a horror movie at his shop.
He was the kind of person who was both scared and loved to watch horror movies, he dared not watch them alone, and had to have someone to keep him company.
Niannian didn’t want to answer him, it was warm in the room, he didn’t want to go out.
Xu Mingbai talked him into it, finally saying he would pick him up on his electric scooter and take him to the newly opened milk tea shop on the street to treat him to milk tea.
Niannian finally perked up.
He hesitated, “Then I’ll drink two cups.”
Lu Huai’s words were completely forgotten. The kitten was coaxed out by two cups of milk tea, and only when he went out did he realize that it was really cold, especially sitting on the electric scooter, when the wind blew, the kitten sneezed several times in a row.
He rubbed his nose, and only then did he feel a little guilty.
Brother shouldn’t find out that he secretly went out, right?
.
After school, Lu Huai called Niannian as usual. The phone rang for a long time before it was answered. On the other end of the phone, the kitten’s voice was hoarse and muffled.
“Brother…”
Lu Huai’s heart rose, as if it was being squeezed by a big hand, his throat tightened, and his voice was anxious, “What’s wrong?”
Niannian huddled under the covers, feeling dizzy. After watching the movie, he came back, even so, he still caught a cold, but he didn’t dare to say it, for fear that Lu Huai would scold him.
The kitten sniffed, “I have a little headache, just a little.”
Lu Huai felt infinite regret.
He must be sick, he should have taken a day off to stay home with the kitten today, instead of leaving him at home all day, he must be very sad now.
He picked up his schoolbag and rushed out, in a hurry, but the words he spoke were gentle and coaxing, “Sweetheart, wait for me at home, brother will be right back.”
Lu Huai practically ran back, the same distance as every day, but he shortened the time by half.
As soon as he entered the door, he threw down his schoolbag and went straight to the bedroom, dug the kitten out of the bed, and touched his forehead, it was burning hot.
Lu Huai’s face was very ugly, and he directly picked him up, “Get dressed, let’s go to the hospital.”
As soon as he heard about going to the hospital, the kitten was about to cry.
He was most afraid of going there.
He remembered getting very sick once when he was a child, and Lu Huai left him in the hospital. Not only did he have to sleep in a cage every day, but the cat food he ate wasn’t his favorite flavor, and most importantly, he couldn’t sleep without Lu Huai holding him.
“Don’t go to the hospital, brother, don’t go,” Niannian hugged Lu Huai’s arm tightly, his eyes red.
But Lu Huai wouldn’t indulge him in this matter.
He didn’t speak, holding Niannian’s waist with one hand, and the other hand was free to dress him, pants, clothes, and even socks, kneeling on the ground to put on his socks, but the kitten was still making a fuss, crying and unwilling to go, kicking one foot onto Lu Huai’s shoulder, “You’re going to send me there again, and you won’t take me home.”
