The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s Chapter 31: Changing Clothes

Soon, Qin Tianru took out a pink knitted cardigan, a white floral blouse, and a pair of light blue jeans from her storage space.

“Do you think these will work? This is all I have left—just one more dress in storage.”

She didn’t have many spare clothes in her storage space. Aside from two winter outfits, these two sets were all that remained. Since they still had a journey ahead of them, the dress was out of the question.

“Alright, this outfit will do,” Qi Han reluctantly nodded.

With no other options, he had to settle for this one. At least it was better than the short sleeves and shorts. Given their current circumstances, they had to make do for now. They could change again once they reached the county town.

“I’ll wait for you outside.”

With that, Qi Han turned and walked out of the cave.

A few minutes later, Qin Tianru emerged, now dressed in her new outfit, and flashed Qi Han a sweet, well-behaved smile.

Staring at the refreshed Qin Tianru, Qi Han’s gaze froze for a moment, a flicker of admiration—something akin to amazement—flashing in his eyes.

From the first moment he saw her, he knew she was beautiful. Even in her strange attire at the time, it hadn’t detracted from her sweet, delicate features.

But now, dressed in this pink-and-blue spring outfit, she seemed even more charming.

Her long hair had been twisted into a side braid draped over her left shoulder, with a few wispy strands framing her face, making her delicate features appear even more refined.

Though she was only about 1.6 meters tall—not particularly tall—her figure was slender and graceful. The jeans hugged her legs snugly, accentuating their even, straight shape.

All in all, she gave off a youthful, sweet vibe.

Under his prolonged gaze, Qin Tianru’s cheeks flushed slightly. “Do I look okay like this?”

On her feet, she wore a pair of white sneakers—one of only two pairs of shoes in her storage space, the other being a pair of black snow boots.

Now that spring had arrived here, the days were warm under the sun, though the mornings and late nights still carried a chill.

Snapping out of his daze, Qi Han realized his behavior had been somewhat impolite. His ears grew warm, and he responded with slight awkwardness.

Ahem. “It’s fine.”

For some reason, he recalled a friend’s ramblings about how to please women, and before he could think, the words of praise spilled out.

“You look beautiful!”

Qin Tianru, who had been feeling a little disappointed, immediately brightened up at his words, as if instantly satisfied.

What girl didn’t enjoy praise from the opposite sex? Especially when it came from the person she liked. Qin Tianru was no exception.

On the contrary, she particularly cared about her appearance, meticulously coordinating her outfits and even taking the time to garnish her dishes when cooking.

Seeing Qi Han stare at her in a daze greatly satisfied her feminine vanity, so she eagerly awaited his compliment.

“Let’s go.”

Noticing how the young woman beamed with joy at his praise, Qi Han’s eyes filled with amusement.

It seemed this was a tactic he should employ more often in the future.

“Okay.”

With that, the two left the cave.

The medical kit had already been stowed away in Qin Tianru’s storage space, replaced by a canvas bag.

They couldn’t very well travel empty-handed without even a simple bag. If they needed to take something out, they’d have no way to conceal it.
