This canvas bag was handmade by Qin Tianru during her spare time at home. The design was quite simple, though the painted decorations on the surface took some effort. It was large in capacity and could easily serve as a small travel bag.
It didn’t look right for the two of them to be out traveling with no luggage at all. But Qin Tianru didn’t have a suitcase in her storage space—because for her, the storage space itself was already the biggest mobile suitcase.
So the only thing that could count as luggage bag was this large canvas bag.
Qin Tianru packed a few bottles of mineral water into the bag. The outer labels had been removed, leaving only plain bottles, so it wouldn’t matter if people saw them.
She also packed a box of pastries, some snacks, basic medicines, and the remaining three coconut bread.
Now, it finally felt like they had some sort of travel bag.
At this moment, the sky was just starting to lighten—around six o’clock or so. Neither of them had a watch, so they could only estimate the time by the morning light.
It was early March, and the morning air still held a thin layer of mist. The wide road was especially quiet, with only the two of them walking slowly along it.
“Cold? Want to put on your coat?”
Seeing the fog along the road, Qi Han turned his head to ask the person beside him. Seeing how thin she looked, he couldn’t help but worry she might get cold.
Qin Tianru replied softly, “No need. Walking with a coat on feels a bit burdensome. I’m fine like this. As long as we keep walking, I won’t feel cold.”
The road was desolate, and without any conversation, the silence felt too empty.
So Qin Tianru brought up something that had been on her mind for a while.
“You know about my situation already. Now how about you? Besides your name, I basically don’t know anything else about you.”
Just as she finished speaking, something important suddenly occurred to her and she blurted out:
“Oh no—don’t tell me you’re already married or engaged or something?”
People in this era usually married young, and judging by his age, he seemed to be of marrying age. If his family had already arranged a marriage for him, or if he was already married, that would be incredibly awkward!
She couldn’t believe she’d overlooked such an important issue. She should have asked about his personal situation the night before.
Annoyed with herself, Qin Tianru gave her own forehead a light smack. She felt foolish—putting too much trust in fate’s arrangements.
Even if this man was her fated one, she couldn’t just go interfering in someone else’s relationship.
Though in most time-travel stories that wouldn’t be an issue, her situation was different from her mother’s and the others’.
Who knew if the time system would play a trick on her?
“What are you doing? Why are you hitting yourself?”
Seeing Qin Tianru’s self-punishing gesture, Qi Han immediately reached out to stop her and gently rubbed the spot she had smacked. His touch was very gentle.
“You silly girl.”
Qi Han sighed lightly and continued, “You trusted me last night, didn’t you? So why doubt me now? Do you think I’m the kind of man who’s fickle in love? I was already planning to tell you about my family while we traveled.”
Last night had been tense and emotionally overwhelming. Seeing the tired look on her face, he hadn’t wanted to bring it up right away.
After all, they had plenty of time to talk along the journey. Who knew that in just a short while, this silly girl would start overthinking everything on her own?
