Chapter 9: Poisoning
The Princess Consort is truly excellent.
Jiang Li: I didn’t want to send it, but then I thought, after all, we’re under the same roof, let’s live in peace.
Mainly, she weighed it and realized that if she really fought Jian Lai, she wouldn’t be able to win without using tricks.
People, you have to be realistic.
If you can win, then fight, if you can’t win, you have to get along well.
As for the prince she hadn’t met, she didn’t have any intention of meeting him, only seeking peace under the same roof and not affecting her escape.
So far, she believed that Prince Ping already knew of her existence.
But Prince Ping didn’t react at all, which made Jiang Li very satisfied.
The best virtue of a man is not to think of himself as a dish.
Prince Ping did know.
Even in extreme pain, he knew earlier than Mosheng.
Long-term bed rest had made his hearing more acute than before.
He heard the noise outside, heard the voices of several young women talking and coming in and out.
But this didn’t cause any emotional fluctuations in Prince Ping.
The emperor bestowing a marriage on him surprised Prince Ping, but it was only a momentary surprise.
There was a pitiful woman who was forced to come in and accompany him, a dying man, and she was also unfortunate.
But he couldn’t save himself, let alone save her.
Now listening to Jiang Li speak, she seemed to be a lively woman, and he wondered if she was too naive and hadn’t recognized her situation.
But Prince Ping was too tired from the poisoning today and didn’t think too much about it.
“Your Highness, you’re awake.” Mosheng paid attention to Prince Ping’s movements at all times, so as soon as Prince Ping opened his eyes, he came over, “The princess consort entered the door today and cooked chicken noodle soup for you. Would you like to eat some while it’s hot?”
Mosheng was a little disappointed that there were no lamb ribs.
But the unexpected surprise of the noodles made him take the initiative to explain for Jiang Li—it must be that the princess consort was considerate, knowing that the prince’s body was weak and needed to eat something soft and easy to digest, so she didn’t send the lamb ribs.
“Mm.” Prince Ping didn’t refuse.
He didn’t expend much energy lying in bed, and he wasn’t attached to eating.
Everything was difficult to swallow, just for sustenance.
But the taste of the chicken noodle soup was better than expected, and the body was more honest than the spirit.
After Prince Ping finished a bowl of noodles, he even felt a little unsatisfied.
But he couldn’t take care of himself, and he controlled his eating and drinking, trying to cause as little trouble as possible for Mosheng and Jian Lai.
So after he finished this bowl of noodles, he didn’t eat anything else, lying in bed, looking at the small patch of blue sky outside through the open window.
The weather was clear and windless today, which was excellent.
“Is today the tenth of June?” Prince Ping asked.
He basically had a poisoning every month, around the tenth.
Mosheng, who was eating pickles, was a little choked. Today was actually the sixth of June.
—The frequency of the prince’s poisoning was more frequent than before.
Jian Lai said, “It’s the sixth.”
Prince Ping hummed and asked, “What’s left that we can give her?”
Mosheng didn’t understand and stared at him blankly.
Jian Lai understood.
Prince Ping wanted to give the princess consort a meeting gift.
Prince Ping felt that the bestowed marriage was like a farce, but he felt somewhat guilty towards the princess consort, who was innocently involved and forced to be imprisoned with him.
The princess consort sent food, and he wanted to return the favor.
“Nothing left.” Jian Lai said bluntly.
That battle had lost 30,000 soldiers, left 20,000 wounded, grieving families, and many families in distress.
“””So Jiang Li thought that the bare walls of the royal mansion were due to things being robbed, which was not right.
If they still had money now, their lives wouldn’t be so difficult.
Jian Lai had also tried to find money.
But as soon as Prince Ping had silver, he would find ways to help his old subordinates, and he wouldn’t spend a penny on himself.
“Then forget it.” Prince Ping looked at the top of the bed and said, “You take care of her, don’t let her be bullied.”
That was all he could do for the princess consort.
“She doesn’t look like someone who can be bullied.”
When Jian Lai went to the kitchen to get food just now, the cooks were discussing the matter of the two roosters dying in a row.
They also attributed this matter to ghosts and gods, thinking that it might be a sign that Prince Ping was about to die…
Jian Lai remembered Jiang Li’s neatness in killing chickens and strongly suspected that Jiang Li was playing tricks.
This princess consort was not a soft persimmon.
Prince Ping didn’t say anything more.
Jiang Li had a full meal, stretched, and said, “Shall we go out for a walk to digest? I’ll take you to the back door to see if there’s anyone selling things.”
There were heavily armed guards outside the royal mansion, but they turned a blind eye to them buying things.
“Sister, hide your money.” Douchou said, “If those cheap men know you have money, they will try their best to plot against you.”
She hated men, all men.
“I know. It’s normal for us to have some spare money on hand when we first arrive.” Jiang Li had considered this issue long ago, “I’ll make money from these people in the future.”
People eat whole grains and will get sick.
She would create some illnesses for the likes of Wang Jingrong, even if they didn’t have any.
“No, wait, first write a letter to my mother to report that we’re safe, and find someone to send it to her.” Jiang Li said again.
But there were no writing tools, so she couldn’t write…
How could she forget this?
“Miss, this servant will go ask the people who serve the prince to see if we can borrow them.”
Zhi Zi was an honest child, thinking that since the miss had married into the royal mansion, they should live in peace with the people who served the prince.
Peace, they needed peace.
“Okay, you go try, don’t force it, it’s not necessary to write it today.”
Zhi Zi went to borrow from Mosheng.
Mosheng was very enthusiastic when he saw her and immediately found the pen, ink, paper, and inkstone that hadn’t been touched in Prince Ping’s study for a long time and stuffed them all to her.
“By the way, the princess consort wants to take you to dig shepherd’s purse, I’m free and can lead the way and help.”
If he helped, he could at least get a bowl of wontons for the prince to eat at night.
From this point of view, it was really good to have a princess consort!
He had just eaten a meal, and he was already thinking about the next one.
Zhi Zi was embarrassed to trouble him and quickly waved her hand, “No need, no need, Sister Douchou and I can accompany the princess consort.”
“It’s okay, don’t be polite.”
Give him a chance to work, and he would be embarrassed to freeload!
Zhi Zi thought that Mosheng was a really nice person.
After returning, she told Jiang Li.
Douchou sneered, “Showing courtesy for no reason is either a traitor or a thief.”
Zhi Zi didn’t dare to speak.
Jiang Li said, “If he’s willing to show goodwill, we’ll accept it. After I finish writing the letter, I’ll call him to go together. Douchou, you come out too. I’m not too worried about leaving you alone with that Jian Lai.”
Douchou put on a veil when she went out.
Mosheng led the way diligently.
But when they came to the back door and stepped on the low wall that someone had built, Jiang Li was stunned by the scene in front of her.”
