Guan Yue unzipped his luggage: “There’s a similar one in the city; we can go next time.”
Pei Qi also leaned over: “Okay.”
“I put your things in another bag. Check if everything’s there.”
“Okay.” Pei Qi unzipped the other bag.
It wasn’t just complete; it was overwhelmingly complete. From changes of clothes to toothbrush and toothpaste, even underwear and swim trunks.
Um…
The appendicitis doctor had even thoughtfully put his underwear in separate, clean bags. It was one of his few pairs with letters on the waistband.
Um…
He’d only packed two pairs of underwear.
It’s fine…
The little capybara quickly reassured himself, though his ears still reddened slightly.
“Did I get anything wrong?” the man looked up.
“No… nothing.” Pei Qi lowered his head, pushing the two separate bags further inside.
Guan Yue: “I only saw one pair of swim trunks in your closet. Is this one okay?”
Pei Qi: “Yes.”
“You have very few things in your closet.” Because there were so few, he could find what he wanted at a glance.
“Um, yes, I didn’t bring some things.” As Pei Qi answered, he put out the toiletries.
The man’s tone was questioning: “Didn’t bring them?”
“Um, some are at my place.” Like some winter coats, he hadn’t brought them.
The young man didn’t look at Guan Yue the whole time, so he didn’t see the man’s sour expression.
“Oh.”
After packing, Pei Qi wanted to go into the hot spring. But he was a little embarrassed to go in with the appendicitis doctor. Besides, the hot spring pool wasn’t big; it would be strange for two people to stare at each other naked.
So the young man asked: “Doctor Guan, are you going to soak in the hot spring later?”
At that moment, Guan Yue received a message from the director, urging him to submit his ward rounds report. He was about to open his laptop. But the little capybara… seemed to be inviting him to the hot spring.
He pushed his laptop bag aside, about to answer.
“We can go at different times,” the little capybara stated bluntly.
Guan Yue: “…What?”
“The pool is relatively small; it might not be comfortable for two people.”
The man pulled his laptop bag back, taking out the laptop: “You go ahead; I’m not interested.”
“Um… okay.” Pei Qi had wanted Guan Yue to try it; it was very comfortable. But he heard the coldness in Doctor Guan’s tone. He thought it was best to say less, so he obediently shut up and went to the bathroom to change.
When changing his swim trunks, his hand touched the icy silk material. Thinking that Doctor Guan had also touched it… his ears heated up again.
He wrapped the hotel bathrobe around himself and walked out of the bathroom. The man was sitting at the table typing.
Pei Qi quietly slipped past him, so quickly that he didn’t notice the man’s gaze falling on the reflection of the screen, on the shadow of the young man in a bathrobe quickly passing by. His typing fingers paused, his throat suddenly dry. His mind was suddenly filled with certain details from that night.
Pei Qi had already slipped into the backyard and was now soaking in the hot spring. The water was warm, the night air in He City was cool, and there was a breeze tonight, adding a touch of coolness.
Pei Qi instinctively moved deeper into the water, leaning against the wall and looking up at the stars. He stayed in the water for quite a while, until his fingers were wrinkled, before reluctantly heading back to shore.
When he turned around, he saw that the bathrobe he’d left on the lounge chair was somehow on the grass. The grass was damp, and by the time Pei Qi picked up the bathrobe, it was covered in grass and mud. It was unwearable.
“…”
The little capybara lowered his head, calmly looking at the dirty robe in his hand. A cool breeze blew, evaporating the water droplets on his delicate skin. Cold. His hair stood on end.
Three seconds later, the young man, holding the dirty robe, opened the back door and went inside. He wanted to slip past the man silently, as before, but he froze before the partition.
He heard the man seemed to be in a meeting.
“This case is very typical; the patient has multiple clinical diagnoses…”
He didn’t know if the man had turned on the camera and microphone…
The young man hesitated, unable to advance or retreat. He instinctively pulled the bathrobe closer to his body. Perhaps because of the wind just now, his throat felt itchy. He couldn’t help but cough lightly, suppressing his cough, making it sound strained. He didn’t have his phone; otherwise, he could have texted Doctor Guan.
“What are you doing standing there?”
Just as he didn’t know what to do, the man suddenly appeared, standing in front of the young man.
“I…” The little capybara opened his round eyes, with a touch of fear in them. The young man was only wearing swim trunks and a bathrobe he was trying to use to cover himself.
Guan Yue thought Pei Qi wasn’t quite like a capybara. His skin was too white. Based on skin color alone, he was more like a white rabbit. The young man had no excess fat; his collarbones were delicate and beautiful, and the exposed part of the bone showed delicate, skin. There were still some water stains on his shoulders and neck. As for below the collarbone…
Guan Yue didn’t let his gaze linger there. It wasn’t that he was a virtuous man; it was because he was anything but virtuous. His throat felt even drier.
“The bathrobe is dirty,” Pei Qi whispered. “Are you in a meeting? Did you turn on the camera or anything?”
Pei Qi tried to use the bathrobe to cover himself as much as possible. But with so little fabric, it was a bit difficult.
The man didn’t answer, but silently walked away.
Pei Qi was bewildered, but soon, Guan Yue returned, holding a large bath towel. He spread it out and naturally wrapped it around the little capybara. The soft towel covered the young man’s skin, calming his hair.
“It’s ruined,” Guan Yue’s gaze fell on the dirty bathrobe in the young man’s hand.
Pei Qi did as he was told. The bathrobe fell on the wooden floor, making a soft sound. Guan Yue held the ends of the bath towel, gently pulling it inward. The little capybara was tightly wrapped in the towel.
The man’s gaze moved from the towel upwards, to the little capybara’s long, delicate neck, and then slowly higher.
The little capybara also raised his slightly watery round eyes. For a moment, their eyes met.
For some reason, Pei Qi suddenly felt his mouth was dry. He pursed his lips and then licked them. His pink lips became crystal clear and moist.
The man’s temples throbbed twice.
He lowered his head and kissed the little capybara. His hands loosened the towel, sliding down the young man’s waist, resting on his lower back.
Pei Qi was stunned by this sudden intimacy, not understanding why Doctor Guan suddenly kissed him.
Guan Yue narrowed his eyes, seeing that the young man was daydreaming. He could be so inattentive even now.
As punishment, or to force the little capybara to focus, the man extended his tongue.
The intrusion did make the little capybara react instantly, his round eyes slightly dazed. But he only found the feeling strange, didn’t reject it, and didn’t resist.
Seeing this, Guan Yue clasped the young man’s waist, wanting to carry the little capybara out. It was too dark here; he wanted to see the little capybara in a brighter place.
“Um…” But Pei Qi refused, reaching up to hook Guan Yue’s neck, pulling the man deeper into the corner, even leaning against the white wall. He didn’t know if the man had turned on the camera; how could he go out like this!
Thus, Pei Qi was trapped against the white wall, kissed until he was dizzy. Besides the voices from the computer, the only sound was the sound of kissing. It was quite loud, making the listener blush. He didn’t know Doctor Guan was such a good kisser.
Pei Qi’s ears were red, but he could barely stand it. Soon, Guan Yue wasn’t satisfied; he still wanted to carry him out, his grip on his waist particularly strong.
Pei Qi hummed, pushing the man away. Guan Yue finally released the young man’s lips.
Pei Qi blushed: “Did you turn it on?”
Guan Yue’s voice was hoarse: “What?”
Pei Qi: “The camera…”
The man’s lips curled up: “Yes, and the microphone.” This was the first time he’d seen the little capybara’s pupils shouting.
“Will they hear?” Pei Qi was almost whispering.
Guan Yue was no longer just smiling at the corners of his lips; the corners of his eyes were filled with undisguised amusement. Then, he slowly leaned close to the little capybara’s ear, also lowering his voice.
“Yes.”
The skin of his lower back was held tightly and warmly in the man’s palm. The small pendant light above was insufficient, filling the narrow space with a hint of ambiguous light.
Pei Qi was trapped in the corner, his cheeks flushed an unusual red. He stiffly held his neck, not daring to move.
