Lu Sichen was stunned by the dropped call and immediately called back, only to find that he had been blocked by Jin Zhao.
“Miss Jin must be angry at you because of me,” Su Yi cried, tears streaming down her face. “For your career and development, I should leave you. Don’t stop me.”
Su Yi stood up to leave, but found the man still sitting without moving. She felt awkward standing at the doorway.
Lu Sichen stared at his phone, thinking for a while before finally chuckling.
“Playing hard to get. Do you think I’ll fall for that trick?”
——
Jin Zhao, who had completely forgotten about this, was busy with school matters. Zhou Mo reminded her that there would be important guest lectures at Jingda University’s auditorium these days, urging her to attend.
When she arrived at the auditorium, she found it already packed.
Jin Zhao thought that if there were no seats, she might as well not listen and was about to leave when Zhou Mo waved to her.
“I came early to save a seat.”
Jin Zhao was surprised by the crowd; there were even people standing at the back.
“So many people? Do they give out money for signing in?”
“It’s more important than money,” Zhou Mo said mysteriously. “This company controls the economic lifeline of Jing City. Just by attending these lectures, you might find a direction for entrepreneurship. Some even have their pre-graduation projects selected and receive direct investment.”
Jin Zhao found it incredible and a bit strange. Besides Wei Corporation, who else in Jing City could be so arrogant?
She should write this down and tell Wei Ting to encourage him to work hard and defeat the competitors.
Just as she was feeling proud of her competitive spirit, she saw someone on stage adjusting the equipment.
A straight suit, a meticulous work attitude, and a very noticeable Wei Corporation employee badge.
Jin Zhao’s jaw almost dropped. “Assistant Qin?!”
“Huh, his last name is Qin? Zhao Zhao, how did you know?” Zhou Mo asked curiously, hearing her exclamation.
Jin Zhao was still immersed in the fact that Wei Corporation was the final presentation, quickly explaining,
“It’s written on his badge. I saw it and read it out.”
“Your eyesight is really good,” Zhou Mo sighed, only able to see his face. “It’s Wei Corporation today. Every year, during the last few days, someone from Wei Corporation comes to give guest lectures. I know you don’t want to go to Wei Corporation, but you can’t miss this opportunity, so I kept it a secret.”
“Heh…” Jin Zhao wasn’t addressing Zhou Mo but Assistant Qin on stage.
She remembered that Zhang Sao and Assistant Qin had been acting mysteriously at breakfast, especially Zhang Sao, who had specifically asked her to wear comfortable shoes today, apparently to make it easier to grab a seat.
And Assistant Qin had specifically told her, “Miss, see you later,” when leaving. She thought he meant “see you tonight.”
It turned out they were waiting for her, along with Wei Ting, that scheming man, who ate slowly without giving her any hints.
“Who’s coming from Wei Corporation? Could it be their rumored mysterious CEO?” Jin Zhao whispered to Zhou Mo.
Zhou Mo shook her head regretfully. “No way. Wei Corporation’s CEO has never appeared in public. The vice president has appeared a few times; he’s supposedly CEO Wei’s father, and he looks quite young and elegant.”
“Okay, no more talking.”
Jin Zhao wanted to slap Wei Sheng when she heard his name. That old geezer.
“As for CEO Wei… he’s never appeared in the media. I heard he’s decisive and aloof, so he doesn’t like to appear. We can only rely on imagination. Such a pity.”
Jin Zhao nodded; the evaluation was quite accurate. He was indeed decisive; otherwise, he wouldn’t have tried to kill her at their first meeting.
“It should still be Vice President Wei today. It’s the first time I’ve seen a father and son in a subordinate-superior relationship. It seems CEO Wei is truly powerful.”
Looking at Zhou Mo, who hadn’t even met him but had already become a little fan of Wei Ting, Jin Zhao gathered her things to leave.
“I think my aura clashes with Wei Corporation’s vice president. You listen; I’ll go first.”
Assistant Qin was really something; how could he help Wei Sheng? Even if Wei Sheng was the vice president, he shouldn’t be taking orders from him. She would tell Wei Ting and deduct his salary.
Zhou Mo didn’t expect Jin Zhao to have such strong objections to Wei Corporation. She quickly persuaded her, “Hey, it’s about to start. Don’t leave.”
Jin Zhao didn’t want to see Wei Sheng’s face and had already stood up with her bag.
Suddenly, the lights on stage brightened, and a man in a suit slowly walked to the center of the stage, instantly silencing the auditorium.
Jin Zhao’s position was in the front row, making her standing figure even more noticeable.
“This classmate, are you going to skip class?”
Jin Zhao was suddenly called out. She looked around and realized it was indeed her. She was a little stunned.
The man’s voice, amplified by the microphone, resonated throughout the auditorium.
His tone was low and cold.
“Huh?” Jin Zhao looked up and met the man’s gaze. Her eyes widened.
Did Wei Sheng get plastic surgery to look younger?
A teacher from the school excitedly introduced the man beside him. “This is Mr. Wei Ting, the CEO of Wei Corporation, and the special guest lecturer for Jingda University’s 150th anniversary. Welcome, Mr. Wei.”
The auditorium erupted in cheers.
“Jingda University is so impressive? CEO Wei’s first public appearance is given to Jingda?”
“There must be a school-enterprise collaboration…”
“If I knew CEO Wei was so handsome, I’d do anything to work for Wei Corporation!”
“Husband! This is my new husband.”
Jin Zhao didn’t hear anything else, but the word “husband” seemed to have legs and jumped into her ears. She wouldn’t allow anyone to take her husband—
’s money.
“Sit down,” Wei Ting said slowly. “Are you sure you want to skip class?”
His voice was very forceful, sounding a bit like a strict teacher.
Jin Zhao came to her senses and smiled, shaking her head. “No, no. I was just standing up to stretch.”
“Teacher Wei—”
Jin Zhao emphasized these three words. The whole family played a trick on her this morning, treating her like a Japanese person.
“Wow, what luck! To actually see CEO Wei at Jingda?” Zhou Mo was so excited she almost fainted, pulling Jin Zhao to talk.
“You’re the first student to talk to Mr. Wei. So lucky!”
The auditorium was filled with whispers, everyone saying how young and handsome Wei Ting was, along with the sound of cameras clicking.
Jin Zhao also took out her phone and angrily typed.
“What if my husband becomes my teacher?”
“Teacher-student relationships are not socially acceptable. We will be condemned.”
“Husband, why aren’t you talking? Are you busy teaching?”
On stage, Assistant Qin stood beside Wei Ting, carefully placing his phone in front of him and asking for permission.
Wei Ting glanced at the constantly popping-up chat boxes, picked up the microphone with his slender fingers, and said calmly.
“I heard that Jingda University has teachers who collect phones during class.”
“Then I will also follow Jingda’s tradition.”
