Chapter 19: I’ll Pay, You Choose The Place, How About That?

Su Wantang slowly sat up, glancing at Xia Qingtian with an amused smile.

This level of skill dares to go against her?

Truly, ignorance is bliss!

What courage!

With a playful smile, Su Wantang slowly said, “Why would I be angry? I know that once people get older, their eyesight starts to decline. I understand.”

Xia Qingtian’s eyes widened in disbelief, staring at Su Wantang.

Unexpectedly, Su Wantang so bluntly mentioned her age?

Seeing Xia Qingtian’s silence, Su Wantang blinked innocently.

Then she asked, “Doctor Xia, what’s wrong with you? I heard you keep calling Captain Fu ‘Little Fu,’ making me think you must be at least thirty? It’s okay, it’s normal for eyesight to be poor at this age. It can be corrected, or at the very least, you can get glasses…”

Xia Qingtian, ignoring her image, raised her voice, her eyes filled with anger.

Then she took the apple Fu Yanci had peeled for her and leisurely began to eat it.

Xia Qingtian, listening to the abruptly ended conversation and looking at the nonchalant Su Wantang,

felt a sense of hitting cotton with a fist. Powerless.

She bit her lip, her face turning slightly ugly, her hands unconsciously clenching into fists as she suppressed her anger.

Fu Yanci, seeing Xia Qingtian still standing there, slightly frowned and asked indifferently, “Doctor Xia, is there anything else?”

Xia Qingtian wasn’t Su Wantang’s attending physician; she had just happened to encounter Fu Yanci while checking on another patient.

Now that she had been implicitly dismissed, she felt embarrassed to stay, so she left the ward with a belly full of anger.

Before leaving, she glared fiercely at Su Wantang.

Fu Yanci, looking at the battle-ready Su Wantang, suddenly laughed.

Hearing the laughter, Su Wantang looked up and met Fu Yanci’s gaze.

She frowned slightly, her mouth stuffed with apple, asking indistinctly, “What are you laughing at?”

Fu Yanci suppressed his smile and reminded her, “Eat slower, no one’s going to take it from you.”

“When you fainted just now, I thought even if you woke up, you’d be weak and listless. I didn’t expect you to be able to retort so soon after waking up.”

Su Wantang swallowed the apple, glancing at Fu Yanci.

“I didn’t expect Captain Fu to be so unchivalrous, saying things like someone’s eye wrinkles could kill a mosquito to a beautiful woman. We’re even!”

Fu Yanci wasn’t annoyed by this; he seemed in a good mood.

Leaning back in his chair, he looked at Su Wantang, his eyebrows curved, his eyes filled with a deep smile.

“Your personality is good too; at least you can protect yourself and won’t be easily bullied.”

Su Wantang finished her apple and remembered something important.

She grabbed Fu Yanci’s wrist, looked at his watch, and exclaimed, “It’s already one o’clock? If my dad gets home and can’t find me, he’ll be frantic!”

The sudden softness and warmth in his hand made Fu Yanci unconsciously sit up straight, his ears turning red.

He withdrew his hand, clearing his throat lightly, “I’ve already had someone tell your father you’re getting an injection in town. Don’t worry.”

Su Wantang breathed a sigh of relief, “Being a soldier really is different. You’re so thoughtful and thorough. Thank you.”

Fu Yanci was pleased by the compliment and raised his chin slightly with pride, “It’s nothing.”

He stood up and asked, “How are you feeling now? Can you get out of bed? I’ll take you to eat.”

Hearing about food, Su Wantang immediately got out of bed, “Yes, but I don’t want hospital food. I want to eat something good outside! I’ll pay, you choose the place, how about that?”
