Chapter 5 : Revealing Shu Ruxue’s True Face
Shu Zhisheng and Shu Guofeng, who had already entered the ward, also heard Yun Siying’s words. Yun Siying noticed their arrival and immediately used her psychic powers to mentally suggest to Shu Ruxue that even if she planned to leave, she had to first clear her name of all the slander.
“Shu Ruxue, you don’t like me and often slander and frame me, but I’m innocent! When I was mistakenly identified, I was just a baby who knew nothing. I also missed out on the love and company of my real family for 18 years. If my presence is such an eyesore to you, I’ll leave the Shu family once I’ve recovered.”
“So what if I slandered you? You were lucky enough to live in a wealthy family, loved by Grandpa, Dad, Mom, and Brother. Now that I’m back in the Shu family, you should go back to the countryside. You staying here just makes things difficult for me. Why can’t I enjoy all of this alone? As long as you leave, everything will be mine.” Shu Ruxue said angrily. Her eyes looked a bit vacant, but no one noticed the oddity.
“Then you admit that everything that happened before was orchestrated by you to frame me, so that my family would hate and reject me?” Yun Siying pressed further.
“Yes! I threw myself down, hit myself, cut my own clothes, threw the pastries on the floor, rolled down the stairs, and blamed it all on you and they believed it. You were scolded, criticized, and even beaten. You brought it on yourself.” Shu Ruxue replied, a proud smile spreading across her face.
“Mom, did you hear that? This is the truth.” Yun Siying turned her gaze to the Shu family members and saw the shock and disbelief in their eyes, along with a trace of guilt. She laughed to herself and spoke calmly.
“Don’t worry, I’ll leave the Shu family after my injuries have healed.” Yun Siying looked at the Shu family, her expression serene.
Shu Ruxue was overjoyed and said, “You said it yourself.”
“Ruxue, how could you treat Siying like this? I don’t think I’ve treated you badly since bringing you home. What are you dissatisfied with? Why don’t you apologize to Siying?” Shu Guofeng scolded Shu Ruxue angrily, his tone stern. He truly hadn’t expected his granddaughter to be this kind of person.
“I didn’t do anything wrong. She’s the one who doesn’t know her place and insists on staying in our Shu family,” Shu Ruxue said resentfully, then turned and ran out of the health center.
“Ruxue, wait for Mommy!” Tang Lingxue shot a glare at Yun Siying and ran after Shu Ruxue.
“There’s no need for an apology,” Yun Siying said indifferently. She was thinking of the original owner’s helplessness and despair before death, the Shu family did not deserve forgiveness.
Shu Zhisheng turned to Qiao Minghong and Jiang Xianmin, speaking with embarrassment. “Minghong, Xianmin, Yue’e, thank you all for helping Siying today. If it weren’t for you, this child would have suffered even more.”
“Uncle Shu, we’re neighbors it’s only right to help each other. Siying has always been obedient and sensible. If something’s wrong, just talk to her nicely. There’s no need to be so harsh. Since she’s now in your care, the three of us will take our leave.” Seeing that it was already dark outside, the three of them gave Yun Siying a sympathetic look and left the health center.
“It’s been so long since we last saw each other, and you don’t even call me Grandpa anymore?” Shu Zhisheng asked coldly, a trace of regret flickering in his eyes.
“Grandpa.” Yun Siying looked at Shu Zhisheng with a calm and distant expression. She hadn’t forgotten that when Tang Lingxue whipped her, this old man hadn’t stepped in to stop it, nor had he arranged for her injuries to be treated.
“Good child, we wronged you. We misunderstood you. When we get home, we’ll have Ruxue apologize to you.” Shu Zhisheng stepped forward, his eyes filled with gloom. There had been many onlookers at the door just now, it seemed the Shu family was about to become a laughingstock.
Even if Siying wasn’t his biological granddaughter, he had raised her for eighteen years. He had personally taught her everything she knew. The years they had spent together had forged a deep bond. He had wanted to keep her by his side. The Shu family wasn’t lacking in resources.
But because this child kept “bullying” Ruxue, they had gradually grown colder toward her. They never expected it was all a setup by Ruxue. As the dignified head of the family, he had been fooled by a mere girl.
Perhaps it was the blood connection, he felt that they had treated Siying unfairly for eighteen years, and now he wanted to give her all the best things to make up for it. Thinking she was just a simple child raised in the countryside, he had believed everything she said. He didn’t want Siying to grow cold toward them.
“Wang Chao, bring in the food quickly my granddaughter is hungry,” Shu Zhisheng called out to the guard outside, filled with guilt.
Yun Siying saw the bowl of rice porridge and two big meat buns handed to her, and her stomach immediately growled even louder. She took the food and said to the guard, “Thank you!”
Then she began eating in large bites. She wasn’t going to mistreat her own body. As for the beating, well, that was still Ruxue’s fault.
“Slow down, don’t choke,” Shu Zhisheng said, watching Yun Siying devour the food. He suddenly remembered she hadn’t eaten since last night and felt even more remorseful.
Hearing his words, Yun Siying enjoyed her meal even more. Honestly, the crops of this era were all natural and free from pollution even with simple preparation, the food tasted great. As for the people around her? Sorry, nothing was more important than food.
After she finished eating, her IV drip also completed, and the nurse came in to remove the needle. Shu Zhisheng then gave another order. “Wang Chao, go ask the doctor if Siying still needs to be hospitalized.”
Wang Chao quickly returned and reported, “Commander, although Comrade Shu is seriously injured, fortunately, it’s only flesh wounds no damage to bones or muscles. She can be discharged with some ointments and oral medicine to recover at home.”
Shu Zhisheng gave a cold look at his unmoved son and said grimly, “Shu Guofeng, go get Siying’s medicine.”
Then turning to Yun Siying, he said with a gentler expression and tone, “Siying, let’s go home.”
In the car, Li Yue’e sighed as she recalled everything they’d just witnessed at the clinic. “Xianmin, this Shu family is really too biased. Siying has suffered so much injustice. Now Tang Lingxue has beaten her like that, I think her heart has completely turned cold toward the Shu family.”
“She’s not their biological child after all,” Jiang Xianmin said, eyes reddening as she thought of the whip marks covering Siying’s body. “They didn’t even investigate the truth. For six whole months, they believed she was the one at fault. And last night after beating her so badly not only did they not treat her injuries, they didn’t even take her to the hospital. She nearly died. That child needs to think about her own future.”
What they didn’t know was that the real Yun Siying had already died at the hands of Tang Lingxue, killed by the indifference of the very family she had once loved.
