Chapter 25: Sister Smells So Good

Jiang Huaiyue returned to the courtyard holding the cat. Qiuchan had been waiting anxiously, and when she saw Jiang Huaiyue’s disheveled clothes and pale face, she hurried forward to support her.

“Miss, what happened to you? How did you get hurt like this?”

Qiuchan’s eyes immediately reddened as she looked at the marks on Jiang Huaiyue’s neck, filled with heartache.

Jiang Huaiyue smiled faintly, “I’m fine, don’t worry.”

Though her injuries looked shocking, she wasn’t at the point of dying.

But today, she had truly witnessed how terrifying Pei Ji was, and she would have to be even more careful in the future.

Qiuchan helped her into the room to sit down and hurriedly took out some ointment. “Miss, let me apply this for you.”

Jiang Huaiyue lifted her head gently, and Qiuchan dabbed ointment on the marks on her neck.

“Miss, I will definitely watch over Riceball from now on and never let it run off again.”

Qiuchan thought that Miss got hurt because of the cat, and she felt that Miss shouldn’t have saved the cat in the first place; otherwise, she wouldn’t be hurt now.

Jiang Huaiyue understood her concern and softly reassured her: “It’s okay. I really am fine. Cheer up a bit.”

“Miss, you’re hurt like this, how can I be happy?” Qiuchan’s round face scrunched up as she looked at Jiang Huaiyue, then couldn’t help but pinch her.

“Surviving a great disaster will bring future blessings. Stop worrying so much,” Jiang Huaiyue said warmly, feeling touched by Qiuchan’s care.

Meanwhile, Pei Ji had just returned to A Yuan’s courtyard. From a distance, he saw her happily eating the cake Moying had given her.

He walked slowly closer, and A Yuan stood up happily. “Brother, where is sister?”

As she spoke, she glanced behind Pei Ji but saw nothing.

Pei Ji understood she was asking about Jiang Huaiyue: “Sister went back to take her medicine.”

Hearing this, A Yuan’s expression instantly fell. She still wanted to play with her sister.

“Does A Yuan like sister that much?” Maybe it was because A Yuan had been lonely all these years, so whenever she saw Jiang Huaiyue, she thought about her.

“I like her. Sister is pretty and smells so nice,” A Yuan said with a smile, her eyes squinting as she shared her feelings.

Pei Ji’s eyes darkened deeply. Pretty? Smells nice?

He thought carefully about Jiang Huaiyue’s looks—it wasn’t ugly. As for the smell, just now when he was grabbing her, he did indeed smell something.

For some reason, he suddenly recalled the tear that fell onto the back of his hand when he was holding Jiang Huaiyue. A strange feeling flashed through his heart briefly.

Snapping back to reality, he looked at his sister: “A Yuan must want playmates. Brother will find some for you another day.”

A Yuan bit a piece of cake and looked at him puzzled: “Brother, what is a playmate?”

What’s a playmate? Can you eat it?

Pei Ji saw the childish look in her eyes and felt a flash of pain. He explained, “A playmate is a friend. You feel lonely, right? Brother will find some people to play with you.”

“Can playmates swing with A Yuan and play games?” A Yuan tugged at Pei Ji’s sleeve with the hand she was eating with, and crumbs stuck to it instantly.

Pei Ji lowered his eyes, took out a handkerchief, and wiped her hand clean. “Yes, they can. A Yuan can have them do whatever she wants.”

“That’s great! Then A Yuan wants playmates. Thank you, brother,” A Yuan smiled brightly at Pei Ji.

After a while, Pei Ji left A Yuan’s courtyard and ordered in a deep voice, “Find some girls of A Yuan’s age. They must be trustworthy and not talk nonsense outside. Take care of A Yuan.”

“Yes, Master, rest assured,” Mo Ying replied seriously.

“Have the people sent to find Divine Doctor Sun found her yet?” Pei Ji’s dark eyes gazed endlessly into the distance.

Mo Ying: “No news for now. But I heard Divine Doctor Sun took on an apprentice, and Mo Zhu is still searching.”

Divine Doctor Sun, whose real name is Sun Baicao, is renowned for his superb medical skills, widely known in the martial world. However, in recent years he has been low-profile, and no one knows exactly where he is.

Pei Ji had sent people to look for a long time, but every time they fell just short.

“Give them another half month. If they still can’t find her, return to the secret guard camp and stay there for half a year,” Pei Ji said coldly.

Mo Ying couldn’t help but sweat for Mo Zhu: “Understood.”

“Also, from today on, have Fu Yao follow Jiang Huaiyue step by step. If she shows any unusual behavior, kill her on the spot.”

Empty promises like these, Pei Ji never believed them. Moreover, since it concerns A Yuan, caution was necessary.

“Master means to have Fu Yao appear openly on the surface?” Mo Ying asked.

Pei Ji: “Yes.”

“Understood, I’ll inform Fu Yao immediately.” Mo Ying nodded and left after receiving the order.

A while later, Mo Ying was followed by Fu Yao, dressed in black battle gear. As they walked, Mo Ying said, “Master said you will follow the princess from now on. If she tries to reveal the young lady’s identity, kill her immediately on the spot.”

Mo Ying was a bit puzzled. At first, the master wanted to kill the princess immediately, but for some reason, in the end, he let her go. Strange indeed.

But the master probably had his own plan.

“Got it,” Fu Yao replied coldly, expressionless.

When they reached Jiang Huaiyue’s courtyard, Qiuchan was carrying a basin of water. Seeing Mo Ying, she wanted to splash the water out but didn’t dare, fearing trouble for the princess.

“Is something wrong?” Qiuchan asked, her face not very good.

“The princess unwell? Master sent someone to escort a person here for you,” Mo Ying said, sensing Qiuchan’s dissatisfaction but not caring at all.

Qiuchan glanced past Mo Ying at Fu Yao behind her. Fu Yao stared coldly with no emotion, which was chilling.

“I’m enough to serve the princess. No one else is needed,” Qiuchan said nervously, gripping the basin tighter.

That person just looked terrifying, as if she could kill someone at any moment. Having such a dangerous person near the princess would be nerve-wracking every day.

Mo Ying ignored her and walked past to the door: “Princess, master has orders.”

Jiang Huaiyue, inside the room, had already heard the voices outside. She understood this was Pei Ji sending someone to watch her, but she still had to smile and accept it.

“Come in!” she called out.

With her permission, Mo Ying and Fu Yao entered.

Inside the room, Jiang Huaiyue weakly leaned against the bedside. Mo Ying kept her eyes lowered, not daring to look around. After all, Jiang Huaiyue was the master’s woman, and proper respect was necessary.

“Princess, this is Fu Yao. Master ordered her to serve you closely from now on,” Mo Ying said.

Fu Yao cupped her fists in greeting: “Fu Yao greets the princess.”

Jiang Huaiyue looked at the woman. She wore black, her hair tied in a neat ponytail. Her aura was fierce and intimidating — clearly someone Pei Ji had secretly trained.

“Get up. Since it’s the lord’s order, stay,” she said softly.
