An Yi arrived at the hospital and immediately found Lin Yuming.
Lin Yuming excitedly told him that the volunteers had already entered the ward and were making final preparations before the transplant was returned.
An Yi’s hanging heart finally fell, and he was so happy that he didn’t know what to do. He turned around and gave Yan Chen a hug with all his might.
“Thank you, really thank you.”
Yan Chen was very pleased and even gave Lin Yuming a meaningful glance.
Lin Yuming ignored his provocation, directly calling An Yi into the office, he detailed tomorrow’s return transplant process and the various problems An Ya might face in the future.
The heavy barriers in front of them were like difficult peaks that were perilous and could not be underestimated.
The smile on An Yi’s face quickly disappeared.
Yan Chen stood with his arms crossed beside him, looking quite displeased. “Can’t you say something nice?”
Lin Yuming coughed. “Can saying nice things heal An Ya? Her subtype results were not ideal to begin with, and it’s the doctor’s responsibility to inform the family of the risks in advance.”
Yan Chen clicked his tongue and was about to retort when An Yi stood up and thanked Lin Yuming before leaving the office.
Yan Chen followed.
An Yi walked a few steps ahead with his head down, then suddenly asked, “Um… how did you find the person? You really helped a lot with this.”
“It doesn’t matter,” Yan Chen brushed aside his messy bangs, pinched his thin and pale face, and frowned. “How long has it been since you slept?”
“…Not long.”
The fact was, since he stopped taking the medication, An Yi hadn’t had any real sleep. Even if he was exhausted, he couldn’t fall asleep, and his consciousness floated between wakefulness and dreams. The sound of melting snow outside could easily startle him.
Yan Chen looked displeased, hugged his shoulder, and led him to the car.
“Where are we going?” An Yi actually wanted to stay at the hospital.
Yan Chen glanced at him and replied, “Sleep.”
An Yi tightened his seatbelt, his face pale, and said nothing more.
The two of them went to Yan Chen’s Villa.
The villa was warm like spring. As soon as they entered, Yan Chen held An Yi’s face and kissed him.
An Yi obediently responded, took off his coat, and was about to go further when he gently pushed Yan Chen away. “I’ll take a shower first.”
Yan Chen had originally just wanted to cuddle and take a nap with him purely. He had been a bit tired from traveling between two places these days. But since An Yi was so docile and proactive, he felt in a great mood, so he hugged An Yi and kissed him for a long time before letting go.
An Yi went into the bathroom and gently locked the door.
He took off his sweater, unwrapped the bandage on his wrist, the inner layers were already soaked with blood, and the skin near the wound was slightly adhered, so there was a slight tearing when he removed the scab.
He wrapped the bandage back up, wrapped it in tissue paper, and threw it in the trash can.
Then he walked to the shower, awkwardly propped his body open with one hand, and made preparations.
This was his greatest sincerity to repay Yan Chen and the professional quality that a plaything should possess.
Afraid that the wrist injury would dampen Yan Chen’s interest, An Yi wore one of Yan Chen’s black shirts when he went out.
The sleeves were just long enough to cover his wrists, and the black color made his skin look even paler. With only one button fastened in the middle, the loose hem revealed a tantalizing glimpse, leaving room for imagination.
Especially since the red marks from a few days ago were still faintly visible, Yan Chen only took one look and immediately had a reaction.
An Yi climbed onto the bed, bent down, and lay beside Yan Chen’s feet in a submissive posture.
Finally seizing the opportunity, Yan Chen vented all the anger, resentment, and dissatisfaction that had been accumulating in his heart for days, releasing it all at once.
After it was over, he felt completely relieved and fell asleep contentedly, holding An Yi in his arms.
An Yi stared at the ceiling, letting his mind wander, feeling the warmth pressing against his back, and surprisingly, he also felt sleepy.
The two of them didn’t eat lunch and slept until dusk.
Yan Chen woke up first, and An Yi woke up as soon as he moved slightly, but he didn’t open his eyes.
He heard Yan Chen get out of bed, and the bedroom door opened and closed. An Yi turned over and crawled into the half of the bed where Yan Chen had slept, continuing to rest with his eyes closed.
Yan Chen’s phone was left on the sofa downstairs, and many unread messages had accumulated in the afternoon. Before he could finish reading them, he heard the sound of the door unlocking.
A tall man in a coat walked in, with features resembling his, but more mature and sharp.
“Ge?” Yan Chen frowned. “What are you doing here?”
“You know best why I’m here.” Yan Heng walked over to the sofa and sat down, exuding a chilling aura.
Yan Chen’s heart skipped a beat. He glanced at the message from Qi Wenxing and understood everything from the vague message “take care, ge.”
He cursed under his breath, threw his phone, and sat opposite his elder brother, asking, “What did Qi Wenxing say to you?”
“He didn’t say anything, but you know what you did,” Yan Heng crossed his legs. His imposing presence as an established figure made him intimidating. “You sent people to smash the door, coerce and threaten, forcing others to donate bone marrow, and someone secretly filmed it and handed it over to the Ethics Association. You’ve really outdone yourself.”
“…Damn, that Qi Wenxing!” Yan Chen’s face darkened. “I told him to inspect each one carefully and not let anyone film it.”
“Is that the point?” Yan Heng’s stern voice interrupted him. “Who do you think you are? Do you love scandals so much?!”
“It was just a scare, I didn’t actually do anything!” Yan Chen justified himself. “Besides, that person regretted donating first. The little girl is waiting desperately for help after clearing her marrow. Should he just back out after promising to donate?”
“You can criticize him, but you can’t go threatening people at their doors. That’s the bottom line!” Yan Heng said solemnly. “Qi Yue is the honorary vice-chair of the Ethics Association. If this matter escalates, what will happen to her? Did you ever think before acting?”
“The situation was urgent, and a life was at stake. Even if we scared them a little, it wouldn’t escalate to something so serious,” Yan Chen tried to argue. “Besides, hiring bodyguards and bringing two bags of cash to someone’s door, how is that a threat? Clearly, it’s an act of kindness.”
Yan Heng retorted coldly, “Do you think you’re funny?”
“…Anyway, if Yue jie knows about this, she definitely won’t scold Qi Wenxing like you do.”
The two brothers locked eyes, and the atmosphere in the hall became tense and nervous.
After a moment, Yan Heng suddenly spoke, “When did you become so compassionate? Or is it for that man, doing such impulsive and brainless things?”
Yan Chen frowned tightly. “Did you investigate me?”
Yan Heng countered with a question instead of answering, “You answer my question first.”
Yan Chen said with disgust, “This is my own business, stay out of it.”
“If he affects your decision-making rationality, I will definitely intervene,” Yan Heng asserted dominantly. “Unless you give me a reasonable explanation.”
Yan Chen scratched his hair impatiently, remained silent for a moment, then said, “If you investigated me, you should know what kind of life his family has been living since the incident. That guy surnamed Xu, has been harassing a high school student who only cared about studying for money every day, pushing him to the brink. I helped him out. This is accumulating good karma for our Yan family.”
Yan Heng didn’t agree. “Paying off debts is only right and proper. Moreover, by that time, Xu Jin was no longer under the Yan family’s control. The debt relationship between them had nothing to do with the Yan family.”
Yan Chen didn’t want to dwell on these trivial matters.
It had been very distressing recently, and he had finally smoothed things out with An Yi to some extent. He didn’t want to create unnecessary complications.
“Ge, let’s be clear. Don’t interfere in the matters between him and me,” Yan Chen threatened. “Otherwise, don’t blame me for flipping the table with you.”
Yan Heng looked at him calmly and said, “I can refrain, but while you play around, you need to be clear about your relationship with Miss Zhou.”
“I know, I know,” Yan Chen said, running out of patience, wanting his brother to leave quickly. But Yan Heng’s visit this time was to take him back forcibly.
“Why should I go back? Going back will only cause trouble for both of us.”
Yan Chen strongly refused, but Yan Heng refused to budge.
“Next month is Dad’s birthday, and the whole family must be present.”
“Then I’ll come back next month!”
“Do you think you can easily get away with the stupid things you and Wenxing did by distracting me?” Yan Heng didn’t allow him to negotiate. “Hurry up and come back with me. Don’t make me have someone tie you up. By then, you will be embarrassed.”
“Ge! I’m not a child anymore! I’m living well outside, freely…”
“You’re too free, lacking discipline,” Yan Heng suddenly stopped, raised his eyes, and met the gaze of An Yi standing at the staircase.
An Yi tightened his clothes, feeling torn.
Yan Chen turned to look at him, his expression slightly clearing. “Go back to the bedroom first, I have something to attend to.”
“No need, just bid farewell and come back home with me,” Yan Heng asserted dominantly, his scrutinizing gaze fixed on An Yi.
Yan Chen gritted his teeth, reluctantly complying with his brother’s demand. Afraid that his brother might suddenly say something inappropriate to An Yi, he grabbed his coat and gestured in concession, “Let’s go, let’s go, I’ll go back with you.”
After saying that, he glanced at An Yi again and said, “I’m going back to our old house with my brother. You stay here for these days, wait for me to come back.”
An Yi hesitated for a moment before nodding silently, not uttering a word.
The unfamiliar gaze downstairs made his spine tingle.
It wasn’t until the two of them left one after the other that An Yi’s tense nerves finally relaxed.
The spacious villa felt desolate, and none of the items or potted plants belonged to him. He didn’t want to touch them or even look at them.
Although Yan Chen suggested that he stay here, An Yi still put on his clothes and returned to his old apartment.
The next day, An Ya would undergo bone marrow transplantation, and An Yi felt nervous and excited. He managed to eat something, but he still couldn’t fall asleep at midnight.
He thought it might be because he had slept with Yan Chen for too long during the day. He rummaged through the drawer for his discontinued oxazepam and poured half a glass of warm water.
Since he didn’t need to be a donor anymore, he thought it might be time to resume his medication to control his anxiety.
But when he saw the dwindling pills, he hesitated again.
Depression was too costly for him. After hesitating for a moment, he ultimately returned the pills to the drawer.
