Chapter 18 : The big man was thrown off the train
“How would I know that? I’ve been away from your house for days, I can’t even touch your household registration book. Yet somehow, I managed to register her? Wow, I must be really powerful,” Yun Siying sneered, the mockery in her eyes evident.
“Siying, was it really not you?” Shu Chengzhi looked at Yun Siying closely, trying not to miss a single expression on her face.
” Tsk! Would you even believe me if I said it wasn’t?” Yun Siying replied with a smile, her eyes full of sarcasm.
“If you say so, I’ll believe you,” Shu Chengzhi answered after a moment of silence. Thinking about how he had doubted her over the past six months, he felt a little uneasy but still replied with firm conviction.
“It wasn’t me,” Yun Siying thought silently, mentally adding, “No way.”
“Siying, once you’re in the countryside, please help look after Ruxue,” Shu Chengzhi added, having just noticed that Yun Siying had been assigned the same rural address as Shu Ruxue. Knowing Yun Siying’s capabilities, he felt a bit relieved and made the request.
“Are you joking? She’s your sister, not mine. Why should I take care of her? If you’re that worried, you can volunteer to go to the countryside too, then you can take care of her 24/7,” Yun Siying said with a smile, then turned and walked away with her suitcase. Among all the educated youth present, she had the least luggage.
“Guofeng, look at that ungrateful brat what is she even saying? She owes Ruxue! Isn’t it her duty to take care of Ruxue?” Tang Lingxue said, increasingly dissatisfied as she glared at Yun Siying. She then turned to Shu Ruxue with a face full of heartache and reluctance.
“That’s enough. Don’t talk about this anymore,” Shu Guofeng said. He could tell that the girl just wanted to stay far away from their family now. She had even voluntarily chosen to go to the countryside to repay the kindness of being raised, and had publicly announced in the newspaper that she was severing ties.
The sound of “Woo… click, click” came from far away, growing louder. The passengers waiting at the station and the family members seeing them off all looked toward the noise, picked up their luggage, and began preparing to board the train.
“The train is here, Ruxue. Get ready to board,” said Shu Guofeng and Shu Chengzhi as they picked up her luggage and slowly moved toward the train.
When the train stopped, a crowd surged forward to board. Yun Siying stood quietly in a corner, looking at the old green train, her heart tightening a little. Seeing the dense crowd pressing forward, it was like watching a wave of zombies who had caught the scent of meat. Some people even climbed in through the windows in desperation.
With her family’s support, Shu Ruxue managed to squeeze to the front of the carriage. Shu Guofeng and Shu Chengzhi forced their way ahead with her luggage, Tang Lingxue followed from behind, and Ruxue was protected in the middle. After finally squeezing onto the train and finding her seat, her father and brother helped store her luggage before disembarking.
Tang Lingxue leaned in at the window and said with great concern, “Ruxue, don’t talk to strangers on the train. Keep your money and important documents safe. These days there are a lot of thieves and human traffickers, make sure to protect yourself.”
“Remember to call me when you arrive safely. And if you encounter any trouble, call home…” Shu Ruxue, hearing Tang Lingxue’s words of concern, couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy. ‘How wonderful it would be if Mom cared about me like that,’ she thought, her heart softening a little.
“Mom, Dad, Brother don’t worry. I’ll take good care of myself. I’ll call once I get there to let you know I’m safe,” Shu Ruxue said tearfully. ‘If only they were really my family,’ she thought wistfully.
Yun Siying, in contrast to the tearful Shu family send-off, watched their emotional goodbye from afar. Her heart was calm. She thought, ‘If the original owner saw this scene, how sad she would be.’
Yun Siying waited until the crowd had thinned out before walking toward her carriage. She had the least luggage, looking more like a staff member on a business trip than someone relocating to the countryside. But her youthful face and lack of the large red flower on her chest marked her clearly as one of the educated youth, and she boarded the carriage reserved for them.
As soon as she got on, the train began to move. Seeing the packed aisle, she immediately regretted not squeezing aboard earlier. She finally made it to her seat, panting, and was satisfied to find it was by the window.
But what she didn’t expect was that a large, burly man was sitting in her seat. Thinking she must have been mistaken, she looked at her ticket and checked the seat number again…no, she was right. That was her seat.
Scanning the entire carriage, she saw that all the seats were taken. Many passengers had noticed her boarding, and their eyes followed her as she moved through the car. When they saw her stop in front of the big man, they exchanged nervous glances and began to sweat for her.
What surprised her even more was that across from her sat two familiar faces Shu Ruxue and Shen Subai both looking at her with schadenfreude, as if waiting to see her embarrassed. Yun Siying felt disgusted. What rotten luck to be seated near those two.
“Comrade, this is my seat. Please move,” Yun Siying said. She was petite, fair, and beautiful, with large, clear, expressive eyes. Her voice was soft and gentle, not the least bit threatening.
The big man glanced at her with annoyance, momentarily stunned by her appearance, but then closed his eyes and pretended to sleep, assuming she wouldn’t dare make a fuss.
“Hey, comrade, this seat is mine. Please get up and move,” Yun Siying repeated, raising her tone slightly and arching an eyebrow.
Some of the male passengers, unable to stand the sight of the pretty girl being bullied, stepped in righteously to speak up.
“I say, you’re a grown man how can you take a woman’s seat? Don’t you have any shame? Get up and move!”
“Exactly! Comrade, you’re making us men look bad. This behavior is disgraceful, where’s your dignity?”
The man, however, continued pretending to sleep, sitting there comfortably and ignoring them.
Yun Siying warned him again “Comrade, I suggest you get up now, or be ready to face the consequences.”
The big man finally opened his eyes, glaring at Yun Siying with impatience, as if she were disturbing his rest. He sneered and said, “Tsk. Little girl, try whatever tricks you want I’ll take the consequences.”
Yun Siying calmly put down her suitcase, stepped forward, and opened the train window. Then she turned back to face him with a radiant smile that momentarily dazzled him. While he was stunned by her beauty and caught off guard, her hand struck a few precise points on his body. In one swift motion, she lifted the big man with one hand.
“Hey, you crazy woman, what did you do to me? Let me go!” The big man’s smug expression vanished, replaced by fear as he shouted in panic.
Yun Siying just grinned, ignored his pleas, and without hesitation, tossed him out the window then promptly shut the window again.
