Chapter 20: Do You Know You’re Over a Month Pregnant?
Perhaps due to extreme tension and embarrassment, that sensation of something nudging inside his stomach returned.
Chi Liu’s face paled, and he smiled faintly: “I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
With that said, he brushed past the man and strode across the room toward the restroom.
The guests’ eyes were practically popping out of their sockets. As expected, working the night shift for too long causes you to miss out on explosive gossip!
What is the relationship between Boss and Little Chi?
Chu Qi’s gaze lingered reluctantly on the young man’s retreating figure. Then, he smiled and swept his eyes across the room and the surrounding guests.
The guests shuddered in unison. Those seated near Chu Qi quickly moved to other tables, while the remaining guests turned their heads away as one, then lowered their gazes and gulped down their wine: Ahhh, as expected, the boss is super scary!
In the vacuum that had formed, Secretary Wen felt a bit dizzy from the relationship between Chi Liu and the boss. He finished his Metropolitan cocktail and said somewhat helplessly, “After you approved my leave just now, you took the initiative to say you wouldn’t come to Little Chi’s soft opening.”
Although he hadn’t intended to invite the boss anyway—after all, what employee invites their boss when they’re trying to relax?
Chu Qi: “I’m going on a business trip, and you’re coming with me this time.”
Secretary Wen was taken aback: “You came here specifically to inform me—”
Chi Liu’s figure had completely vanished from the space. Chu Qi’s face returned to its usual arrogance and self-importance, and he smiled: “Don’t flatter yourself.”
Secretary Wen: “…” Okay!
Chu Qi’s gaze once again fixed on the direction where Chi Liu had disappeared. He said, “We’re leaving in fifteen minutes. This business trip will be long, and we won’t be able to return midway. Be prepared.”
Secretary Wen’s pupils shrank, and his expression slowly became serious: “Boss, what exactly happened?”
This level of urgency was beyond a normal emergency business trip…
Chu Qi turned and walked in the direction where Chi Liu had disappeared, saying, “That rat who obtained the dissolving space ability through cheating has been resurrected.” His voice was filled with a coldness tinged with disgust.
The terrace and the room were still filled with the carefree whispers of guests gossiping in hushed tones. Secretary Wen’s eyes widened suddenly.
As Chu Qi passed Wen Xi, he paused.
The people around him quickly retreated, giving the boss space to talk!
Wen Xi finally stopped playing her bass and asked directly, “What’s your relationship with Brother Chi?”
Chu Qi smiled: “That’s none of your business.”
Wen Xi was silent for a moment, then shrugged: “Okay.” Then she said, “Are there any changes to the mission?”
Otherwise, she couldn’t think of any reason why this arrogant, evil god, who couldn’t even remember her name, would be standing in front of her now!
However, since the temporary leader was still in charge, she would do her best to adjust if there were any changes to the mission.
Chu Qi: “You still need to design a dungeon to catch all the rats in one fell swoop. You can choose any partner, except for me and my secretary.”
Humans without power naturally had to cooperate with them to design and construct dungeons.
Wen Xi immediately locked onto a candidate and nodded decisively: “OK.”
Qi Teng, who had been secretly glancing at Wen Xi from afar, suddenly sneezed for some reason.
Chu Qi didn’t bother with any of this. He continued to walk elegantly, soon disappearing in the direction of the door.
…
In the restroom, there was a rustling sound from the ceiling, as if workers were repairing something in the ventilation ducts.
The sound of water flowed as Chi Liu washed his face at the sink.
The cold water finally made him feel more comfortable and calm.
Just as he was about to take out his handkerchief to dry his face, a pale, slender hand reached out in front of him, holding a clean handkerchief with a faint, cool fragrance.
Chi Liu was stunned. He looked up and saw the face reflected in the mirror.
Chi Liu: “!!!”
His one-night stand had followed him to the restroom!
Well, it was still a little better than being watched in public.
Chi Liu frowned slightly, staring at the exceptionally handsome man in the mirror, and thought with some distress: How did he reject that pile of suitors in the original world?
For those who were too persistent, did he give them a shoulder throw?
It wasn’t impossible!
Chi Liu smiled and moved his wrist bones, making a slight cracking sound.
Just as he was about to do something uncivilized, Chu Qi spoke: “I’m going on a business trip for a while. I can’t come back during that time.”
He looked tenderly at the young man in the mirror, who had now become lively and cunning, and said, “Before I leave, I want to see you.”
He knew that the young man didn’t want to see “Chu Qi,” so he hadn’t planned to appear at today’s event.
But he was leaving soon. He wanted to see him and wanted him to see him—in his true form.
Chi Liu was rarely stunned—he finally remembered who Ah Yuan’s voice sounded like…
Perhaps it was because he had been deliberately ignoring and avoiding Ah Yuan this morning that he felt a little guilty, or perhaps it was because the man’s voice was too… gentle. Chi Liu didn’t know what to say for a moment…
The ceiling was still making strange noises. Chu Qi never cared about irrelevant people and things. He looked at his watch: “I only need ten minutes of your time.” There were ten minutes left.
Chi Liu blinked. Just as he was about to say something, the man lowered his eyes to Chi Liu’s abdomen and said, “Protect yourself, and protect him.”
Protect yourself. Protect Mom. Dad will be back soon.
The embryo seemed to be growing faster than before recently, and he was sleeping longer each day. He didn’t respond.
Heh, the little guy was still too weak after all, Chu Qi thought.
Chi Liu followed the man’s gaze to his abdomen. An indescribable, strange emotion spread through his heart. He frowned in confusion: What was Chu Qi looking at? Who was he talking to…?
Suddenly, the ceiling made a faint sound that was easily overlooked. A gap opened in the ceiling directly above Chi Liu, revealing a dark, numb eye!
Then, an empty black muzzle quietly aimed at Chi Liu…
Chi Liu’s pupils shrank as he was susceptible to gazes. He suddenly looked up and met the muzzle of the gun in the gap. The muzzle was aimed precisely at the center of his head!
Someone wanted to kill him!
With a “bang,” a gunshot rang out.
Chi Liu subconsciously wanted to take a few steps back to avoid implicating Chu Qi, but the man blocked Chi Liu in front of him at an incomprehensible angle and speed.
He reached out his hand and caught the cold bullet.
With his back to Chi Liu, Chu Qi’s hand was still outstretched in mid-air. Sparks crackled in his palm, and the bullet quickly turned into cold dust—but Chu Qi still held it tightly, until he turned the dust into nothingness.
His eyes flashed with an icy edge, his pupils narrowed like a beast’s, and the edges were tinged with a blurred, cold red light: That wasn’t an ordinary bullet…
That was a weapon developed by those rats specifically for them… something that could harm them… if it hit a human, the human body would instantly explode into a pool of blood…
His Little Chi wouldn’t even have a complete piece of flesh left…
The one who did it wasn’t a player he could immediately detect; it was an NPC…
Something was surging wildly in Chu Qi’s sleeves, but the alien monster was suppressed by its master to prevent it from scaring the young man…
“Ugh! Ah!!!!”
A bloodcurdling scream suddenly came from the ceiling. A thin, black-clothed man fell beside the sniper rifle, blood flowing from all seven orifices, his limbs completely crushed by the dark force that was surging wildly in the confined space…
Chi Liu only looked in disbelief at the man’s tall back, and… the man’s hand that had caught the bullet.
“Drip”
Fresh red blood dripped continuously onto the ground from that hand. On the pale, broad back of his hand were three pink flower-shaped bandages…
Those were the ones he had personally put on Ah Yuan…
Chi Liu reached out towards that straight shoulder, his voice and his hand trembling at the same time: “Press the wound, stop the bleeding, and then, go to the hospital… that way, you can save your hand…”
The hand that was likely to be pierced by the bullet…
His mind was calmly and accurately going through the most precise steps, but he felt that his self-proclaimed strong heart was also trembling…
The little one, awakened by the mother’s intense emotions, experienced panic for the first time since he had consciousness: “Mommy… Wuwu, Daddy…”
Chi Liu gently pressed his lower abdomen, subconsciously comforting someone. Just as his fingertips were about to touch Chu Qi’s shoulder, Chu Qi, with his back to him, spoke in a distorted voice, unbelievably gentle: “Darling, now, go to your bar and rest.”
“Trust me, I’ll take care of it.”
He would handle it perfectly according to the rules of the NPC world. He would not scare his Little Chi.
Having said that, he walked firmly out of the restroom, closing the door with a soft “bang.”
Chi Liu’s pupils shrank. When he reacted, he immediately rushed over and slammed the door open—he had to go to the hospital!
At the open doorway, his steps suddenly stopped: Chu Qi’s figure had disappeared entirely…
A strong sense of worry mixed with a heart-palpitating tremor suddenly surged into his heart. Chi Liu’s face was pale. He gently stroked his abdomen, his hands resting on his knees, his body slightly hunched, breathing softly with his eyes closed…
He clenched his fist tightly, his fingertips piercing his palm—that bastard…
…
In the narrow, hollow ceiling, a deep blue tentacle mercilessly rolled up the incomplete NPC and disappeared in an instant.
At the same time, Secretary Wen on the terrace suddenly widened his eyes, and the Mojito in his hand fell to the ground with a “smack.”
A deep blue tentacle appeared around his waist like a phantom. The next second, Secretary Wen disappeared, leaving only an empty glass on the terrace.
The soft opening of the bar was still lively.
…
Chi Liu sent a message to the most reliable Wen Xi, asking her to look after the store.
Despite the short distance, he still took a taxi back home.
In the empty living room, Chi Liu sat on the sofa, knitting a sweater. The coffee table was filled with baked cookies—he enjoyed knitting sweaters and baking cookies when he was happy, and he also liked doing it when he was in a bad mood.
He sat there until the sun set.
The sunset descended upon the world, casting a warm, fuzzy edge around Chi Liu’s body.
After arriving in this world, he felt for the first time that this cozy house was incredibly quiet.
Suddenly, there was a “ding-dong,” and the doorbell rang.
Chi Liu’s pupils shrank. He stood up and strode over, opening the door without even looking through the peephole.
Secretary Wen and Xiang Xiang appeared in his sight with two suitcases.
Chi Liu was stunned.
Secretary Wen pushed up his glasses and said, “Ah, our house is being renovated. Can we stay at your place for a while?”
In fact, he was supposed to be on a business trip.
As a result, his boss had taken him to the president’s office in the Inforay Building before the business trip, thrown him an NPC with blood flowing from all seven orifices, told him to hand it over to the police, and told him not to go on the business trip.
But he had to protect Little Chi.
The NPC wanted to kill his friend Little Chi.
Secretary Wen smiled and said, “I’m begging you, please take us in. We’ll go to the doctor with you tomorrow.”
Chi Liu pursed his lips: “How is he? Where is he?”
Secretary Wen was stunned and asked a little uncertainly, “You’re asking about the boss?”
Chi Liu looked away and nodded.
Secretary Wen thought to himself: “!!!”
But he still replied, “The boss has gone on a business trip and won’t be back for a while.” After explaining the length of the business trip, the boss left without any complaints.
Chi Liu lowered his eyes: “I see.”
After a long while, he raised his head again, stepped aside, and smiled: “Come in. Since strange people have already stayed at my house, I bought a lot of daily necessities. It’s good that you’re here to help me use them up. It would be best if you used them all.”
Xiang Xiang hugged his sleeping doll and looked at Chi Liu worriedly, hesitant to speak.
Secretary Wen also sensitively noticed that the young man’s mood was a little off, but he didn’t say much. He just smiled and said, “Then we’ll be intruding.” He stepped into the house.
…
The next day, Chi Liu still went to see the doctor he had scheduled, accompanied by Xiang Xiang and Secretary Wen.
It was a luxurious private hospital, and its main business seemed to be providing medical services to Inforay employees.
The young female doctor walked into the consulting room with the blood test report. She sat down and looked at Chi Liu calmly, as if she were looking at an ordinary patient.
Chi Liu smiled gently: “It’s okay, you can just tell me directly.”
…
In the seats outside the consulting room, Xiang Xiang tugged at Secretary Wen’s sleeve and said worriedly, “Will Little Chi be okay?”
He went to the highest-level consulting room in this hospital. This consulting room didn’t have separate departments, but instead provided doctors corresponding to the patient’s needs. Only guests with high status who required confidentiality were allowed to come here.
Secretary Wen sighed softly: “I don’t know either.” Was it possible for such a fantastic thing as a male NPC getting pregnant to happen?
He touched Xiang Xiang’s little head: “It’s okay, we’ll wait for him together, and we’ll be with him no matter what the result is.”
Xiang Xiang nodded firmly.
…
In the consulting room.
The female doctor handed over the form and looked at him. “The blood test was for human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG – a hormone produced primarily by the placenta during pregnancy).”
Chi Liu frowned slightly and looked at the form in his hand, his pupils shrinking.
The female doctor said with concern and composure, “Do you know you’re over a month pregnant?”
Chi Liu’s eyes widened suddenly.
