Chapter 29: Mo Haoyue’s Injury
He returned this time because he was injured. He spent a month recovering in the army and as soon as he could walk, he rushed back. No one could dissuade him; he reasoned that since he couldn’t perform missions, he absolutely had to return to his wife.
Being held tightly by Mi Xia, despite the pain, his heart felt sweet. After so many days and nights, he could finally hold his wife.
Mi Xia released him, embarrassed and touching her nose. It was so humiliating; tears and snot streamed down her face, staining his clothes.
Looking down, she saw his clothes soaked with blood. Mi Xia was extremely anxious.
“What happened to you? Why so much blood?”
“It’s nothing, wife, just a small wound,” Mo Haoyue softly comforted her.
Xia Xia and Mi Xiaohuan were gone, having disappeared sometime earlier. Mi Xia didn’t worry about them.
She immediately took Mo Haoyue back to her room, locked the door, and then took him into the space.
“Go take a quick bath in the spirit spring; it will help,” Mi Xia urged Mo Haoyue anxiously.
He didn’t refuse; he knew the spirit spring’s special properties, and besides, his wife was so worried that he couldn’t let her remain anxious.
Mi Xia brought out many foods that aided wound healing. When Mo Haoyue came out, he saw a table full of food.
“Come here and let me see,” Mi Xia said, staring intently at Mo Haoyue’s chest.
Although they were husband and wife, being looked at like this by his little wife made even Mo Haoyue blush.
Mi Xia didn’t notice; she was completely focused on Mo Haoyue’s injury.
Mo Haoyue slowly took off his coat. Mi Xia impatiently said, “Why are you taking it off so slowly?”
Then she reached out to help Mo Haoyue undress.
Did his little wife even know what she was doing? Although he was injured, it didn’t affect his… capabilities.
After Mi Xia took off his clothes, she gasped. She saw the wound on his left chest and abdomen, and tears uncontrollably streamed down her face.
“Wife, I’m hungry,” Mo Haoyue said, wanting to distract her.
Mi Xia: “Then come and eat quickly. These will help your wound heal.”
Mo Haoyue strode over and sat down. “Wife, you should eat too.”
They ate quickly but surprisingly elegantly. Although they didn’t talk much, the atmosphere was warm.
“Let’s go out; it’s not good to stay in the room all the time,” Mi Xia said casually.
Seeing Mo Haoyue looking at her with a smile, she glared at him.
“Brother-in-law is back,” Zhang Hongxia said, looking meaningfully at Mo Haoyue and Mi Xia.
Mo Haoyue replied openly, “Sister-in-law, I’m back. I can stay for two months this time.”
Zhang Hongxia smiled and nodded. “Good, good, good. I’ll go prepare lunch. You should go see Xia Xia; she’s playing in the yard.”
“Sister-in-law, let’s have hot pot for lunch. I’ll go with you.”
Then, turning to Mo Haoyue, she said, “Go keep Xia Xia company; the little girl misses you. Be careful of your wound; don’t hug the little girl.”
Zhang Hongxia frowned. “Brother-in-law is injured? Is it serious?”
Mi Xia: “Sister-in-law, don’t worry; it’ll heal with time.”
Then the two went to the kitchen. Mi Xia took out the meat she had prepared earlier. There was a well in the house, and the meat was always hung in the well—a natural refrigerator.
Zhang Hongxia went to the backyard to pick several kinds of vegetables. Mi Xia took the opportunity to bring out hot pot base and some dishes from the space.
Mi Xia also made some sauces to dip in the clear broth hot pot.
The children came home from school. Mi Jianguo was especially happy to see Mo Haoyue. “Uncle, I study hard every day. When I grow up, you’ll take me to the army.”
Mo Haoyue smiled and nodded. Mi Jianguo was even happier, jumping high.
Mi Xia asked Mi Aiguo to call his father from the factory so the whole family could eat together. When they returned, everyone was already waiting.
“Brother-in-law is back,” Mi Qiu grinned, showing a row of white teeth.
“Yes, Big Brother, come and sit,” Mo Haoyue greeted him.
Mi Xia hadn’t expected Mo Haoyue to return injured. Her eldest brother’s family had already heard about the hot pot and were looking forward to it, so she couldn’t not make it.
Mi Xia made a split pot; she and Mo Haoyue ate the clear broth, but they had already eaten quite a bit in the space, so they weren’t very hungry and ate little.
Mi Xia let everyone put whatever they wanted into the pot. Everyone ate heartily, while she and Mo Haoyue kept serving Xia Xia.
“Mom, this is so delicious! I want to eat it again next time,” Mi Jianguo said, already thinking about the next meal before finishing this one.
After the meal, Zhang Hongxia and Mi Xia cleaned up the dishes. Mo Haoyue and Mi Qiu chatted in the living room, with several children sitting around Mo Haoyue.
Zhang Hongxia: “Little sister, will Xia Xia sleep in our room tonight?”
“No need, Sister-in-law. Xia Xia will sleep with us,” Mi Xia blushed.
Soon after dinner, the two little girls fell asleep; they always took a nap together in the afternoon.
Mo Haoyue had been on the train for a long time and was tired. Mi Xia asked him to take a bath in the space and rest; the spirit spring water was very helpful for wound recovery.
Taking several baths wouldn’t hurt. He slept in the space after washing. Mo Haoyue was truly tired; he fell asleep quickly, his injuries still not healed, and after several days on the train.
Mi Xia lay beside Mo Haoyue, quietly looking at him. This man was so handsome, exactly her type, and now he was her husband. Her heart swelled with happiness.
Mi Xia didn’t know when she fell asleep. When she woke up, it was three in the afternoon. Seeing Mo Haoyue still asleep, she carefully got out of bed.
She drank a glass of milk and left the space. Perhaps Zhang Hongxia had said something; no one came to disturb them. Mi Xia left the room and checked on her daughters.
Mi Xia gave Mi Xiaohuan some children’s drawing books and new toys. The little girl smiled sweetly. “Thank you, Aunt.”
“Mama, where did Papa go?” Mo Zhixia asked in a childish voice.
“Papa is sleeping in the room. We shouldn’t disturb him, okay? We’ll play with him when he wakes up,” Mi Xia patiently coaxed her daughter.
Mo Zhixia nodded obediently and said, “Then, Mama, will you play with us?”
Mi Xia: “Okay, Mama will tell you a story, okay?”
The two little girls sat obediently, their large, dark eyes fixed on Mi Xia.
“Once upon a time, there was a Little Red Riding Hood…”
The two little girls listened attentively. When they heard about the big bad wolf eating Grandma, tears welled up in their eyes.
When they heard that Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother were rescued, they laughed happily.
“Okay, you can play now.” She turned and left.
