Chapter 30: Going to the Movies

Mo Haoyue still hadn’t come out after dinner.

“Little sister, should we go check on your husband? Why is he sleeping so long? Why don’t you call him to get up and eat first, then he can sleep after,” Mi Qiu said worriedly, looking at Mi Xia.

“Big brother, it’s okay. He’s just tired from sitting on the train for several days. I’ll make him something to eat when he wakes up,” Mi Xia comforted him.

“Auntie, when can we eat that hot pot from lunch again?” Mi Jianguo asked expectantly.

Mi Xia smiled, “In a few days. Hot pot requires a lot of ingredients, we need to stock up slowly.”

“Yay, Auntie is the best!”

After dinner, while cleaning up the dishes, Mi Xia looked at Zhang Hongxia awkwardly.

“Sister-in-law, can Xia Xia sleep in your room tonight?”

Zhang Hongxia gave her a knowing look, making Mi Xia’s ears turn red.

After entering the room, Mi Xia went straight into the space. Seeing no one on the bed, she was startled. Where did he go?

Hearing sounds from the bathroom, she remembered that he couldn’t get out. She awkwardly scratched her head.

She prepared some light food and waited for him.

Mi Xia: “When did you wake up?”

Mo Haoyue: “Just now. I went to take a shower when I saw you weren’t here.”

Mi Xia: “Go get dressed. I’ve prepared a new set of clothes for you on the bed. Come eat after you’re dressed. I’ve prepared everything for you.”

Mo Haoyue softly responded and went into the room. Sure enough, a new set of clothes was on the bed.

A plain white t-shirt, a pair of sweatpants suitable for the era, and a pair of sneakers. It made Mo Haoyue look several years younger.

Mi Xia’s eyes widened as she looked at Mo Haoyue in the clothes she prepared. He was handsome, only slightly less so than in his military uniform. Seeing a handsome man really improved her mood.

Mi Xia: “Come eat.”

Mo Haoyue looked into Mi Xia’s eyes. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, and hers were pure and clean, making him feel comfortable.

Mo Haoyue sat down and started eating, not forgetting to tell Mi Xia, “It’s delicious.”

Mi Xia watched Mo Haoyue eat and smiled contentedly.

The two occasionally made eye contact, the atmosphere sweet and ambiguous.

“I’ll go take a shower first. Take your time eating. Xia Xia is sleeping in your sister-in-law’s room tonight.”

Oh, why did I say that? It’s like I’m seducing him! Mi Xia quickly rushed to the bathroom as if a dog was chasing her.

Mo Haoyue found it amusing.

After showering, Mi Xia wore her silk pajamas, which felt very comfortable. She washed some fruit and made a fruit salad, then lay on the sofa, reading a book, enjoying herself immensely.

Mo Haoyue walked over, and Mi Xia sat up and said, “Want some fruit? I left some in the kitchen for you.”

Mo Haoyue hugged Mi Xia, “I’ll eat you.”

Mi Xia’s cheeks instantly turned crimson, “Don’t be silly.”

Mo Haoyue: “I’m not kidding, my wife, I missed you. Did you miss me?”

“Yes!”

Hearing that Mi Xia missed him too, Mo Haoyue almost wanted to melt her into his body.

Mi Xia: “Mo Haoyue, I can’t breathe.”

Mo Haoyue quickly released Mi Xia, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, did I hurt you anywhere?”

Mi Xia felt like she had eaten honey, it was so sweet, “I’m fine.”

Mo Haoyue wanted to kiss Mi Xia’s lips, but it spiraled out of control, leading to one scorching kiss after another.

The room was filled with passion, and the two hearts grew closer.

The next morning, Mi Xia felt like she had been run over by a truck and couldn’t get up.

She brought Mo Haoyue out of the space and lay in bed, not wanting to move.

Mo Haoyue: “I’ll go get breakfast. I’ll bring you some later.”

Mi Xia glared at Mo Haoyue, “No need, I’ll just drink some milk later.”

Mo Haoyue looked at Mi Xia, his eyes full of unspoken affection.

After Mo Haoyue left, Mi Xia took out a glass of milk and a bowl of pumpkin porridge from the space and sat up with difficulty to eat.

After eating, she fell asleep again. Mo Haoyue came in to check on her, but she didn’t wake up.

Mo Haoyue looked at Mi Xia, wishing he could put her in his pocket so he could see her everywhere. But this little wife of his was so thoughtful, he couldn’t force her to do anything she didn’t like. He sighed helplessly and carefully opened the door and left.

Mi Xia slept until after 11 o’clock. Her body still felt a little uncomfortable, but much better than in the morning.

When Mi Xia went out, they were already having lunch.

Mo Haoyue: “Come eat.”

Mi Xia looked at Zhang Hongxia, her face blushing with embarrassment. So embarrassing, sleeping until noon.

Zhang Hongxia: “Little sister, come and sit. I’ll serve you some food.”

In the afternoon, after the two little girls woke up, Mi Xia called them over.

“Xia Xia, Xiaohuan, do you want to go see a movie?”

“Yes, Auntie, I want to go!” Mi Xiaohuan said happily.

Seeing Mi Xiaohuan smile, Mo Zhixia also smiled and said, “Mom, I want to go.”

Zhang Hongxia thought about their family of three going out to play, and wondered what to do with Xiaohuan, so she said, “You guys go as a family, Xiaohuan won’t go.”

Mi Xia: “Everyone goes, Sister-in-law, you too.”

“We mother and daughter won’t go,” Zhang Hongxia hadn’t finished speaking when she was interrupted by Mi Xiaohuan.

“Mom, I want to go.” Mi Xiaohuan looked at Zhang Hongxia expectantly.

Zhang Hongxia only has this one daughter, and she loves her very much. She couldn’t bear to disappoint her daughter, so she nodded in agreement.

Movie tickets cost 20 cents each, a total of one yuan. Zhang Hongxia felt it was too expensive; what else could she do with that money.

But she didn’t say anything. Everyone was happy, so she didn’t want to spoil the mood. Mi Xia bought soda at the entrance, one bottle, with a returnable deposit.

After drinking, they returned the bottle to get the deposit back and bought some melon seeds and peanuts.

Mi Xia thought it was cheap, but Zhang Hongxia thought it was expensive and felt heartbroken. It’s just a difference in times, thoughts, and experiences.

Mi Xia didn’t try to change Zhang Hongxia’s mind and pretended not to see her heartbroken expression.

Along the way, Mi Xiaohuan and Mo Zhixia were very excited. They had never seen a movie before. Not only the two little girls, but even Zhang Hongxia, at her age, hadn’t seen one before. She was very nervous along the way, closely following Mi Xia, afraid of getting lost.

After watching the movie, the two little girls were very happy, and even Zhang Hongxia didn’t feel bad about the money spent anymore.

On the way home, the family discussed the plot. The two little girls said they wanted to go again tomorrow, but Mi Xia refused. They would go again when her nephews were also on vacation.

Dinner was simple: rice porridge, white flour pancakes, and pickled vegetables.

Mi Xia also particularly liked the pickled vegetables made by Zhang Hongxia. They were very flavorful, and she could eat two bowls of porridge with them.

The little girls slept with Mi Xiaohuan again, and she was very happy. The two little girls were closer than biological sisters, and Mi Xia sometimes felt jealous.
