Chapter 60: Got You, Little Cutie

Tap tap tap….

Lan Yu sprinted along the cobblestone path that circled the academy lake, turning her head every so often to check the road behind her.

She had not seen that obnoxious fellow for a long time; with a tsundere huff she thought, That guy is still as dumb as ever.

There’s no way he can catch up to me by speed alone, so stay obedient and keep serving as my sparring partner!

With that thought her steps grew even lighter, and she could already make out the starting tree in the distance.

She glanced back again and saw only a few scattered students out for morning practice, yet a vague sense of unease rose in her heart.

Before she could face forward again, a figure burst out of the bushes ahead and charged straight toward her!

Lan Yu had been lost in thought, so the sudden appearance caught her off guard, and because she herself was running at full speed, the two closed in on each other in an instant.

Relying on superb body control and flexibility, she twisted to the side, trying to slip past the newcomer.

But the figure seemed to have predicted this, shifted half a step diagonally, and opened his arms.

He wrapped the colliding girl tightly in his embrace!

A teasing voice rang out: “Got you, little baby!”

Lan Yu shielded her chest with both hands and stared blankly at the boy holding her, watching his shameless grin as he uttered that flirtatious line.

After a few stunned breaths, crimson flooded her fair cheeks.

While shoving his chest away she simultaneously fired a vicious kick meant to end his bloodline.

Ashura’s face changed; he hurriedly pressed his hands downward to block the enraged strike, and the huge impact still hurled him into the air, letting him barely dodge the lethal blow.

Before Ashura could even cry foul, a blue silhouette flashed in front of him, followed by a torrent of smacks and kicks.

With only one seal lifted, Ashura struggled bitterly; every so often he ate another kick, and the furious Lan Yu’s speed was terrifying… he doubted he could outrun her even with every seal undone.

In less than the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea, Ashura found himself pinned against a roadside tree, Lan Yu’s hand clamped around his throat while he gripped her slender wrist.

Gasping, he protested, “What are you doing? Why hit me out of nowhere? Let go, let go!”

Lan Yu’s face was still rosy; whether from anger or the earlier hug she could not tell.

Spitting lightly, she said, “You… you pervert, we had a wager, and you cheated. You even… you even…”

Lan Yu trailed off; in all her life no boy had ever dared hug her.

Although she did not entirely reject the feeling, her pride kept her too angry to continue.

Ashura, unfazed, said, “How did I cheat? You said I’d win as long as I caught you during the lap, didn’t you?”

“Doesn’t matter how I caught you; as long as I did it before you finished the circuit, I win!”

Only then did Lan Yu calm down and figure it out: from the start this scoundrel never planned to run behind her but instead circled around and waited in the bushes near the finish.

She had known he wouldn’t accept the bet so easily, but she had not expected him to be this devious.

He exploited a loophole in the rules, beat her, and even took advantage of her!

The more she thought about it, the angrier she grew, and her hand tightened unconsciously.

Feeling her grip tightening, Ashura knew better than to provoke her further; he quickly raised his hands in surrender. “All right, all right, count it as my loss, I’ll be your sparring partner, okay?”

Hearing his plea snapped her back to herself, and she loosened her hand a little.

Ashura immediately broke free of the choke, rubbed his neck, and squatted down, gulping for air.

Of course he felt wronged, but he also knew arguing with a girl was pointless… something he had learned from his henpecked father.

As Ashura squatted there, rubbing his neck, he covertly ogled the pair of legs in front of him that were longer than his life.

That snow-white, slender jade hand grabbed his collar again and hauled him upright!

Ashura stared in alarm at the panting girl; her wide, shining eyes made his heart quiver.

He silently prepared to release the second seal and, if worst came to worst, flee back to Beast Forest.

The girl seemed to reach a decision; grasping his collar, she rose on tiptoe, shut her eyes, leaned forward, and trembled as her cherry lips brushed his.

The kiss was little more than a collision and broke off instantly, yet Ashura’s eyes widened as though his soul had left his body.

He had only wanted to tease her with words; he had never imagined the proud girl would honor the wager.

The brief kiss brought him no sweetness; instead his lips throbbed from the impact.

One thought echoed in his mind: “I was forcibly kissed; my purity is gone!”

Lan Yu, trembling, half opened her eyes; she had no idea where she found the courage, and her heart felt ready to burst from her chest.

But when she saw Ashura’s expression, as if he suffered a great injustice, anger flared again.

She was about to raise her hand to teach him another lesson when a soft “clack” behind them yanked both back to reality.

They whirled toward the sound and saw two freshman Warrior girls staring, mouths agape, at their compromising pose.

One girl had dropped her water bottle to the ground, and both still stood frozen.

What had they just witnessed? One of the academy’s top 10 freshman beauties, Lan Yu, had forcibly kissed a black-haired boy in the grove.

The boy even looked unwilling… heavens! Such explosive gossip had fallen right into their laps.

The two girls exchanged a glance, already picturing the uproar this news would cause on campus once they spread it.

Ashura and Lan Yu instantly felt like adulterers caught in the act; having no experience with situations like this, they were at a complete loss.

Their thoughts diverged: Ashura feared his sterling reputation would be ruined by being kissed by a girl, whereas Lan Yu wanted nothing more than to silence the witnesses… how humiliating if this got out!

Before she could act, the two freshmen spun around and ran off; Lan Yu bit her lip and could only tacitly accept the coming exposure.

She glared angrily at Ashura, who had no idea why she was staring.

He opened his mouth but did not dare say anything that might further unbalance her mood.

After glaring for a long time, Lan Yu suddenly snapped, “This is all your fault! Hmph!” She then stomped hard on his foot and ran off.

Ashura bared his teeth in pain, silently reciting praises for those long legs until he calmed down.

Humming a tune, he decided to grab breakfast at the academy cafeteria.

Though he kept grumbling about the injustice, the corners of his mouth stayed lifted; clearly the recent events had not truly upset him.

Only he knew how smug he felt inside….
