Chapter 66: “Fairy Sister”
The child, small and slight, stood protectively in front of his mother, his sharp gaze like that of a lone wolf. Even though he was just a wolf cub, he already inspired a certain fear.
“I am a doctor. I see your mother is coughing so badly, and I want to take a look at her,” Tang Mi stood straight and explained sincerely to the child.
She curved her eyebrows kindly, trying hard to look like she was not a bad person.
The child saw the warmth in Tang Mi’s eyes, and the vigilance in his body immediately eased. Looking at her with some sadness, he said, “My mother is seriously ill; she needs treatment. But I don’t have money to pay you.”
“I understand,” Tang Mi said gently.
“I don’t have anything else to give you either,” the child said sadly, with a trace of despair.
Tang Mi’s heart suddenly ached; she reached out and gently patted his head. “It’s okay. This time, I’m doing free medical service, no charge.”
Hearing this, the child finally became a little excited. “Then please, treat my mother quickly. She hasn’t opened her eyes for days.”
The child knelt beside his mother and handed Tang Mi her mother’s hand.
Tang Mi also knelt on one knee, placed the mother’s hand on her own knee, and began to take her pulse.
The child stared at Tang Mi without blinking, his eyes full of hope and nervousness.
After a while, Tang Mi let go of the hand and told the child seriously, “Your mother has lung disease, and the situation is already severe.”
Hearing this, the child’s eyes reddened. “Can my mother still be cured?”
The beggars nearby shook their heads regretfully.
Lung disease was known as an incurable illness, how could it be cured?
Tang Mi comforted the child by rubbing his head gently, “Your mother’s condition is serious, so I can’t guarantee she will be completely cured. But I will do my best to treat her until she recovers.”
“Thank you!” The child immediately kowtowed to Tang Mi.
Tang Mi helped him up right away. “I haven’t even started treatment yet, and you’re already kowtowing. What if I can’t cure your mother?”
“I believe you can,” the child said, looking into Tang Mi’s gentle eyes, feeling as if he had met a celestial being.
Tang Mi smiled and pinched his dirty little face. “Since you trust me so much, I will definitely do my best.”
She then turned to Guixi and looked at the cloth pouch at his waist. “Give me your silver needles.”
Guixi was watching with interest. Seeing that she wanted the silver needles, he didn’t hesitate to take them from the pouch.
Tang Mi took the silver needles and began to apply acupuncture to the mother.
Treating lung disease was very complicated. Ideally, she would first prepare a medicinal bath for the patient, then have her take several doses of medicine before applying acupuncture. That would improve the results. But given the current conditions, she couldn’t do all that.
Guixi stood behind Tang Mi, watching her smooth, flowing acupuncture technique. His eyes brightened, and his expression became increasingly excited.
This was his acupuncture method! Lung disease was considered incurable by others, but he had researched and developed a unique acupuncture technique to treat it. The method this girl was using was exactly the one he created. It was one of a kind; no one else knew it but him.
Guixi was more and more convinced that the “immortal” in the girl’s dream was indeed himself. It had to be! No doubt!
But how had he ended up in her dream teaching her medicine? That was too coincidental.
While Guixi was lost in these thoughts, Tang Mi finished the acupuncture.
After removing the last needle, the mother woke up.
Seeing Tang Mi, the mother was startled and shrank back, holding her child tightly. “Who are you?”
Her voice was hoarse and rough from constant coughing.
Tang Mi saw her fear and quickly soothed her in a gentle voice, “Don’t worry, I’m a doctor here to examine you.”
Just as Tang Mi finished speaking, the child explained to his mother, “This fairy sister is a divine healer. She is treating you without asking for any silver.”
“Benefactor, thank you, benefactor!” Upon hearing this, the mother was moved and kowtowed to Tang Mi.
Tang Mi immediately helped her up. “Your illness is complicated. To be cured, you must have continuous acupuncture treatment combined with medicine. I will come to give you acupuncture when I have time. As for the medicine, I will bring it to you daily.”
“Thank you, benefactor.” The mother seemed about to kneel again.
Before she could, Tang Mi pulled her up. “You should lie down and rest. The environment here is too poor. If possible, it would be better to move somewhere else to recuperate.”
The mother’s eyes reddened instantly, showing her difficult situation.
Tang Mi understood that to settle a family here must mean hardship. She only gave a reminder and didn’t want to touch on their painful reality.
Tang Mi stood up and looked at the other beggars who were watching her. “I don’t have much time. Is there anyone else who needs free treatment?”
Before, no one paid attention to Tang Mi, but after seeing her revive the mother, they finally believed she was a divine healer.
They knew that the mother had been unconscious for many days, breathing shallowly. They thought she was dying any day now, but this divine healer had saved her.
Moreover, if she could treat incurable lung disease, what else could she not heal? Surely, she was a divine healer.
“Divine healer, I am sick. Please help me.”
“Divine healer, please see if my leg can still be healed.”
“Divine healer, my chest hurts, I don’t want to die. Please help me.”
Suddenly, a crowd rushed toward Tang Mi, as if all those who had seemed healthy just moments ago had suddenly fallen ill.
Tang Mi glanced at them and started by treating the most seriously ill first.
The others didn’t dare interrupt and waited quietly to the side.
Tang Mi’s medical skills were excellent and fast. One patient after another accepted her treatment. Whether cured or requiring further treatment, they all respectfully kowtowed and thanked her.
They must have done good deeds in their past lives for heaven to send down such a fairy healer to save them this lifetime.
Guixi hadn’t stepped forward to help all this time, just watching nearby. Watching Tang Mi heal was like seeing himself healing patients.
Her acupuncture technique and medical methods were exactly like his, one hundred percent learned from him. Even without her memories, he was sure this girl was taught by him personally.
The “immortal” in her dream was definitely him, no doubt!
In the shadows, Ye Chenxuan also watched Tang Mi seriously treating the beggars.
She was so beautiful, shining as if light radiated from everywhere. She was so wonderful that he dared not approach her.
Someone so good like her, what kind of person would ever be worthy of her?
Thinking about her marrying and having children in the future, Ye Chenxuan’s heart felt like it was melting in molten lava, ready to explode, the pain so intense he could hardly breathe.
