The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s
The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s Chapter 41: Her Beloved

Qi Han thought for a moment and decided not to persuade her further. After all, the circumstances of their two worlds were different. Living in a world of abundance, food naturally didn’t hold the same level of importance.

Unlike people in this era, who feared going hungry and not having enough to eat, they would eat as much as possible whenever food was available.

“Then have some hot water. I just filled this at the water room.”

As he spoke, Qi Han pulled an aluminum water bottle from his cloth bag. He carefully unscrewed the cap and, worried the water might be too hot, blew on it gently while pouring the hot water into the cap, using it as a makeshift cup.

Watching Qi Han’s series of actions, Qin Tianru smiled brightly, her eyes sparkling with delight.

Her partner was truly wonderful!

In him, she couldn’t help but sense a familiar aura—one she had seen in her father and her eldest sister’s husband.

According to her mother and eldest sister, this was the hallmark of a good man.

If she could have a sincere and steadfast beloved, she would genuinely be willing to stay in this world.

“Drink it now.”

Qi Han didn’t realize there was anything special about his actions. He simply felt, almost instinctively, that his little wife was a delicate girl, so he naturally paid extra attention to her comfort in everything.

“Thank you~”

Qin Tianru held the water bottle cap and drank happily, her face glowing with sweetness as if she’d just downed a cup of syrup. The smile on her lips never faded.

Seeing her drink with such joy, Qi Han couldn’t help but curl his lips into a smile as well.

At 4 p.m., the two boarded a green-skinned train bound for the provincial capital.

“Rest for a while. I’ll wake you when it’s time to eat.”

To ensure his partner’s comfort during the train ride, Qi Han had specifically bought sleeper tickets. In these times, aside from the wealthy and cadres on official business, most ordinary people opted for hard seats.

As a result, even close to departure time, sleeper tickets were still readily available.

Their carriage had only four or five passengers, with more than half the berths empty. In their six-person compartment, only the two of them occupied the space, making it practically a private room.

“Okay.”

As soon as she touched the berth, Qin Tianru truly felt exhausted. She had walked for several hours on muddy roads today, and though they took breaks now and then, it was still draining. Her feet had even developed blisters.

But given the circumstances, she had no choice but to endure it for now.

At 7 p.m., the two ate some simple dry rations with hot water. Since the carriage lights would be turned off at a set time, leaving only the aisle dimly lit, there was nothing to do in the pitch-black compartment.

Thus, they went to bed early.

The next day, no new passengers boarded their carriage, much to their relief.

Qin Tianru found two books in her storage space: one was a collection of historical anecdotes, and the other was about the customs and cultures of Western countries. She wasn’t sure when these books had been tossed in, but they were perfect for passing the time on the train.

So, each of them held a book and read with great enjoyment.

At 10:30 p.m., the train clattered and clanked its way into the provincial capital of Shu: Jincheng.

“Are we here?”

Qin Tianru stretched lazily. If she didn’t get off and move around soon, her body would feel completely stiff.

“Yes, we’re here.”

Qi Han looked out the window at the bustling crowd disembarking, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

Jincheng, he had returned.

This time, he had come home a full ten days earlier than in his previous life.

He wondered how they planned to put on their act this time.

The corners of Qi Han’s lips curled into a cold smirk. He was almost looking forward to it.
