Chapter 30
The hastily arriving imperial physicians looked at the scene before them and felt their lives were hanging by a thread.
They actually saw the regent prince sitting on the dragon bed, holding the pale and unconscious young emperor whose clothes were disheveled! The red marks on his exposed neck and collarbone, which could not be concealed at all, indicated clearly what had happened.
Moreover, Xie Fuyi’s condition seemed too brutal. His body was covered in brutal marks, blood continuously oozing from his mouth, staining the front of his clothes crimson. His delicate features were tightly furrowed, and his pale face was devoid of any vitality.
“Your Highness, have mercy!” Several imperial physicians trembled as they knelt on the ground. They had learned such a terrifying secret and would surely be silenced, right?
“What are you all standing there for?” However, Ye Baixiao’s eyes turned red with urgency. The bone-chilling aura emanating from him was as terrifying as a demon. He didn’t spare a glance for the people on the ground, his gaze fixed firmly on Xie Fuyi, as if afraid he would disappear the next moment. He tightly held Xie Fuyi’s hand and said, “Treat him!”
In just three words, he sounded unusually determined. He didn’t say anything more, but his unquestionable command and cold tone already announced the consequences if they couldn’t heal him.
The imperial physicians dared not speak more, quickly agreeing and tremblingly beginning to treat the young emperor’s wounds under Ye Baixiao’s terrifying gaze.
After seeing that they had almost finished treating him, Ye Baixiao couldn’t help but speak in a low voice, “How is the emperor?”
One of the imperial physicians hurriedly replied, “Reporting to Your Highness, fortunately, you cleared the blood in time and used medication to stop the bleeding, so the emperor is temporarily out of danger. However, his tongue is injured, which will affect his ability to speak and eat for a short period of time.”
Temporarily out of danger, Ye Baixiao breathed a sigh of relief, but seeing that Xie Fuyi still had no response even after being treated, his black eyes became heavy, “When will the emperor wake up?”
The imperial physicians glanced at each other. The regent prince seemed to care deeply about the emperor? They carefully chose their words, “Your Highness, it’s hard to say. We found that the emperor’s mind is unsettled, as if in long-term fear and panic, under great mental strain, so he may fall into a deep sleep. As for when he will wake up, it depends on the emperor himself…”
Fear and panic, great mental strain?
All because of him…
Ye Baixiao’s face turned pale. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he looked at Xie Fuyi deeply buried in the covers, his face devoid of any vitality. After a long silence, his gaze swept over the imperial physicians on the ground, and he said coldly, “If anyone dares to spread even the slightest rumor, I will let them know what it means to beg for life but not get it, and to beg for death but not find it.” …He definitely didn’t want anyone to know about his current state.
“We guarantee not to leak any information!” The group of imperial physicians was stunned. Did they just save their lives? They were overjoyed and repeatedly kowtowed to assure him.
Ye Baixiao waved his hand, waiting for everyone to withdraw. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he looked at Xie Fuyi’s lifeless face buried deep in the covers, and a sense of remorse surged in his heart. If he had known Xie Fuyi was so stubborn, he wouldn’t have forced him.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye, and Ye Baixiao hadn’t slept for two days and nights, always staying by Xie Fuyi’s bedside.
During this time, changing clothes, feeding soup, and medicine, were all taken care of by him alone.
Xie Fuyi, lying in bed unconscious, looked pale and weak, but at least his life was saved.
Looking at the young emperor lying lifelessly on the bed, Ye Baixiao felt a dull ache in his heart. At this moment, he actually wished that the other person was still the tyrant who would rage and curse recklessly.
At least, that version of him was alive and vibrant.
“Your Highness! Something’s wrong!” Suddenly, a panicked voice came from outside. An attendant rushed in anxiously and reported, “General Zhao is in trouble, please come and take a look, Your Highness!”
Ye Baixiao furrowed his brows and said coldly, “What happened?”
“General Zhao was poisoned for some reason and is now on the brink of death. The imperial physicians have been summoned, but his life hangs by a thread!”
Ye Baixiao glanced deeply at Xie Fuyi, who was still lying unconscious on the bed, before finally stepping out with long strides. He instructed the guards on both sides, “Protect the emperor.”
Indoors, Xie Fuyi, who had just been unconscious, slowly opened his eyes.
As soon as he opened his eyes and saw the familiar palace, the first thing he looked at was his side quest: [Main character’s aggression heart value: 5/100].
It was just the beginning.
Xie Fuyi was confident that biting his tongue wouldn’t kill anyone; he had only meant to scare Ye Baixiao.
He breathed a sigh of relief and cautiously changed his position.
In fact, he had woken up long ago, but he couldn’t wake up in front of Ye Baixiao.
Because he was waiting for someone.
Sure enough, shortly after Ye Baixiao left, there were two muffled groans outside the door. Then, a very slight sound came from the window, and a figure silently appeared by the bedside.
Wearing a green robe embroidered with cranes, handsome features, and a pale complexion, it was Qinghe, who had hurried back from the northwest.
As soon as Qinghe arrived at the northwest camp, he sensed that something was wrong. He had fallen into an ambush; it seemed that Ye Baixiao had been prepared long ago. Your Majesty is in danger!
He was anxious and disregarded his injuries, fighting desperately to kill all the enemies. With the few remaining dead soldiers, he rushed back to the capital at full speed.
The twenty-day journey was shortened to half a month by him.
But it wasn’t enough, still not enough! If only he had been a little earlier…
Seeing Xie Fuyi on the bed, Qinghe’s eyes trembled, and anger burned in his eyes—a traitorous minister, audacious and brazen! How dare they bully Your Majesty!
He could hardly bear to think about the half month he had been away. How did his Majesty endure it? The thought filled him with fury.
