Chapter 24: Then Let Me Eat More for You
Downstairs, Li Lijun was a little at a loss, once again lamenting how difficult it was to be human.
Luckily, Li Fan came down, wearing a bright smile.
“Come on, come on, everyone, let’s continue soaking our feet.”
Bai Xiaoxian was busy getting someone to prepare a press release. The show only had a few days left, and if he wanted to hype up a CP pairing with Gulan Yi, he had to act quickly.
Just as he was about to sneak away, Li Lijun caught him.
There were only a few guests left. If he bailed too, could the show even go on?
“Master Li, I’m a bit tired. I won’t soak my feet today. I’ll join in next time.”
“Don’t be like that. Foot soaking is good for your health—you haven’t even heard me out yet.”
One wanted to leave, the other refused to let him go; the two tangled for quite a while.
In the end, Bai Xiaoxian managed to escape.
Li Lijun got flustered. Failing to grab his clothes, he ended up yanking his hair instead.
And with that pull, he accidentally tore off Bai Xiaoxian’s wig.
The air at that moment seemed to freeze.
Bai Xiaoxian looked like he’d been immobilized, too scared to even turn around.
Ruan Li, ever the expert at filling awkward silences, blurted, “Oh wow, Master Bai, do you never take a flashlight when you go out at night? Your head’s so shiny, it looks like a lightbulb!”
Bai Xiaoxian wished he could die on the spot. With a miserable wail, he clutched his gleaming bald head and bolted upstairs.
【Hahahahahahahaha I’m gonna die laughing! The most terrifying thing is when the air suddenly goes silent.】
【How old is Bai Xiaoxian? He’s already bald?】
【No way, I remember him saying on a variety show that he doesn’t lose hair and that it’s still very thick.】
【Maybe he doesn’t lose hair because there’s none left to lose?】
【Ruan Li is truly the queen of shade. Wherever someone hurts, that’s exactly where she stomps—and she makes sure they really feel it.】
Li Lijun stared at the wig in his hand, unable to find the words.
How did he end up pulling off someone’s wig? He really didn’t mean to.
Ren Xuan just felt exhausted. Now she understood—not everyone is cut out for live reality shows.
At least one thing was certain: Li Lijun definitely wasn’t.
There were already few guests left, and now two had fled, leaving only a handful.
She thought maybe it was best to give Li Lijun a break too.
He was too much of a liability.
The four remaining…
Suddenly struck by inspiration, Ren Xuan suggested, “How about rafting on the bamboo rafts? It’s also a good time to pick lotus pods.”
The fake CP pairing of Shen Yuwan and Liang Kang still had good traction—perfect for giving them a chance to shine.
Shen Yuwan immediately understood her intention and gladly agreed.
Li Fan was also quite interested. It was a cloudy day—hot, but not too sunny.
She went back to her room to grab a sun-protective jacket and brought down some sunscreen spray.
Ruan Li hadn’t brought any sunblock and came over to borrow some.
Li Fan refused.
“Why not? It’s just sunscreen!”
Li Fan stuffed the bottle into her bag. “Your face is too big.”
Ruan Li gritted her teeth in anger. “What do you mean my face is big?!”
“We’re not close, yet you’re borrowing my stuff? Isn’t that a bit bold?”
Li Fan ignored her and walked toward the bamboo rafts.
The show crew had hired two raft guides for them, who were already waiting.
In addition, there were two more rafts—one carrying production crew members, and the other carrying a safety officer.
The safety officer handed out bright orange life jackets.
Li Fan and Ruan Li obediently put theirs on.
When it was Liang Kang’s turn, he refused.
“I can swim. I don’t need this.”
Shen Yuwan found it ugly and smiled sweetly. “Liang Kang will take good care of me. I think I’ll skip it too.”
Liang Kang smiled indulgently. “Of course. I’d rather get hurt myself than see you harmed.”
As soon as Liang Kang stepped onto the bamboo raft, he got an idea and said, “Yuwan, how about I do the rowing?”
Just the two of them, undisturbed—it was perfect.
Although he knew the CP pairing was just a strategic move, Liang Kang still cherished the rare opportunity to grow closer to Shen Yuwan.
Shen Yuwan was skeptical. “Can you even do it?”
“I can. It looks pretty simple!” Liang Kang said confidently.
Shen Yuwan took his hand and got onto the raft with his help. Seeing how confident he was, she didn’t want to burst his bubble and agreed.
Liang Kang took the bamboo pole from the guide. He was a fast learner and quickly started to look the part.
Ruan Li and Li Fan sat side by side, gliding through the lotus pond. It was like a painting.
“There really are lotus pods! I want to pick some and eat the seeds!” Ruan Li exclaimed.
Li Fan glanced at them and decided against it.
“No need to pick any for me. I’ve got a sensitive stomach. Eating raw lotus seeds will give me diarrhea.”
Ruan Li froze mid-action. After thinking it over, she pulled her hand back.
“Better not, then. If I get a stomachache halfway through, that’d be so embarrassing.”
Shen Yuwan smiled and picked several lotus pods, breaking them open to extract the seeds.
“They’re actually sweet and refreshing. This kind of natural food—how could it upset your stomach? Since you can’t eat them, I’ll eat more for you.”
Not only did she eat, she even fed a few to Liang Kang.
Liang Kang giggled foolishly at the sweetness.
“Yuwan, you eat them yourself. Have more. Don’t worry about feeding me—just be careful and stay safe.”
In the livestream chat, viewers were going wild shipping them.
Li Fan couldn’t be bothered with them and had her guide steer in another direction.
She didn’t like watching couples show affection in public, especially not fake ones.
Seeing this, Shen Yuwan hurried Liang Kang to follow along.
What a waste it would be to throw out dog food with no audience to eat it!
With beautiful mountains and waters, blue skies and clear lake, Shen Yuwan couldn’t help but relax.
She kept popping lotus seeds into her mouth, finishing pod after pod, completely enjoying herself.
This lake, White Horse Lake, matched the name of the nearby village, White Horse Village.
White Horse Lake was vast. Even after rowing for half an hour, they couldn’t see the end.
They passed through many mountain caves, each revealing a new surprise.
Every scene here looked like a postcard.
However, at that moment, Shen Yuwan suddenly felt a sharp cramp in her stomach. It felt bloated, with air bubbling through her intestines.
She bit her lip, squeezing her legs together.
“Liang Kang, it’s getting kind of warm. Maybe we should head back?”
Li Fan turned to glance over and immediately noticed something was off about Shen Yuwan.
【What’s wrong with her?】
006: 【Hehehe, y’all jinxed her earlier. Ate too many raw lotus seeds—now she’s got a stomachache.】
Li Fan: “…” Ruan Li really was a jinx.
But Liang Kang hadn’t looked back at all and didn’t notice anything wrong.
He smiled and said, “The breeze is picking up—it’ll cool down soon. Yuwan, I’m really happy. I’m so glad I agreed to do this show. Otherwise, when would I ever have a chance to be this close to you? It’s such a rare opportunity. I really want to spend more time with you.”
Liang Kang’s affection for Shen Yuwan was like the endless lake—boundless and unceasing.
He kept rowing the bamboo raft while speaking passionately.
If his education had been better, he might’ve even composed a poem to honor their love.
But right at that poetic moment, Shen Yuwan couldn’t hold it in—and let out a fart.
Liang Kang paused mid-sentence and turned to look.
“What was that sound?”
Shen Yuwan forced a smile. After releasing the gas, her stomach felt much better.
Thankfully, she’d guessed right—it was just a fart.
“Sound? What sound? I didn’t hear anything.”
Liang Kang chuckled. “Must’ve been my imagination.”
