Chapter 35: Kill!
Margaret saw the hostility in Rein’s face and immediately backed away slightly, pulling the girl behind her with her.
Although Rein had never lost his temper at the Moulin Rouge, Margaret had witnessed his fury before.
“You fucking… ” Manny’s attendant snarled.
He had been about to explode, but when he saw Rein’s face, he swallowed his words.
It was obvious that he knew Rein.
However, he had still caught Rein’s attention.
Rein unleashed a heavy, powerful palm strike directly on the attendant’s face.
A faint purple glow shimmered in Rein’s hand as he struck.
The blow landed squarely on the attendant’s face, and he was sent sprawling.
Red welts and blisters formed on his face, he foamed at the mouth, and convulsed uncontrollably on the ground.
“Who the hell do you think you’re calling that?” Rein demanded.
Rein then kicked the attendant in the stomach, sending him crashing next to Manny.
Manny, who had just gotten up, was tripped by the fallen man and tumbled down again.
“Help!” Manny cried out.
Lying on the floor, Manny called toward his room.
Instantly, five or six figures appeared in his room.
At the sight of their Young Master’s state, they hurried forward to lift him up.
Still drunk, Manny pointed at Rein and shouted, “Kill him, kill him for me!”
The six men frowned tightly as they looked at Rein, whom their Young Master had singled out.
One of them clearly did not recognize Rein and raised his weapon, but another pulled him back.
One of the six leaned in close to Manny’s ear and said, “Young Master, that man is Rein.”
“I don’t care if he’s Rein, just get him and I’ll see to the killing charges,” Manny slurred.
“Move! If you don’t, I swear I’ll have you killed once we’re home.”
The six men tensed up and then turned to face Rein.
The two sides stood off against each other.
The girl behind Margaret watched the scene with utter shock.
“Madam, is that the same Young Master Rein you said would most likely grant me the blessing of light?”
Margaret nodded slightly, her expression growing more worried.
She guided the girl slowly toward the staircase.
She hoped to inform the knights downstairs of what was happening upstairs.
But before they could get close, the six men made their move.
Fiona, standing behind Rein, drew the jeweled sword at her waist and stepped forward.
Although Fiona was Rank 3, the six men were also Rank 2 advanced warriors.
The confrontation remained at a stalemate.
“Ha ha ha, perfect, just wonderful,” Rein laughed.
He clapped his hands in amusement as he watched Fiona clash with the six men.
Then Rein shouted at the top of his lungs.
“Guards!!”
Rein used magic to amplify his voice, and his command boomed through the Moulin Rouge.
Everyone present froze at the sudden roar.
Suddenly, they felt the floor tremble.
The Knight Captain dashed up the stairs in an instant.
Spotting Rein, he instinctively positioned himself behind Rein as a shield.
Two ranks of knights streamed in behind him.
The once-spacious third-floor parlor suddenly felt cramped.
Seeing Fiona still locked in combat with the six men, the Knight Captain issued an order, “Protect Young Master, subdue them all!”
The knights drew their longswords.
Dozens of cold-steel blades flickered menacingly in the torchlight.
In almost no time, the knights had overwhelmed and restrained the six.
Manny, still slightly drunk, blinked back to awareness at the sight.
He stared at Rein’s fierce expression in horror.
“What did I just do? How did I offend this disaster star?!”
The six restrained men, seeing the fully armed knights under a banner, also began to beg Rein for mercy.
“Young Master Rein, we… we meant no harm; otherwise we would have broken through the defenses of the person beside you long ago.”
They abandoned all thoughts of Manny and pleaded only with Rein.
“Heh, do you know why I only called for help after you attacked each other?” Rein asked.
The men shook their heads, but one suddenly went limp at the thought.
“Because I’m a man of reason, and under the Empire law, any civilian who attacks a noble, regardless of their status, is sentenced to… death!”
Rein’s words made the men’s pupils dilate in terror.
They seemed about to speak again.
The Knight Captain looked at Rein and asked, “Young Master Rein, what shall we do with them?”
Rein touched the scratches on Fiona’s light armor.
“Kill them,” he said.
Instantly, the knights understood the command.
Their longswords fell like blades of judgment.
Six heads dropped to the floor.
Blood spurted like fountains.
The third-floor parlor was immediately stained crimson.
Rein remained unbloodied thanks to the Battle Qi barrier the Knight Captain had placed before him.
Manny, however, was splattered with blood and watched the scene in horror.
“Aaaah!” Manny screamed.
The six warriors, their qi still strong, gushed blood from their severed throats for a long time before it finally slowed.
A thin pool of blood covered the floor of the third-floor hall.
Manny watched as Rein slowly approached, stepping through the blood and sending droplets flying, and he recoiled in terror.
“No! You can’t kill me!”
Seeing Rein’s hand land on his face, Manny was so terrified he lost control of his bowels.
His voice quivered with sobs as tears streamed down his cheeks.
“No, no…” Manny muttered continuously.
Rein patted Manny’s bloodstained face in reassurance.
“Don’t be afraid, Manny.”
Manny gradually quieted as he listened to Rein.
Suddenly.
Rein grabbed Manny’s head and smashed it violently onto the floor.
“Bang!”
A dull thud echoed through the room.
Manny’s jaw dislocated instantly.
Manny’s fear of Rein intensified at that moment.
Rein seized Manny’s hair and slowly pulled him to his feet.
“When you get home later, your father, Marquis Torres, can ask you whatever questions he wants.”
“But if I ever see you at the Moulin Rouge again, you know the consequences.”
Having said his final warning, Rein patted the nearly stunned Manny.
“Off with you.”
Hearing those words felt like freedom, and Manny scrambled to his feet and raced down the stairs, forgetting even his attendant.
Watching Manny’s retreating figure, Rein slowly stood.
He formed a sphere of water in his hand and washed the blood from his hands.
“Honestly, I just wanted to watch some dancing, and this much trouble for something so simple.”
Rein walked back to his room through the pool of blood.
The knights tossed the six bodies aside and stood guard at the door.
Seeing that the matter was settled, Margaret instructed the girl behind her, “Go back to your room.”
The girl glanced longingly at Rein’s door, but seeing the wounds on Margaret’s face, she nodded and obediently headed down.
Watching the girl descend, Margaret took a deep breath and slowly entered Rein’s room.
“Young Master Rein, shall I go and find a few dancers for you now?”
Rein, seated and using water magic to clean the blood from his shoes, looked up at Margaret.
He tapped his finger, and a disc of pink magic flowed from his hand.
[Junior Healing Spell]
Margaret’s wounded face began to gradually heal.
“Mm, go fetch them, and it would be best to have dancers skilled in different styles.”
Feeling her cheeks restore, Margaret nodded.
“Very well, Young Master Rein.”
