Chapter 65: Selling Wild Boars on the Black Market

“Idiot,” Yun Siying said, then turned away, ignoring the two fools.

The two of them were hungry and broke, so they had no choice but to walk back to the village. When Shu Ruxue and Shen Subai trudged wearily into the village, the news that their money had been stolen again had already spread throughout the village, giving everyone a new topic to gossip about.

Yun Siying used her mental power to quickly locate the entrance to the black market. Two gangsters stood there lazily on guard. She turned into a deserted alley, took out a military green sun hat and put it on, then added a pair of sunglasses and a mask.

Next, she pulled a cart out of her space, placed a wild boar weighing around 300 pounds on it, covered it with a layer of black oilcloth, and pushed the cart out of the alley toward the two guards. The gangsters glanced at her outfit, unsurprised, people coming to the black market never wanted to reveal their identities, and their outfits came in all varieties. There was nothing they couldn’t do, only things you couldn’t imagine.

“Stop. Buying or selling?” one of them asked.

“Selling. All good stuff,” Yun Siying replied with a mysterious smile, quickly handing over two cents as an entrance fee.

“Let me see.” One gangster lifted a corner of the oilcloth and saw a wild boar, it looked like a full-grown adult. He asked eagerly, “Did you hunt this yourself?”

“Of course.”

“Can you keep supplying more in the future?”

“Depends on the price here.”

“Come with me.” The gangster led Yun Siying into the black market, winding through several alleys before stopping in front of a building and knocking rhythmically on the door.

After a while, someone opened it. The man wore glasses and had a scholarly look. “Why did you bring someone in?”

“Brother Jun, she brought in a wild boar.” The black market had been short on meat lately, and he had a hunch this woman wasn’t a spy from the public security bureau or the GWH.

“Alright, let her in.” The visitor was already at the door, there was no turning her away now.

At the weighing station, Jun lifted the oilcloth and saw the adult wild boar around 300 pounds. He said, “I’ll pay you by gross weight, one yuan per pound. Is that acceptable?”

“Sure. How much can you take at most?” Yun Siying thought the price was decent. On the black market, it could go for about 1.30 yuan per pound, but she didn’t have that kind of time. The meat processing plants only paid 0.80–0.90 yuan per pound and required meat coupons.

“Do you have more?” Jun’s eyes lit up as he looked at Yun Siying like a dog spotting a meat bone, which made her a bit uneasy.

“Well, I was planning to sell them in the city, but I left a little late today, so I came to the county to test the waters,” Yun Siying replied casually, with no hint of guilt.

“We can handle three wild boars a day. How many do you have?” Jun adjusted his glasses.

“What a coincidence. I just happen to have two more wild boars on hand,” Yun Siying said. She released her mental power and spotted a collapsed house not far from the black market only the woodshed seemed usable.

“I want both of them,” Jun said decisively.

“Okay, have someone come with me. They’re a bit too heavy for me to push on my own. My ‘brothers’ are off eating right now.” Yun Siying got the wild boar off the cart. When you’re trying to make a living, you have to give yourself a backstory.

“Okay, Shitou, take two of the guys and go with this comrade to bring the wild boars back,” Jun said.

Yun Siying led the three men to the collapsed house without any trouble, as if she’d walked by it countless times before. She had already placed the wild boars from her space into the woodshed. “Brothers, the goods are in the woodshed,” she said.

When the three saw the two large wild boars inside, they exclaimed, “Comrade, you really know how to pick a good hiding spot.”

Soon, they returned to the original room. When Jun saw the two big wild boars, his heart surged with excitement, he could make a fortune today.

“Weigh them.”

“Three wild boars in total, 1,131 catties. That’s 1,131 yuan altogether,” Jun said, working the abacus with his hand.

“Sounds right.” Yun Siying was delighted. She still had over ten wild boars in her space. It looked like there was real money to be made here. The deep mountains were like her personal treasure trove, her ticket to wealth. Plus, it was quick money, much faster than writing novels. She decided to stop writing and devote her time to developing her supernatural abilities and training.

“Come in and have a cup of tea. I’ll go get the money,” Jun now spoke much more respectfully to Yun Siying.

“Sorry for the trouble.” Yun Siying wasn’t afraid at all. Even without her powers, she could easily take these people down.

Once inside, Jun poured her a cup of tea. Watching her drink it so casually without a hint of wariness, he couldn’t help but admire her nerve. Then he went into another room and returned shortly after, handing her a stack of large-denomination bills. “Comrade, please count it.”

Yun Siying scanned the money with her mental power and, seeing that not a penny was missing, slipped it into her pocket. “I trust Brother Jun’s character.”

“Hahaha, I like your straightforward nature. If you’ve got more goods, bring them here next time,” Jun Ge said with a laugh.

“Alright, I’ll bring you three more wild boars tomorrow afternoon.”

“Really?” Jun Ge was even more thrilled now.

“Of course. I always keep my word,” Yun Siying said, though, truth be told, that depended on the person.

When Yun Siying arrived at the city gate, Nangong Ruochen was already waiting for her on his bicycle. She ran over joyfully. “Nangong Ruochen, you really came to pick me up!”

Yun Siying felt a bit emotional. In her previous life, ever since her parents died, no one had treated her like this. This warmth made her nostalgic.

“Yeah. Hop on. I’ll make something delicious for you when we get back. We still haven’t eaten yesterday’s meat!” Nangong Ruochen looked at the genuine smile on her face. He was momentarily captivated but quickly snapped out of it, making sure she didn’t notice his thoughts.

Back at the educated youth station, they saw Wang Haixia and Jiang Datuo moving Yun Siying’s belongings.

Sitting on the back of Nangong Ruochen’s bicycle, Yun Siying smiled sweetly and said to Wang Haixia, “Comrade Wang, congratulations on finding your ideal husband.”

“You…” Wang Haixia looked at the scene before her, her heart aching with jealousy to the point of madness. Hearing Yun Siying’s sarcastic words, a flash of malice crossed her eyes.

Nangong Ruochen noticed it too. He shot Wang Haixia a sharp glance, his aura suddenly shifting, causing her to take two frightened steps back.

Then he turned to Yun Siying, rubbed her head gently with his big hand, and said, “You little troublemaker.”

Yun Siying stuck out her tongue playfully.
