Chapter 29: I apologize to my daughter?
Xie Lin’s calm voice held undeniable authority.
Apologizing to his daughter?
This was a humiliation for Lin Weimin! But thinking of Xie Lin’s background, he swallowed his pride.
He’d had a chance to become factory director using Zhao Fanghua’s family connections, but after her death, Zhao’s family held a grudge, and he remained a lowly production supervisor.
Now his daughter had such a powerful boyfriend, he had to curry favor.
“So…sorry, Wanwan, Dad was wrong, I shouldn’t have wronged you.” Lin Weimin, adaptable, went from wanting to beat her to groveling.
Xie Lin’s expression remained unchanged, showing neither satisfaction nor dissatisfaction. Lin Weimin felt uneasy, then had an idea.
He turned to Tan Qiuyue and Lin Yirou. “Hurry, apologize to Wanwan.”
Tan Qiuyue couldn’t believe her husband, who she’d been proud of, was apologizing to Zhao Fanghua’s “bastard child,” and wanted her to apologize too. Her eyes reddened with anger.
“I won’t apologize!” Why should she apologize? Suspecting Lin Yiwan was normal, wasn’t it?
Lin Yirou, looking at the powerful man, tears welled in her eyes. How could he force her? Pale and frail, she looked in need of protection. But he didn’t even glance at her.
The onlookers remained silent, fearing Xie Lin would make them apologize.
Lin Yiwan sneered at their pathetic display. “Instead of blaming others, ask your precious son. I heard he’s going to the countryside today. Maybe he stole the money?”
Lin Weimin, recently returned, didn’t know his son had left. A flicker of displeasure crossed his face, but seeing Xie Lin, he softened his voice.
“Wanwan, are you joking? Your brother is at school, right?” His feigned gentleness made Lin Yiwan shudder.
Tan Qiuyue, still reeling from her son leaving and the theft, glared at Lin Yiwan. “Did you know Haohao was going to the countryside?”
Lin Yiwan smiled indifferently. “Yes, I sent him food a few days ago, and he told me he was going.”
Hearing she knew and didn’t tell her, Tan Qiuyue was consumed by rage. “You little bitch! You knew and didn’t tell me! I’ll kill you!” She lunged at Lin Yiwan.
But Lin Weimin grabbed her. “Enough! What’s wrong with you? Haohao going to the countryside is a good thing, we should be proud!”
His son’s departure was irreversible; he couldn’t offend his daughter’s powerful connection. He could possibly become factory director.
He hadn’t been able to before because of the Zhao family.
Now the old man was gone, and his sisters-in-law weren’t close to Tan Qiuyue; she depended on him. Lin Weimin was rational, almost cold-blooded.
He weighed the pros and cons quickly.
Tan Qiuyue looked at him incredulously. “You’re scolding me? How can you?”
Lin Weimin’s lips were tight, his face impatient. “Your ideology is flawed, I’m being lenient. If you keep this up, I’ll divorce you!”
Tan Qiuyue’s face turned pale! Lin Weimin grabbed her arm and pulled her to Lin Yiwan. “Apologize to Wanwan! Say you wronged her!”
Lin Yirou, still processing the divorce threat, saw her mother being dragged to Lin Yiwan. The shock almost made her faint.
How could her father do this? Didn’t he love her mother and her most? Why was he treating her mother like this for Lin Yiwan?
Tan Qiuyue hadn’t suffered such humiliation since coming to the city. Being forced to apologize to Zhao Fanghua’s “bastard child” by the man she thought loved her most? The disparity felt like her heart was being torn apart.
Her eyes red with hatred, she said through gritted teeth, “Sorry!”
“Sorry for what?” Lin Yiwan asked, feigning innocence.
“Lin Yiwan! How can you be so vicious? My mother is your elder, how dare you humiliate her?” Lin Yirou, looking like a frightened rabbit, bravely accused Lin Yiwan.
Song Huaiqing felt pity and tried to intervene. “Wanwan, you should…” But Xie Lin’s gaze stopped him. Xie Lin didn’t object to Lin Yiwan’s actions. Lin Weimin pinched Tan Qiuyue.
“Apologize properly!”
Tan Qiuyue cried, forced to apologize.
“Sorry! I wrongly accused you of stealing.”
Lin Yiwan looked at Lin Yirou. Lin Yirou fainted.
“Yirou!” Song Huaiqing shouted, rushing forward. He wanted to criticize Lin Yiwan for being too harsh, but seeing Xie Lin, he swallowed his words.
The onlookers, intimidated by Xie Lin, didn’t speak, but their eyes showed disapproval. They felt Lin Yiwan was too aggressive. Why be so harsh to family?
Feeling their gazes, Lin Yiwan sneered inwardly, shouting, “Careful! Snake!”
Lin Yirou, who had “fainted,” screamed and jumped up!
