Chapter 3

Sui Jingxing carefully helped her sit up from the bed and helped her put on her slippers.

“Can you get down? Do you want me to carry you over?”

She waved her hands. Her bladder needed to be released urgently and her stomach couldn’t withstand any degree of squeezing.

With his support, I slowly walked to the bathroom at the end of the corridor.

“Or I’d better call a nurse for you.”

Lu Anning shook her head again, rejected his suggestion, held on to the wall, and walked into the women’s restroom under Sui Jingxing’s gaze.

She couldn’t hold it any longer, and by the time the nurse came, she would have lost control of her urination and had urinary incontinence.

After releasing himself in the bathroom, Lu Anning walked out with the help of the wall, feeling relaxed.

Standing in front of the sink outside, Sui Jingxing noticed her intention and immediately went forward to help her turn on the faucet.

After washing his hands, he helped her back to the ward.

“Just lie down for a while. I’m going to go out for a while and will be back soon.”

After saying that, he ran out quickly.

About ten minutes later, Sui Jingxing returned to the ward with a small notebook and a pen in his hand.

“I may not be able to understand what you mean so quickly. If you have anything you want to say to me or anything you want me to do later, you can write it down and tell me.”

He placed the book and pen next to her pillow and sat down in the chair again.

“Before coming here, I called my father-in-law. He was very worried about you and said he would come as soon as possible.”

Lu Anning just said “hmm” and nothing else.

After a few seconds of awkwardness, Sui Jingxing continued speaking.

“Are you hungry?”

“Mrs. Fan has made some rice porridge. Would you like to have some first?”

This time she chose to nod.

She was indeed a little hungry, and her mouth was tasteless and even a little bitter.

Sui Jingxing took a small bowl, poured half a bowl of porridge into it, added a spoonful of sugar, stirred it evenly, and placed it on the cabinet next to the bed.

“Let me help you sit up first. It will be more convenient to eat while sitting down.”

Seeing that Lu Anning did not refuse, he helped her sit up and considerately placed a pillow behind her back for her to lean on.

Then he picked up the bowl and started feeding her porridge.

Even though the atmosphere between the two was a little awkward, Lu Anning could only choose to accept it for the time being, because she was indeed very weak at the moment. Going to the toilet just now had already consumed most of her body’s energy.

……

Father Lu, who was far away in the Beijing Military District, had just received a call from Sui Jingxing and slumped down in his chair, not moving for a long time.

Jingxing and Lu Anning have only been together for a month, so he may not be very familiar with her.

But as a father who watched Lu Anning grow from a five-pound baby to an adult, how could he not know that Lu Anning actually committed suicide and it was not an accidental ingestion as the doctor claimed.

She has been staying at home since she was a child, not going to school, and not making friends with anyone.

In order to prevent her from being bored, her family would do their best to collect a variety of books for her to read.

My mother, brother and sister-in-law are all doctors. She has read a lot of medical books. How could she not know that cephalexin and alcohol cannot be taken together?!

Lu Sheng sat on the chair, wiping his tears silently.

This was not Lu Anning’s first attempt at suicide; the family had experienced it four times before.

She couldn’t bear to see her family see her damaged skin and hair, so she chose to only harm the inside of her body every time she tried to end her life.

It was never improvisational, but deliberate.

They thought that if they let her get married, live in a new environment and meet different people, things would get better.

But it’s only been a month! Only a month!

Lu Sheng picked up the hat on the table, called his guard, and immediately drove to the hospital where his wife worked.

An Nianzhi and Lu Sheng have been married for more than 20 years. Looking at her husband with red eyes, she knew that something must have happened to Lu Anning.

“Is she…still…alive?”

She didn’t know how she asked this question, and even wanted to cover her ears, afraid of hearing a bad answer.

“Alive. He was in a coma for two days. He was rescued and Jingxing is guarding him in the hospital.”

An Nianzhi squatted on the ground, gritting her teeth and crying.

“Nianzhi, can you take a few days off? Let’s go to Yan City together to see Lu Anning.”

In addition to seeing Lu Anning, he also wanted to talk to Jing Xing, and more importantly, apologize to him, saying that it was their Lu family who was wrong.

“Okay, I’ll go find the dean right away!”

The next day.

Lu Sheng and An Nianzhi boarded a plane and headed to Yan City.

It was almost six in the evening when we arrived at Yanshi Military Hospital.

After asking along the way, the two successfully found the ward where Lu Anning was.

An Nianzhi stood by the door and saw her daughter leaning on the hospital bed, eating obediently with a spoon. She didn’t dare to make a sound to disturb her, so she walked over with light steps.

“Dad, Mom, you are here, please sit down.”

Yesterday on the phone, my father-in-law said he would come as soon as possible. He thought it would take at least two days, but he didn’t expect him to come today.

“Have you eaten yet?”

“We haven’t eaten yet, don’t worry, we’re not hungry for now.”

They had no appetite at all now and just wanted to take a good look at their daughter.

Lu Anning looked up at her father and mother, who were standing by the bed with worried faces. This couple would be her parents in the future.

She imitated the original owner and called their parents with her mouth.

“No need to talk, just continue eating.”

“Do you want your mother to feed you?”

She shook her head.

After waking up, she has rested for a day. Except for occasional dizziness, she has no other symptoms and everything is returning to normal.

Lu’s father and mother stood beside her and stared at her while she ate, which made her feel a little uncomfortable. She patted the seat next to the bed and motioned for them to sit down.

“Okay, Mom and Dad, sit down and eat obediently.”

The original owner’s parents really doted on her.

Although she is already eighteen years old, Lu’s mother still speaks to her as if she is talking to a child of a few years old, with a tone full of doting.

She had almost finished eating before they came.

Under the concerned gaze of Lu’s mother, she ate a few more bites and put the spoon and bowl on the small cabinet next to her.

“Why don’t you eat anymore? Isn’t there still half a bowl left?”

Lu’s mother was worried that she would lose her appetite due to her illness.

Faced with her concerns, Lu Anning touched his stomach and told his mother that he was full.

“Okay, Lu Anning, since you’re full, forget it. It’s not good to eat too much at night.”

“Are you feeling any discomfort anywhere else?”

She wanted to shake her head, but the thought of shaking her head made her even more dizzy, so she picked up the small notebook beside her and wrote the word “dizzy” on it.

“You feel dizzy?”

“How long have you been dizzy?”

“Has the doctor seen it?”

“Should you ask him to prescribe some anti-sickness medicine?”

The series of questions made Lu Anning, who was already feeling dizzy, even more dizzy.
