After leaving the Adventurer’s Guild, they walked down the main street.
“Mika, since we’re spending the day in this town, where would you like to go?”
Dada cheerfully asked by her ear. Lately, whenever there was little danger, Dada had made it a habit to perch on Mika’s shoulder.
For Mika, who loved cute things, having the tiny Dada—with her beautiful wings—sitting on her shoulder was a delightful feeling.
“Well, it’s still a bit early for lunch, so I’d like to check out some stores that sell clothes and daily necessities.”
Even in another world, as a housewife, she couldn’t pass up household goods!
And so, from here on out, Zurah guided them around town.
“This shop sells everyday clothes. Since sizes vary drastically depending on the race, there are many specialty stores, but this one is a large shop that carries clothing for all kinds of races. I think they’ll have something that fits you, Mika.”
Lately, Zurah had grown more comfortable and spoke more casually. The small floral patterns engraved on her leather armor also gave her a girlish charm.
The store was spacious enough that Mika could walk around without feeling cramped. From clothes so small they looked like they were for dolls to sizes that would likely fit Mika, there was indeed a wide variety.
“I haven’t met anyone of the same race as me yet. What kind of people are they?”
“The tallest are a race called lizardmen. Most are about the same height as you, Mika, and their appearance closely resembles ogres.”
“Lizardmen live far away in their own country, so not many come here. But I’m sure you’ll meet one eventually. Look, this dress is for lizardmen, but wouldn’t it fit you perfectly?”
The one Zurah picked out was a light green dress with yellow floral embroidery on the chest—utterly adorable. It was a design that would take some courage for someone Mika’s age to wear, but both Dada and Gatt enthusiastically encouraged her.
In this world, skirts were common regardless of gender. Apparently, this was because many races had tails, making pants inconvenient. Preferred colors also varied more by race than by gender, so the store’s sections were organized by size, with completely different color schemes in each.
The section with smaller clothes—likely for birdfolk—had many bright, vibrant colors like white and orange. The children’s section, around Gatt’s size, featured more subdued tones like beige and black.
The section for lizardmen and lizardman-sized clothing was dominated by cool colors like green and blue. Of course, that wasn’t all they had.
Though the selection was limited, the lizardman section had many cute outfits. Encouraged by everyone, Mika decided to buy the dress from earlier.
When she brought it to the clerk, they scanned her guild tag with a box slightly smaller than a tissue case.
“Thank you. That will be 1,200G.”
After paying, she was expected to put the item straight into her own bag. No shopping bags were provided.
“Clothes in your size are a bit more expensive, huh?”
When Zurah said that, Mika checked the price tags on the smaller-sized clothes nearby. She had only recently learned this world’s numerals, but she could make out:
“Umm… 9… 8… 0.. 980G!”
A blue dress very similar to the one she had bought was priced at 980G.
“Maybe I should get one too, so we can match?”
“Yes! That sounds lovely—let’s match!”
The two left the store happily, each holding their matching dresses.
Meanwhile, Dada and Gatt exchanged glances and shrugged, as if to say, Finally, one store down.
