90: Back to the Month Before my Husband’s Tragic Death Chapter 58

Chapter 58: Lost, steal money?

“The old Su family, quietly, so rich.”

Everyone was shocked by this extravagant display of wealth.

Su Ai and Ji Yang continued to live their good lives behind closed doors.

In the meantime, Qi Xiuer had been going to the city frequently these days, taking photos, getting her marriage certificate, and buying clothes and red cloth.

She and Su Peng were busy every day.  Qi Xiuer also constantly flattered Su Peng, so Su Peng hadn’t had time to go to the mahjong parlor since winning a little over one hundred yuan that day.

The people at the mahjong parlor were jumping up and down with anxiety. They weren’t doing charity; they were trying to make money from Su Peng.

With so much money spent, if Su Peng didn’t come back, they’d lose a lot.

After investigating, they found out that Su Peng was getting married.

Everyone had to hold back.

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, it was Su Peng’s big day.

Several villages were filled with festive cheer.

A beautiful red dress, a veil, a red carpet on the ground, and the buzz from the past few days meant that many people looked at Qi Xiuer with envy.

Qi Xiuer was overjoyed.

Everything was exactly as she had imagined.

This is how her wedding should be: high-profile and unique.

Qi Xiuer first looked at where Su Ai was sitting and nodded with a smile.

Su Ai smiled back, looking at the happy Qi Xiuer.

Enjoy it while it lasts; wait a little longer, and maybe you won’t be happy anymore.

Su Ai was there to eat and drink for free.

She didn’t give a cent.

Ji Yang was standing beside her.  It had been almost a month since they returned from the city, and Ji Yang could now walk a few steps without his cane.

As long as he didn’t walk or stand for too long, it was fine.

Ji Yang was wearing a shirt, trousers, and a black thin overcoat, standing beside Su Ai. Su Ai was wearing a dark green long-sleeved cheongsam, attracting many glances.

It was almost April, and it was a sunny day, the temperature was quite high, a simple long-sleeved top was enough.

“Let’s go, there’s probably no good show to watch today.”

As long as Qi Xiuer saw her, today’s mission would be considered complete.

Su Ai went home. As for attending this lousy wedding banquet?  It was better to make a bowl of noodles at home.

Qi Xiuer didn’t see Su Ai when she was toasting and was a little surprised.

Su Peng said she might be helping her parents take care of the guests, and Qi Xiuer didn’t think much of it.

That night, everything was joyful.

Su Peng finally got the goddess he had always dreamed of.

Sounds, long and short.

Intermittent sounds lasted until dawn.

However, when is the best time for something? It’s when you’re about to get it, but haven’t yet.

When is it the most tasteless?

After you get it.

Su Peng had been busy for many days preparing for the wedding.

He hadn’t been to the mahjong parlor for several days, but this morning, he was called by the two brothers and got up immediately to get dressed.

Qi Xiuer was extremely tired and mumbled sleepily when she heard the noise.

“Husband, what are you going to do?”

Su Peng kissed his wife.

“Your husband is going out to make money to support you.”

Su Peng left directly, and Qi Xiuer fell asleep again.

When the sun was high in the sky, she was woken up again.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she heard Li Cuihua’s nagging voice outside.

“Spending so much money on you, an old hen, but you’re useless.”

“You don’t even lay eggs, and you’re lazy to death!”

“I’ll beat you to death, you lazy thing!”

“Sleep, sleep, sleep, all you know is sleep!”

“I’ll beat you to death!”

“Look at your flashy feathers, you’re clearly a restless little slut.”

Li Cuihua unleashed a torrent of abuse at the chicken coop; even a fool would know she wasn’t scolding the chickens.

Qi Xiuer turned over in bed, rolling her eyes.

She silently cursed “idiot” and continued to sleep.

But when she woke up in the morning, Su Peng wasn’t home, resulting in her getting scolded, and Qi Xiuer was unhappy.

Since she was going to sleep, she might as well sleep longer. Qi Xiuer slept until noon, and Li Cuihua was furious.

Back when she first got married, she had to get up in the morning to cook for the whole family.  Who is this lazy woman who doesn’t get up in the morning, and doesn’t even get up at noon?

“Qi Xiuer!”

“Get up!”

Li Cuihua pounded on the door: “You little slut, get up and work!  What kind of new daughter-in-law sleeps until this hour?”

“Do you even have any shame, little bitch?”

“Lazy and unwilling to work hard, our family spent so much money to marry you, do you want to die?”

Qi Xiuer had actually woken up and was about to get up to eat.

But seeing Li Cuihua’s demeanor, Qi Xiuer paused, sat back down in the room.

She didn’t say a word.

She found some food in the room and ate some with water from a cup, filling her stomach.

She was also angry.

She had known Li Cuihua wasn’t easy to get along with, but she didn’t expect it to start on the very first day.

She absolutely couldn’t lose today.

Otherwise, she would have no status in this family.

At the same time, she was increasingly resentful towards Su Peng, who hadn’t come home by noon.

The Su family was feuding, but Su Peng left the mahjong parlor in a daze in the afternoon.

He had lost today.

He lost after winning for so many days.

He lost five hundred yuan.

Almost all the money he had won these days was gone.

Su Peng wiped his face, feeling unable to accept it.

The two brothers came out too, smiling and saying to Su Peng: “Brother, don’t be discouraged, you must have had bad luck today.”

“Usually your luck is amazing, who can beat you? But people can’t always let you win, right?”

“We’ve been losing for so many days.”

“You only lost one round, it means your luck is even better.”

“Come again tomorrow, brother, you’ll definitely win tomorrow.”

“You’ll win it all back then.”

Su Peng forced a smile and went home.

When he got home, it was already dark. Li Cuihua immediately rushed over to complain to Su Peng, nagging incessantly.

Su Peng was already in a bad mood, and now hearing his mother say all the bad things about Qi Xiuer…

Su Peng stormed into the room and saw Qi Xiuer crying.

“Husband, you’re finally back, I haven’t eaten all day.”

“Wuwuwu, where did you go?”

Su Peng originally wanted to cause trouble, but then…

Oh, then somehow, he ended up in bed with Qi Xiuer and scolded Li Cuihua.

Su Peng was in a very bad mood today, venting his anger forcefully. Qi Xiuer didn’t feel happy; she only felt uncomfortable.

She had to comfort Su Peng: “Husband, what’s wrong?”

“Are you unhappy? Tell me what’s bothering you.”

Su Peng didn’t want to say. If he had won, he would have told her, but now that he had lost so much, he couldn’t.

He would tell her after he won the money back.

So the next day, Su Peng got up very early, tiptoed to steal the money Li Cuihua had put away, and ran out.

He just wanted to borrow the money for a day; once he won, he would pay it back; no one would know.
