Chapter 115: This Little Brat Really Dared to Flip the Table Again
Li Fenlan bit down hard on her lip until blood began to seep out. Only then did she sigh and speak slowly:
“Dad, I’ll try to gather the money for Wengang to transfer schools. But he can’t live at my house, and Mingcheng can’t tutor him either.”
She thought her refusal would be straightforward, but unexpectedly, Li Fenlan refused!
Li Dayong became anxious:
“Big sis, do you have no conscience? Wengang is your nephew! It’s just letting him stay for a while, how much can that cost you? How about this—I’ll give you five yuan a month, that should be enough, right?”
So what he really meant was: not only should Li Fenlan pay for Li Wengang’s school, but also feed and house him! And now he offered five yuan a month like it was some huge favor. As if anyone needed his measly five yuan!
Xie Yunshu sneered coldly:
“Uncle, you really know how to make a deal! How about this—I’ll come live at your place, and I’ll give you five yuan a month. You feed and take care of me, how about that?”
Li Dayong’s face turned red with anger, the flesh on his face even trembled:
“Xie Yunshu, you’re just a married daughter, don’t meddle in your maternal family’s affairs! What does Wengang staying there have to do with you? This is none of your business!”
“Oh really? Well, it just became my business.”
Xie Yunshu curled her lips:
“I’ve divorced Lu Zhi’an. I’m living at my mother’s place now. If Wengang comes, there’ll be nowhere for him to stay! Also, my mother’s money has to be spent on me and my brother. Not to mention fifty yuan—not even five mao will go to anyone else!”
“What did you say?!”
That sentence stunned everyone. Li Xiuqin shrieked and stared at Xie Yunshu:
“You said you divorced who?!”
Xie Yunshu looked at her calmly:
“Lu Zhi’an. So what? I didn’t tell you when I got married, why should I tell you in advance when I get divorced? It’s not like you gave me a dowry, and you sure won’t be giving me a divorce gift either.”
Divorce gift?! What even is that?!
Li Xiuqin’s eyes bulged so wide they almost popped out. She pointed at Xie Yunshu, her fingers trembling so hard she couldn’t speak for a while. Finally, she screamed:
“You little slut! How dare you divorce Dr. Lu! Tell me—did you do something to betray the Lu family?! Your uncle and Wengang are going to move to the city soon—I was going to ask the Lu family to help get him a job! And you—you went and divorced him without a word?!”
The room fell silent. Even Yingzi and Xiaoshuang, who were eating in the kitchen, came out and stared, too stunned to say a word.
Li Fenlan clenched her fists:
“Mom! You can’t say that about Yunshu! It was Lu Zhi’an who wronged her, not the other way around!”
“If no man wants her, then it’s her fault!” Li Xiuqin spat as she shouted. The fake kindness she’d shown earlier completely vanished. The way she looked at Xie Yunshu—there wasn’t a trace of a grandmother’s love, only sheer hatred!
Li Shenggen finally snapped out of it. His old face was dark and blotchy. Just now this little brat had the nerve to grab so much chicken at dinner—turns out she’s just a useless woman who couldn’t even keep a man!
He pointed furiously at Xie Yunshu’s nose and cursed:
“You’re just like your mother—useless! One married a man who died early, the other got dumped by hers! You’re nothing but a pair of jinxes! You’ve shamed our whole Li family!”
“Li Fenlan, let me tell you this: as long as I’m your father, you’ll do as I say and support Wengang’s schooling! And hurry up and marry off that loser daughter of yours—doesn’t matter who, just get more bride price. Wengang’s college tuition won’t pay itself! That house will go to Wengang! You and your sister—fifty yuan each. Not a single cent less! Anyone who refuses can get out of this family!”
As he ranted on, he called Xie Yunshu every filthy name in the book. Li Fenlan’s eyes turned red with rage:
“Dad! Yunshu is your own granddaughter—don’t you care that people will talk if you curse her like that?!”
Xie Mingcheng clenched his fists tight, his eyes bloodshot. He’d been taught from a young age never to raise a hand against elders. But these two old people were pushing him to the brink of losing control.
Li Shenggen wasn’t about to back down. He’d tolerated the mother and daughter only because Yunshu had married into the Lu family. Now that his chance to vent was here, he wouldn’t hold back.
His face twisted with fury as he raised his hand and aimed a hard slap at Li Fenlan’s face:
“It’s all your fault—raising a daughter like this just to oppose me! I’ll say it again—get rid of this worthless girl and marry her off now!”
But the slap didn’t land as expected. Xie Yunshu stepped forward and blocked it. The heavy slap hit her shoulder instead. Even through her padded coat, it stung. That’s how much force he’d used!
“Jie!” Mingcheng called in a low voice, stepping up to shield her:
“Let’s go. We’re never coming back again!”
If they weren’t afraid of their mother being bullied, he and his sister would’ve stayed away for life! Every time they came, they were called ungrateful. No matter what they did, they had to give way to Li Wengang—not because he was older, but because his surname was Li.
Li Shenggen was still shouting:
“Disrespecting elders—you’re not afraid of being struck by lightning?!”
Xie Yunshu pushed Xie Mingcheng aside. Without a word, expressionless, she took a step forward and gave the dining table a hard kick. The whole thing flipped over with a crash—chicken bones and soup spilled across the floor, bowls and chopsticks shattered.
Li Xiuqin stumbled back in shock and pain. She was fuming—this little brat really dared to flip the table again!
But Xie Yunshu wasn’t done. She grabbed a chair and smashed it to the ground. She picked up the broken backrest in her hand:
“If the heavens want to strike someone, let it be me! It has nothing to do with my mom! Whoever wants to be in this crappy family can stay—my family’s never coming back!”
She finished and turned her sharp gaze on Li Wengang:
“If anyone dares shamelessly show up at my house, I’ll get up in the middle of the night and stab them to death! If someone won’t let me live, then none of you will either!”
Li Dayong had wanted to scold this niece, but now he didn’t dare take a step forward. He only had one precious son, and all his hopes for continuing the family line rested on Wengang. If this lunatic Xie Yunshu really stabbed him—what then?!
Yingzi clutched Xiaoshuang tightly in the corner, not daring to make a sound. Her son didn’t need her protection, and she had no say in anything. She couldn’t even protect her own daughter—what use was she?
If only she could go mad like Yunshu just once… maybe Xiaoshuang wouldn’t have been forced to drop out of school…
Li Shenggen had always ruled this household with an iron fist. Now, being challenged by a girl like this, he spat:
“Xie Yunshu, I’m your grandfather! You dare touch a hair on me and you’ll burn in hell! You’ve got no dad and no man now—how are you going to survive?!”
“I’ll live just fine, even if your ashes are scattered in the wind!” Xie Yunshu sneered and smashed two more chairs:
“If anyone dares lay a finger on my mom today, I’ll get a knife from the kitchen and cut you all down! I’ve got no dad and no man—I’ve got nothing to lose!”
She finished speaking, and her menacing eyes landed on Li Wengang…
A madwoman is the scariest thing of all. Her fury was enough to make even Li Shenggen, who had dominated the family for decades, freeze in place.
