Reborn in the ’80s: Pampered to the Heavens by the Military Officer After Divorce Chapter 134

Chapter 134: Comrade Xie Yunshu Truly Knows How to Be Grateful and Recompense

Actually, there were quite a few idle women in the tube-shaped apartment building, but Xie Yunshu didn’t consider the others for now. She couldn’t run a business using only acquaintances — if she relied on one auntie here and one neighbor there, how would she manage?

Moreover, not every woman was as hardworking as Aunt Zhao. Many were busybodies, fond of small gains, lazy and fond of eating without working. Xie Yunshu grew up in the tube building, so she clearly knew who had what kind of personality.

The next day, Xie Yunshu rode her motorcycle, carrying several large pots at the back. The construction site had just started, with only a few workers, and besides Ji Si’an, the project department didn’t have many staff. Since the Spring Festival had just passed, the old site wasn’t too busy, and there were fewer people than before.

To be safe, Xie Yunshu only prepared enough meals for about eighty to ninety people. She rode the motorcycle while Aunt Zhao and Li Fenlan each followed behind on bicycles.

When they passed by the street opposite the construction site, they happened to meet Aunt Li and Chunxing mother and daughter riding a tricycle.

That day, Aunt Li was full of confidence — she made 50% more food than yesterday! She was determined to drive Xie Yunshu away; from then on, only she would be allowed to sell meals at the site. Just thinking about it, she felt she was about to get rich!

So, not only did she make more food that day, but the quality also took a nosedive. Yesterday she still included some fatty meat, but that day there were only a few pieces of pork skin left, and the vegetables were cooked with no color at all — she didn’t even bother to add soy sauce.

In her words: “It’s just mud legs eating; as long as they’re full, who cares what they pick at!”

When Chunxing came out, she was still thinking about yesterday’s Shen Su Bai: “Mom, do you think we’ll see that handsome guy again? He’s really good-looking and also an official inside!”

Aunt Li immediately saw what her daughter was thinking and smiled: “We’ll be selling meals here every day from now on — no worries about that!”

As they talked, Aunt Li caught sight of Xie Yunshu riding the motorcycle approaching. Her face immediately hurt from yesterday — that little she-devil had slapped her so many times, and the swelling on her face hadn’t gone down yet!

In the ’80s, fighting was a daily occurrence. It was normal for women to fight just like men, and almost no one ever got taken to the police station because of fights. So when Aunt Li got home and the men heard that she’d been beaten by a young girl, they scolded her for being useless — two grown people letting one girl hit them.

Seeing Xie Yunshu still daring to bring food here made Aunt Li anxious: “Stop right there! The leader said yesterday, you’re not allowed to sell boxed meals here!”

Xie Yunshu rode past her on the motorcycle: “Where I sell is none of your business!”

Chunxing jumped down from the tricycle to block Xie Yunshu: “No selling means no selling! That guy said yesterday that only my mother and I can sell meals here!”

Xie Yunshu looked at her impatiently: “Get lost!”

Chunxing stomped her foot: “If you dare hit again tomorrow, I’ll have that guy send you to the police station! He’s on my side, not yours!”

Xie Yunshu was startled by that. She was sure that Shen Su Bai didn’t know these women. Calling him “big brother” yesterday was understandable, but today calling him “older brother”?

Li Fenlan and Aunt Zhao rode their bicycles over, frowning at the scene: “Yunshu, what’s going on?”

Xie Yunshu sighed: “A good dog doesn’t block the road. What kind of good dogs are they?”

Aunt Zhao squinted her eyes, stopped her bike by the side, and picked up Chunxing like she was carrying a chick and threw her aside. Then she smiled at Xie Yunshu: “Good!”

She was much stronger than Xie Yunshu, and Aunt Li and Chunxing were intimidated and dared not move.

“Don’t get cocky. People will still chase you out when the workers come out!” Aunt Li said. She dared not fight — yesterday, Xie Yunshu alone beat her and her daughter so badly they couldn’t fight back. Today, with two more people helping, they were even less of a match.

They hadn’t expected this little she-devil to be so bold as to bring people to fight for turf. Was she really not afraid of being sent to the police station by the leader?

Li Fenlan was soft-tempered and spat at Aunt Li and her daughter from her bike: “Chasing you out might be more likely!”

Wasn’t the “little boss” the leader at the site? How could he possibly chase out Yunshu?

After a brief argument, Xie Yunshu didn’t want to waste time and revved the throttle: “Mom, Aunt Zhao, let’s go in first.”

The three headed into the construction site. The gate guard already knew Xie Yunshu well and smiled as he let them in. He also glanced at Li Fenlan and Aunt Zhao: “These two ladies can come in next time, I recognize them now.”

Outside, Aunt Li finally realized something was wrong: “How did she get in so easily?”

Chunxing bit her lip: “Mom, do you think she’s already selling meals inside?”

“No way! The site is strictly controlled, not just anyone can get in!” Aunt Li said firmly, then viciously guessed: “Look at that fox-like face of hers — she must have bribed the guard to get in! She’ll be kicked out soon enough. We’ll sell our food peacefully and wait for her to be thrown out crying!”

The entire first floor of the project department was quite large, with several big tables arranged in a row, holding more than a dozen tables inside. Tian Hao was inside directing people.

Xie Yunshu instinctively glanced behind Tian Hao but didn’t see Shen Su Bai.

“Around 11:30, the project staff eat first; after 12, it’s the workers,” Tian Hao explained, pointing to the tables. “The space is small now; most workers take their meals and go back to eat.”

Xie Yunshu and Aunt Zhao put down the food and checked the time before asking, “Are you eating here too later?”

Tian Hao laughed: “Of course, I can’t eat out by myself, right?”

“And what about Captain Shen?” Xie Yunshu asked, worried he might misunderstand. She quickly clarified, “Captain Shen has helped me a lot; I brought some extra things for him…”

Knowing Xie Yunshu planned to sell meals at the site today, she thought for a while yesterday and specially bought some beef jerky from the market to give him as a snack.

Tian Hao felt a little unfair: “You’re not cooking special meals just for Brother Shen, are you? Yunshu, we’re all friends here; you can’t favor one and neglect the others.”

Xie Yunshu hurriedly took out a packet of beef jerky: “Manager Tian, you’ve helped me too; this is for you.”

Fortunately, she prepared two packets. At the time, she only thought of thanking Captain Shen, never really thought about Tian Hao, since she didn’t interact with him much — her only impression was that he was naturally friendly.

“Manager Tian, thank you for your care! If it weren’t for you pushing me to come deliver boxed meals to the project department at first, I wouldn’t have been able to get the canteen contract yesterday.” Xie Yunshu spoke sincerely; it was indeed because of Tian Hao she came here.

Tian Hao finally smiled broadly: “You’re loyal too!”

Just then, a distinctly boned hand reached over from behind him. Shen Su Bai placed the packet of beef jerky in his palm, smiling warmly and brightly: “Xie Yunshu truly knows how to be grateful and repay kindness.”
