Chapter 50
Xie Fuyi lowered his eyes, fingers twitched slightly, and replied to Bai Wuluo’s message with a mild and cheerful tone devoid of expression, “Sure, what would you like for dinner? I’ll buy it on my way back.”
“Xie Ge! I took so many photos of you, they look great, no need for editing! When I go back, I’ll show them to my brother and ask him to recommend them to the director!” Ye Yunshan, who had finished organizing her camera nearby, came over to see Xie Fuyi staring at his phone. “Xie Ge, what’s wrong?”
Only then did Xie Fuyi raise his eyes, smile, and say, “My brother is coming back tonight, so I have to go back.”
Ye Yunshan looked at the sky, and nodded, “I’m going home too. See you next time.”
“How are you getting back?” Xie Fuyi asked with concern.
It was only then that Ye Yunshan realized she didn’t have her phone or wallet. She frowned, about to ask to borrow a phone to make a call when Xie Fuyi waved to a nearby taxi, “Let me call a cab for you.”
Xie Fuyi got Ye Yunshan’s address and paid for her fare.
“Thank you!” Ye Yunshan looked gratefully at Xie Fuyi, “Xie Ge, I’ll transfer the money to your WeChat when I get back.”
Xie Fuyi smiled at her words, “No need to thank me, it’s just a small favor.” He waved as he helped her into the car, “Let me know when you get home.”
Ye Yunshan waved back, her expression touched through the window, “Xie Ge! Wait for my good news!”
Xie Fuyi watched as the car drove away, a smirk on his lips, hoping his sister would come through. He would be in trouble if Ye Yunshan found out he had used her, directly leading to his downfall!
—
After the Xie family’s downfall, the young master could only rent an old one-bedroom apartment in a relatively remote area.
The dilapidated buildings were crisscrossed with alleys, impassable for cars. Xie Fuyi got out of the car at the alley’s entrance.
Bai Wuluo’s message mentioned fancy Western food he couldn’t afford. Luckily, he had picked up a boxed meal from a stall at the alley entrance.
This left him penniless.
It was getting late, and light rain started falling. Only a streetlight at the intersection illuminated the alley. Xie Fuyi walked forward in the dim light, the old road creaking under his footsteps.
As he walked alone in the alley, Xie Fuyi sensed something was off. The sound of the floor was strange, and there were people…
“Who’s there?” He suddenly stopped, standing still.
Soon, several dark figures approached slowly ahead, and there were also faint footsteps behind him. He was surrounded from front to back. Xie Fuyi’s expression remained unchanged as he squinted at the unfamiliar man leading them.
“Xie Fuyi! If you don’t pay up today, I’ll leave you with only two legs!” The man’s loud curses mixed with the ear-piercing clatter of metal collisions.
Xie Fuyi felt a momentary blackout before a metallic rod swung toward his head. But he stood still, effortlessly grabbing the wrist and holding the rod.
The man clearly didn’t expect Xie Fuyi, who appeared tall and thin, to be so strong. In the next moment, he seemed to effortlessly push both the rod and the man away.
The man fell to the ground, his organs hurting, his face pale, unable to get up.
The people around were stunned for a moment, hesitating to approach again.
Suddenly, a car horn sounded in the quiet night.
In the dim alley, with the dark sky, only a dim streetlight illuminated the alley entrance. There was a black car parked there, and Xie Fuyi vaguely saw a flicker of light inside.
But before Xie Fuyi could look closely, amidst the hesitation of the group of men, the car horn sounded twice more, as if urging them.
The group of men glanced at each other, gritted their teeth, gathered courage, and shouted, “Let’s go together, brothers! Disable his limbs!”
Then, in the narrow alley, countless tall figures wielding sticks rushed towards Xie Fuyi, and numerous iron rods smashed down toward him.
However, contrary to everyone’s expectations, Xie Fuyi didn’t end up beaten and bruised as they had imagined.
Xie Fuyi, holding a boxed meal in one hand, grabbed the man’s wrist with the other, and effortlessly kicked him far away.
His clothes were soaked by the rain, clinging tightly to his body. His long and powerful thighs moved with fluidity and grace, accentuating the smooth and tight curves of his waist and abdomen muscles.
Xie Fuyi agilely maneuvered, dodging the attacks of his opponents. He raised his hand to knock down one person and seized an iron rod from him. Soon, the sound of metal collisions filled the air, and before long, the group of men lay on the ground. Standing among them, Xie Fuyi’s back was straight. He glanced down at the boxed meal in his hand, relieved that the soup hadn’t spilled out.
Xie Fuyi was precise in his actions. His fighting tools clearly analyzed where to strike, avoiding fatal blows while swiftly incapacitating them.
He was indeed formidable in this world!
The man who had fallen to the ground earlier groaned in pain as he cursed, “Xie Fuyi, don’t think you can get away just because you can fight! No one dares to owe our boss money and not pay up!”
It turned out they were here to collect a debt, but Xie Fuyi was currently penniless.
He slowly approached the man, who shrank back against the ground.
Xie Fuyi sighed and spoke gently with some remorse, “I’ll repay the money, just give me some time.”
The man, seeing the gentle and remorseful expression on Xie Fuyi’s face, felt somewhat uneasy. How could someone with such a kind and apologetic expression have beaten them up so badly?
He gritted his teeth, “Time? How much more time do you need? It’s been half a year, what do you plan to use to repay? Just the two hundred bucks you earn from being an extra every day?”
Naturally, he had to repay the money… but “he” had no money.
“I’ll find a way to repay it,” Xie Fuyi said with some frustration as he stood up stiffly, wanting to leave after saying so dryly.
Just then—
“Don’t move.” A hoarse and casual male voice rang out leisurely at this moment, “You’re quite a fighter, I wonder who’s faster, you or me.”
In the quiet alley, the nonchalant voice stood out. Xie Fuyi slowly turned around to see a tall man in black clothes and a black hat holding a gun aimed at him.
The man’s hat had a low brim, and in the dim night, his face was not visible. Someone stood behind him, holding an umbrella, and the sound of leather shoes tapping the ground approached gradually.
Sparks flickered between his fingers, accompanied by a puff of smoke near his lips, but it didn’t affect his other hand, which held the gun steadily, as if he had been using it for years.
“Boss, it’s him! Not only did he not repay the money, but he also beat up our people like this!” The man who led them, staggering, crawled to the side of the man in black and leaned against the wall to stand up.
In the blurry halo of light, the man in black scrutinized Xie Fuyi from head to toe. He didn’t seem angry and didn’t take the man’s words to heart, but rather showed interest in Xie Fuyi. “No one has ever dared to owe me money without repaying it.”
“I didn’t intend not to repay the money, I just need some time,” Xie Fuyi explained gently and earnestly.
The man chuckled, “How long is some time? If you don’t repay in ten years, should I wait for you for ten years?”
“One year,” Xie Fuyi thought for a moment, his words calm but earnest, “Give me a year, and I’ll repay all the money. Otherwise, even if you pressure me now, you won’t get a single penny.”
The man looked at his straight back, his eyes calm and resolute.
Taking a deep breath, the man exhaled a puff of white smoke into the silent night, obscuring the expression in his eyes. His deep voice retained a hint of amusement as he said, “You’re quite interesting. How about you join me? I’ll help you repay the money, it’s not impossible…”
