Chapter 52: Solving the Problem

“The door is opening! Stay alert!”

As the order came through her earpiece, Jiang Chaoyun tightened her grip on her pistol and aimed at the entrance of Good Flavor.

Yet to her surprise, the one who walked out was not the suspect but a rather good-looking girl.

The girl held a suitcase in one hand, supported an unconscious boy with the other, and looked completely harmless.

Huh, isn’t this the girl who hip-threw her own mother yesterday?

Jiang Chaoyun recognized Chu Zining at a glance, for yesterday’s incident had left an indelible impression on her.

“The girl is carrying the suitcase with the suspect’s bomb; do not lower your guard!” a stern voice came through the earpiece.

“Hold your fire!” Jiang Chaoyun sent an urgent reply. “She’s not the suspect!”

All the officers raised their weapons and stood ready, but thanks to Jiang Chaoyun’s warning they did not shoot rashly.

The moment Lu Li stepped outside, dozens of guns pointed at him, and he nearly jumped out of his skin.

As a decent man, he certainly did not want guns trained on him.

He quickly set the suitcase to one side, raised one hand, and explained, “Captain, don’t shoot, it’s me! I’m not the bad guy; the bad guys are inside, already taken care of.”

“Can we trust them?” the officers asked gravely.

“I vouch for her!” Jiang Chaoyun declared first. “I know this girl; she isn’t a criminal.”

“So the perpetrators have really been subdued?”

Although the officers had no idea how the criminals had been taken down, the commanders made their decision and issued orderly instructions at once.

“Do not fire! First get the girl and the boy away from that case!”

“Bomb squad, defuse the bomb in that case!”

“SWAT team, enter the restaurant and verify the situation!”

After the flurry of orders, the officers swarmed into action, easily arrested the two unconscious suspects in the restaurant, and safely removed the bomb from the suitcase.

So the criminals really were subdued…

Everyone let out a long breath of relief, yet a huge question mark appeared in their minds at the same time.

Had such a major crisis really ended with more thunder than rain?

When they learned the suspects had a bomb, some of them had even steeled themselves to die protecting civilians.

Yet before they could even act, the suspects had already been taken down!

Who on earth had neutralized the criminals?

Could it be…

They all thought of the girl who had walked out carrying the suitcase.

No way, no way… had those two vicious criminals really been beaten by that frail-looking little girl?

How had she done it!

Policewoman Jiang Chaoyun stepped forward first and conducted a preliminary inquiry with Chu Zining and Lu Li.

“Sis, we meet again.” Lu Li reluctantly tore his gaze from Jiang Chaoyun’s shapely legs in black stockings and greeted her.

Mm, black stockings really are the best in the world; even better up close!

Jiang Chaoyun had no idea that the pretty girl before her was mentally critiquing her outfit.

“Little Chu, what exactly happened in the restaurant?” Jiang Chaoyun asked, utterly puzzled.

Lu Li thought for a moment, then recounted how he and Chu Zining had subdued the criminals together, glossing over the fantastical dating game part with a vague claim that Chu Zining had “seized the moment and struck them down.”

Jiang Chaoyun did not doubt Lu Li’s account; she had seen Chu Zining crush a rapist’s groin and hip-throw her wayward mother yesterday, so she assumed the girl knew martial arts.

She even believed that Chu Zining had done most of the work, while Lu Li had provided only minor support.

After all, Lu Li was currently unconscious and did not look like the main fighter at all.

“Does this student need to go to the hospital for a check-up?” Jiang Chaoyun asked worriedly, looking at the Lu Li supported by “Chu Zining.”

Lu Li shook her head. “He’s fine, just under a witch’s curse; two kisses from me and he’ll wake up.”

“Hm?” Jiang Chaoyun thought she had misheard.

Chu Zining was mortified and whimpered “Eee,” warning Lu Li not to talk nonsense.

Lu Li cleared her throat. “Just kidding, hehe. He’s just a bit hypoglycemic; he’ll come around in a moment.”

“Truly no need for a hospital?” Jiang Chaoyun asked with concern.

Lu Li affirmed, “Relax, he’s fine.”

He knew his own body better than anyone, didn’t he?

If they really sent him to a hospital, who would reimburse all those tests? Touch my body if you must, but don’t touch my wallet!

Just then a SWAT officer barged into the group and growled, “The sniper is in position and ready to fire at any moment! Hey, what are you all doing, why are you packing up to leave, huh?”

Why did everyone look so cozy, as if it were a family outing? Was the situation resolved… resolved peacefully?

The middle-aged officer Lu Li had met glared at the SWAT member. “If we’d relied on your sniper, the daylilies would have wilted!”

“Eh?” The SWAT officer stood there, baffled, scratching the back of his head.

Seeing his stupefied look, everyone burst into laughter.

“Let’s head back, let’s head back, there’s a ton of follow-up work to do.”

The SWAT officer was still dazed. “Really, it’s over?”

“What else?”

The SWAT officer exclaimed again and again, “The suspects had a bomb, yet no one was hurt? Which god took them down? That’s amazing! I’m going to carve him a tablet, put it at home, and pray to it so I can come back unscathed from missions.”

The middle-aged officer tilted his chin toward Chu Zining. “Look, the hero is over there.”

The SWAT officer stared blankly at Jiang Chaoyun beside Chu Zining and nodded. “Chaoyun did it? If it was her, no wonder… she’s always bold and meticulous.”

The middle-aged officer shook his head. “Try again.”

“Guess again? Who else over there… surely not that girl? Don’t kid me, haha,” the SWAT officer scoffed.

The middle-aged officer clicked his tongue.

The SWAT officer froze, and after a long moment let out a loud, uncertain “Ah?”

After a flurry of activity, Lu Li and Chu Zining got into Jiang Chaoyun’s car; they were going back to the station together to give statements.

Jiang Chaoyun sat in the driver’s seat, while Lu Li and Chu Zining occupied the back.

It took Lu Li quite some effort to shove his own body into the car.

The back seat was small, and at 1.83 meters tall Lu Li had to curl himself up, looking rather uncomfortable.

Seeing the second personality handle Lu Li so roughly, Chu Zining felt a twinge of pity. “If you fold his body up like that, he’ll be uncomfortable.”
