Chapter 3
Luo Wan lowered her head to glance at her own number plate.
Thankfully, her position was towards the back, so she wouldn’t need to expend too much energy.
There was another uproar within the venue, and she turned her head to look.
“Is there anyone else daring enough to come up?”
A man on the stage, bare-armed with muscular biceps, waved his hands and shouted at the audience below.
And without hesitation, he kicked the opponent he had just knocked down off the stage. The man, already seriously injured, was sent flying by the kick, lying in the corner gasping for breath.
No one among the crowd watching the spectacle stepped forward to help, and the mocking voices around continued.
“So weak, they’d better stay home and look after their kids.”
“Get up and continue fighting.”
“I’d rather lose my life than lose face.”
…
The man lying on the ground remained motionless, and everyone lost interest in trying to persuade him. Their attention returned to the stage.
At this moment, the host called out for number 7.
No one seemed to be coming up to the stage, so the host continued calling out numbers.
Those who had signed up but lacked the courage to step up were naturally dragged away by a few mercenaries to face the consequences.
“Number ten.”
The host called out several numbers in a row, but no one stepped up.
Luo Wan looked at her number and smirked slightly.
Soon the host called out number thirteen.
Luo Wan tightened the string of her mask and slowly walked onto the stage.
With so many people hesitating to go up, the sudden appearance of a woman drew murmurs of disapproval from the crowd.
“She’s probably going up there to die.”
“This woman must be crazy for money.”
…
The discussions underground were incessant.
Luo Wan just smiled faintly and confidently ascended the stage.
“Little girl, if you need money, just follow grandpa. There’s no need to suffer like this.”
“How can I lay hands on such delicate skin and flesh by calling myself grandpa?”
The man on the stage was named Zhang Shan, the overlord of this place.
Few could defeat him, which only fueled his arrogance.
Sometimes his blows could leave people with broken hands and feet.
Seeing a slender woman with a delicate figure in front of him, he inevitably let his guard down, continuously uttering vulgarities.
Luo Wan exuded a cold aura, her eyes filled with determination.
After the host left the stage, she directly and neatly made her move.
Her movements were as fast as lightning, her hands dexterous and agile, executing a perfect shoulder throw.
Zhang Shan ended up flat on his back.
On the ground.
The robust body fell down, causing the platform to shake a few times.
There was a brief silence in the crowd.
No one had expected this slender and weak woman to have such explosive power.
Before they could even see clearly, she had already thrown down a big guy.
Even Zhang Shan was dumbfounded.
It took him a while to get up, assuming a defensive stance, no longer careless or disdainful towards his opponent.
Luo Wan smirked devilishly.
“I’m going to beat you so badly today, you’ll call me grandma.”
With that, she launched another attack.
Zhang Shan’s previous victories were entirely due to his size and strength, which gave him an absolute advantage.
But now, Luo Wan avoided direct confrontation, relying entirely on skillful maneuvers. Plus, being knowledgeable in medicine, she targeted her opponent’s pressure points, making him occasionally lose strength.
Taking the opportunity to attack his legs, she forced him to kneel.
Zhang Shan could only passively take the hits.
After a few rounds, he was exhausted.
Laughter erupted from the audience below.
Luo Wan didn’t hesitate to step on Zhang Shan’s head, saying with a devilish grin, “Call me grandma.”
How could a man of seven feet be humiliated? Zhang Shan remained silent, gritting his teeth.
Luo Wan directly struck his pressure points with her curved hand.
Zhang Shan’s face contorted in pain. He quickly begged for mercy, “Madam, I was wrong. Spare me, please.”
“Dare you call yourself grandpa again?”
“I won’t, I won’t.”
“Get down by yourself.”
“Yes, yes.”
Struggling to get up, Zhang Shan pretended to descend.
But in a sudden turn, he launched a sneak attack.
As if anticipating it, Luo Wan swiftly lifted her leg and kicked him in the head.
Before Zhang Shan could react, he toppled off the stage, lying in a sorry state on the ground.
Meanwhile, in a concealed room on the second floor of the basement, facing a one-way glass window overlooking the stage, a man sat on a chair, exuding a sinister aura.
His fingers tapped the table intermittently.
“Do you think she could be the one I’m looking for?”
“Sir…”
“Inform the host, I want to meet her.”
“But your health…”
“Hurry.”
Assistant Jiang Lin obeyed and promptly left the room.
In the arena, everyone had witnessed how Zhang Shan was defeated and dared not step up again.
After all, these people didn’t even dare to challenge Zhang Shan.
However,
Luo Wan raised an eyebrow.
She hadn’t expected these people to be so afraid of death.
The host was still calling out numbers when suddenly a man whispered something into the host’s ear.
“Now, we invite the last contestant to the stage. Let’s see whose home the final prize money will go to.”
On the steps, a man slowly ascended.
He was tall and well-built, dressed casually, and also wore a mask on his face.
But the man’s aura was too strong, even standing there exuded a regal demeanor, making people hesitant to approach.
The host politely gestured to the man.
The man nodded to her, his voice deep and magnetic.
“Let’s begin, miss.”
The polite opening made Luo Wan hesitate to act aggressively.
It was the first time she had seen a fight start so politely.
Luo Wan had intended to wait for the man to make the first move so she could counter it.
But after waiting for a while, the man did nothing except stare at her intently.
They couldn’t remain deadlocked like this forever.
Luo Wan made the first move.
The man responded.
However, their fight always carried an air of courtesy.
After several rounds, neither could gain the upper hand.
Luo Wan couldn’t figure out what the man was up to. Although she was eager to win the prize money, she couldn’t bring herself to go all out.
Finally, time was up.
The host came on stage to announce.
“Since both contestants are still standing on the platform at the end of the time, this combat match ends in a tie, and both contestants share the first prize money.”
At these words, Luo Wan’s heart sank instantly.
To share.
Splitting one million five hundred thousand meant only seven hundred and fifty thousand each.
It wasn’t even enough for the cost of that medicinal herb.
While Luo Wan was lamenting, someone beside her spoke through a microphone, “The winner of this round is this young lady.”
“Just now, thanks to this young lady’s mercy.”
Luo Wan turned in surprise.
Her gaze met the man’s.
Luo Wan noticed a mole at the corner of the man’s eye, which looked particularly charming when he smiled at her.
While everyone else was astonished, the man left the stage.
In the end, Luo Wan finally got her hands on the prize money as she wished.
By this time, it was nearly one o’clock.
This place was already in the outskirts, and with fewer vehicles at this hour, Luo Wan had to walk to the main road ahead to catch a ride.
People from the underground venue were also coming out one after another, and ghostly lights whizzed past from the side.
