Chapter 30: Zhong Youliang Cares Deeply for His Wife

“Wife, you’ve really been wronged.” Zhong Youliang came back immediately after training. Hearing what happened, he looked at He Yashu with a face full of concern.

“Dad, they’re so bad. They even scolded Mom.” Little Zhong Ling, using her cute little baby voice, complained.

“You two are enough now. They’ve all been arrested, and they won’t be out anytime soon. You’re getting upset over strangers, and it’s all you,” He Yashu said calmly.

“My wife has the best mindset.” Zhong Youliang smiled simply. He just couldn’t match his wife.

“Mom is awesome.” Little Zhong Ling didn’t fully understand but still praised her mom.

He Yashu helplessly listened to the father and daughter showering compliments.

“Mom, I’m going to play with Brother Cheng now.” Little Zhong Ling, the clever little rascal, ran out as soon as the school bell rang.

“Look at her, your daughter’s such a little troublemaker now. Just one moment of not watching her, and she’s gone,” He Yashu said with mock blame toward Zhong Youliang.

“It’s good that she’s lively, so she won’t be bullied,” Zhong Youliang chuckled.

“How could they be taken away? Making a scene in the family compound isn’t worth it, right?” He Yashu found it strange.

“I heard it was for child kidnapping,” Zhong Youliang said, only knowing what He Yuandong had allowed to be released; he didn’t know the rest.

He Yashu didn’t know what to say. To her, that family was always bullies who picked on the weak and feared the strong. She didn’t expect them to do such a despicable thing. There was really nothing more to say.

“Enough about them. I’m going to cook,” He Yashu said, preparing to get up.

“I’ll do it today.” Zhong Youliang felt sorry for his wife. The Zhang family causing trouble today must have upset her even if she didn’t say so.

“You know how?” He Yashu doubted.

“Wife, you tell me, I’ll cook, okay?” Zhong Youliang was a bit embarrassed; he really didn’t know how to cook. He was good at lighting fires but could only boil plain noodles.

“Okay.” He Yashu didn’t discourage his enthusiasm. After all, no one liked cooking every day.

But once in the kitchen, He Yashu regretted it. Watching Zhong Youliang fumble awkwardly, she held back from kicking him out.

In the end, Zhong Youliang managed to cook three dishes. Seeing his expectant eyes, He Yashu steeled herself and tasted them.

She tasted dish after dish and found the flavors quite good.

“Very good. Looks like I can leave the cooking to you in the future,” He Yashu praised him with a smile.

“Really? Great! From now on, I’ll cook for you and Lingling,” Zhong Youliang beamed.

“Go call your little troublemaker to eat,” He Yashu teased.

“Okay.” Zhong Youliang bent down to kiss He Yashu on the cheek, then happily went to find his precious daughter.

Little Zhong Ling knew dinner was made by her dad. Sweet words to him were like free money, making him smile wide.

The He Family —

“Really our daughter! I knew it, I knew it. I want to find my baby girl,” He Yuandong hadn’t told Zhao Han that He Yashu was their biological daughter; he only shared the investigation results, fearing Zhao Han might get too excited. Sure enough, Zhao Han suddenly stood up, ready to find He Yashu.

“Don’t rush. We don’t know if the child will accept us yet. Today you saw how she treated her foster parents — she’s very determined. I’ll approve her military enlistment application first. Then we can see her every day,” He Yuandong calmly analyzed.

“Yes, yes, you’re right. I’ll ask our baby girl’s opinion tomorrow. As long as she’s still with me, I’m happy. I won’t force her to accept us immediately,” Zhao Han calmed down. It was good to have the child nearby.

Some people die, but don’t completely die…
