Chapter 68
Bai Wuluo quickly adjusted his expression on his face. He stepped forward a few steps, grabbed Xie Fuyi’s clothes, and pulled him aside. “Brother, how did you get up? Be careful, don’t hurt yourself.”
But Xie Fuyi was not diverted by him, still stubbornly looking at him, his voice trembling, “What surveillance? What photos? Who are you calling? And how did you know about the Starry Sky Club?”
“Brother, it’s not what you think. Listen to me explain…” Bai Wuluo’s voice was trembling, he didn’t know why he was panicking, he just knew he couldn’t let the other party know. His brain was spinning rapidly, thinking about how to cover it up.
“Brother, I’m worried about you, so I had someone check your whereabouts, and I also wanted to find out who framed you with that information. Do you think I was too harsh? I can just have them taught a lesson…” The more nervous he was, the more he kept talking.
But Xie Fuyi’s expression told him that the other party didn’t believe him at all.
“What’s your relationship with… that person?” Xie Fuyi’s dark eyes stared at him closely, his teeth clenched.
Bai Wuluo’s lips twitched, causing a smile to appear on his face. “What person? Brother, what are you talking about? Why can’t I understand? You must be tired, go back to sleep for a while.”
As he spoke, he reached out to support Xie Fuyi, “Let go!”
Xie Fuyi suddenly waved his hand away, and Bai Wuluo’s phone fell to the ground, the lit background revealing a photo of Xie Fuyi from that night.
The air suddenly quieted down.
The silence around was dreadful.
Bai Wuluo felt like his breath was about to stop—why on earth did his brain malfunction to use this photo as the background?
Xie Fuyi clenched his fists, his face pale and bloodless, murmuring, “So, the so-called creditor is you… No wonder you always insisted on keeping the lights off.”
The photo that was originally taken under duress by the creditor was actually in the hands of his dear little brother.
Xie Fuyi’s eyes reddened, a mocking laugh escaped his lips, “I never knew you hated me so much. Hated me enough to resort to such methods to insult me.”
Thinking of those humiliations, Xie Fuyi staggered, trembling as he leaned on the table to steady himself.
“Brother! It’s not like that…” Bai Wuluo hurriedly tried to explain, reaching out to help him, only to be forcefully pushed away by Xie Fuyi.
“Don’t touch me!” The words were filled with unmistakable coldness and disgust.
Bai Wuluo stood stiffly in place.
Even though his original intention was to cause unbearable pain to the other party, now seeing Xie Fuyi’s pale complexion and the icy look in his black eyes, he suddenly felt both uncomfortable and afraid.
Xie Fuyi’s voice trembled with coldness. “Do you find it amusing to toy with me? Pretending to be the creditor, tormenting and humiliating me, and then pretending to be a good little brother, watching me suffer?”
“I…” Bai Wuluo’s voice was dry, unable to articulate his thoughts. That was indeed his original plan. Just because the other party was from the Xie family, he wanted to torment him. But at some point, he had already changed his mind.
“Brother, I don’t care if you’re from the Xie family anymore. I just want you to always be by my side…” He grew more and more agitated as he spoke, stepping forward to try to grasp Xie Fuyi’s wrist.
Xie Fuyi took two steps back, raising his hand to ward off Bai Wuluo, his thin lips uttering two words, “Get lost!”
A stifling sensation gripped Bai Wuluo’s chest, a sharp pain shooting straight to the top of his head. He clenched his fists tightly, his voice hoarse with desperation, “Didn’t we agree? To be together forever. Brother, you promised it yourself! Are you going to back out now?”
“Since your words are all lies, why should I trust your promises?” Xie Fuyi’s pale face remained expressionless as he looked at him, “You only disgust me now.”
Bai Wuluo felt his breath catch as if his entire being was being pierced by countless icy needles, causing a deep ache in his lungs.
His eyes were bloodshot, enduring the sharp pain in his heart as if it were bleeding. He sneered and roared, “I disgust you? What about yourself? Did you enjoy yourself with Xiao Yuanshen? How much benefit did you get from selling out to Ye Yunshen?”
“You bastard!”
With a sharp slap, Xie Fuyi, whose brain was blank from the stimulation, directly slapped Bai Wuluo. His fingertips trembled after the strike, his voice hoarse and unrecognizable, “Is this how you see me?”
Clearly, he was the victim, clearly, he was coerced. Even Ye Yunshen used Bai Wuluo to threaten him, and he had to compromise. But what did Bai Wuluo say?
Xie Fuyi’s mind went blank for a moment.
His body was so enraged that he couldn’t stand steadily.
Bai Wuluo’s cheeks burned with pain. If it were any other time, he would have been furious long ago, but now this slap seemed to make him realize what he had said.
His words, spoken without restraint, seemed to be the final straw that overwhelmed Xie Fuyi, causing him, who had been standing strong, to stagger as if he was about to collapse in the next moment.
Bai Wuluo felt a stab in his heart, quickly reaching out to support Xie Fuyi, feeling bewildered and teary-eyed, wanting to apologize, “Brother… I didn’t mean…”
Xie Fuyi seemed to have no strength left even to speak. He struggled to push away Bai Wuluo’s arm and hoarsely said, “Get out, I don’t want to see you anymore.”
Bai Wuluo watched as Xie Fuyi seemed to lose his soul, weakly moving back to his own room step by step.
His back was stiff, standing outside the door all the while.
Bai Wuluo’s expression was filled with anxiety and regret—he was just jealous that the other two men had touched him, but he could force himself not to care. As long as the other was by his side in the future… But now, the other said he never wanted to see him again.
What should he do? What should he do? Brother is angry…
Bai Wuluo forced himself to calm down.
Xie Fuyi was soft-hearted. As long as he said a few more kind words, apologized more, the other should forgive him soon.
Yes, that’s it.
He knew his brother was more responsive to kindness, yet he still said those things to anger him.
He immediately went to make the small cake his brother liked. If Xie Fuyi saw the cake tomorrow morning, he would surely calm down.
Bai Wuluo rushed nervously to the kitchen, making a cake in the middle of the night. But his hands were shaking, unable to measure properly, repeating the process over and over.
…
Ye Yunshen and Xiao Yuansi also didn’t rest the whole night. The two of them swiftly suppressed all the news through thunderous means, and the online world seemed to have returned to calmness.
Indoors, Xie Fuyi didn’t see any news related to himself on his phone anymore. Those two moved quite fast, but what was the use?
This crappy plot! He had had enough!
…
The next day, Bai Wuluo finally finished making a beautiful cake and stood at the door, feeling a bit nervous as he knocked softly and said, “Brother, are you awake? I made your favorite strawberry cake. Do you want to try it?”
There was no response from inside the room.
Bai Wuluo’s heart tightened, his voice hoarse, “Brother, can you give me a chance? I can explain everything you have doubts about from last night.”
Still, there was no sound from inside the room for a long while.
This wasn’t right, it was too quiet.
Bai Wuluo’s heart skipped a beat, a sense of unease mixed with panic causing him to kick open the door directly.
At a glance, he could see that the bed was indeed empty.
“Brother?” His expression was panicked as he looked around the room.
But this bedroom wasn’t big to begin with, and he could see everything at a glance. Except for the bathroom.
The feeling of unease grew stronger as Bai Wuluo stepped forward to push open the bathroom door.
In the bathtub, the cold water surface had already turned red with blood.
The person inside had their eyes tightly shut, their pale face expressionless.
Quiet and still, with no breath left.
“Brother!”
The cake that had been carefully prepared all night fell to the ground, as a heart-wrenching cry tore through the silence of the early morning.
