Chapter 111: A Two-Faced White Fox
Reiner leaned in and examined the tag hanging from her neck.
“Fox-kin demi-human, fluent in Dyast, skilled at fire magic, virgin.”
[Appraisal complete]

Both Spirit and Intelligence were at S rank.
Of all the demi-humans he had appraised, this was the first time he had seen one this smart besides Daisy.
“Heh-heh.” Peggy let out a cute chuckle, showing two sharp little fangs while her fluffy tail swayed gently behind her.
Judging by appearances alone, she looked like a simple, sweet airhead.
Reiner was infected by her smile and the corners of his mouth lifted.
Elyanna poked Reiner’s kidney with her staff and quipped, “Already knocked head over heels?”
“Don’t you think she’s especially pretty?”
“Not as pretty as me.”
“You? You’re just a potato.”
No sooner had he finished than Elyanna beat him violently with her staff.
Just then Peggy’s thoughts drifted over.
(What language is that? Blue hair, pointy ears, looks somewhat like an elf. This guy looks rich; he picked so many demi-humans at once, and his manners are refined, so he might make a good stepping-stone; with a little manipulation I might be able to use him…)
“Huh?”
Reiner paused; apparently this girl was no fool.
Yet no matter how clever she was, her schemes were useless against Reiner, who could eavesdrop on thoughts.
Peggy spoke first in Dyast, her tone a bit fawning: “Will you be my master? I really like you… I want to go home with you! Buy me, please.”
(Just a human; I’ll have him wrapped around my finger in no time!)
Reiner narrowed his eyes and gave a wicked grin.
At that moment the slaver walked over, raised three fingers, and said with a sly smile, “This demi-human slave is top-grade, at least 30 gold coins, my lord; if you know demi-humans, then you must have heard of fox-kin. They are born seductresses who know how to please men; buy one and you will never regret it.”
Before he even finished, Peggy’s inner voice rang out: (Damn slaver! Please men? Once I break this pact mark, the first thing I’ll do is come back and kill you!)
She wagged her tail and said with an unperturbed face, “Master, buy me and take me home! I can do so many, many things for you!”
The corners of Reiner’s mouth lifted slightly.
This girl really had two faces, and that was rather interesting.
He decided to spare Martina for the moment and focus on taming this sly fox first.
The slaver leaned closer and muttered, “Lord Reiner, if you want to purchase her, I’m obliged to warn you that she’s extremely crafty; don’t believe a word she says.”
Peggy covered her mouth and giggled, “I have no hidden motives; I’m completely sincere.”
(You’re dead!)
The slaver continued, “In the forest she ran rings around us all by herself; I had 50 demi-human guards and she lured half of them to their deaths. If we hadn’t used her little sister as bait, we probably couldn’t have caught her.”
(Vile humans! They’ll stop at nothing! Such disgusting people must be killed!)
Anyone who could kill her own kind without hesitation was certainly ruthless.
Speaking in the demi-human tongue, Reiner said, “To slaughter your kin so decisively… you’re even more cold-blooded than this slaver.”
Peggy froze; she obviously hadn’t expected Reiner to speak the demi-human language.
She answered in the same tongue, “How could I be like that? I’m just a cute little fox.”
(Life under humans is worse than death: exploited by day, used for relief at night; for them, dying is liberation… how could a mere human understand?)
Peggy excelled at hiding herself; murder filled her mind, yet facing Reiner and the slaver she could still wear a gentle, adorable smile.
Given such deep hatred for humans, redemption seemed unlikely; if he wanted to use her, he had to control her through her weakness.
Reiner asked the slaver, “She has a younger sister?”
“Yes, but she escaped later and we haven’t recaptured her.” The slaver nodded.
Reiner smiled knowingly and paid to purchase several beast-eared girls.
He now had a little more than 30 Dyast gold coins left.
“Come with me; I’ll brand your pact marks… especially this fox-kin, she’ll need several layers…”
A barely noticeable smile flashed across Peggy’s face.
(Foolish; I’ve almost cracked this simple thing already… at most a month and I’ll break free.)
“No need; I know a bit about it.” Reiner patted Peggy’s arm and stamped the pact mark onto her.
He set the conditions so she could not defy his will and their lives were linked.
Once home he would imprint Peggy’s subordination contract on everyone else, preventing her from harming anyone.
After Reiner used domination magic, Peggy immediately sensed something was wrong.
She scratched hard at the pact mark on her shoulder, her brow furrowing.
(This pact mark is off… it’s complex and solid; it isn’t the same type that slaver used!)
She looked at Reiner without saying anything, but inside her mind was in turmoil.
(How did he do it? I… I can’t break it…)
Reiner smiled knowingly; it was an elf-improved domination spell that only the caster or an elf could undo.
Whatever she tried would be futile.
Yet no matter how panicked she felt, she still kept a calm face and said, “Master, you’re amazing… you can do everything!”
Reiner narrowed his eyes, the corners of his mouth curling. “Flattery won’t work; come home with me and I’ll give you 100 consecutive pulls right away.”
Peggy replied indifferently.
(Pulls on me? You’re done for! No man in this world can resist my charm; with a small price I can have them dancing in my palm!)
Reiner smiled faintly.
If he didn’t have this thought-eavesdropping cheat, this nasty woman might really have tricked him.
Since she was a born rebel, he definitely had to teach her a lesson or two.
“What’s your name?” Reiner asked.
“Peggy, and you, Master?” Her tail wagged even harder.
“I’m Reiner, and a word of advice: don’t try any tricks on me. You may think you’re smart, but against me…”
Reiner stepped forward, patted her shoulder, and whispered by her ear, “Kid, you’ve got a lot to learn.”
