Chapter 23: Exactly One Week
When Lin Qingyue returned home, she found that dinner was already prepared. Lu Siyi was wearing an apron, looking like a typical house husband.
The three children were sitting at the dinner table, waiting for her return, and started eating together.
Lu Yicheng was listlessly drooping his head, looking dejected. She asked with concern, “Are you feeling unwell? Why do you look so listless?”
“He’s fine,” Lu Siyi said concisely.
Lu Yicheng cautiously glanced at Lu Siyi, immediately nodding: “Dad is right, I’m fine.”
Lin Qingyue looked at him admiringly: “How did you manage to make our little monkey so obedient to you?”
He raised an eyebrow, proudly saying: “I’m more authoritative than you.”
“…”
Well, she didn’t ask anything.
She suddenly found it funny. A person who is usually meticulous, serious, and calm in dealing with people and things, can actually make jokes?
That evening, after Lin Qingyue finished showering and returned to the room, Lu Siyi was sitting by the bed with a passbook, waiting for her.
Lu Siyi looked at Lin Qingyue, who was only wrapped in a bath towel, his eyes darkening.
“Why aren’t you sleeping yet?” Lin Qingyue wiped her hair with a towel and sat down on the bed naturally.
He handed her the passbook, saying: “I heard from Lu Yicheng that your brother asked you to borrow money. This is the family’s passbook; you can use the money as you see fit.”
Lin Qingyue took the passbook, flipped through it, saw the final number, and was instantly shocked, her mouth agape: “So much!”
It was a full thousand yuan.
“It’s my previous salary. I didn’t have any expenses before, so I saved it up bit by bit,” Lu Siyi’s eyes shone with complex emotions, saying: “Qingyue, you don’t have to worry about money. If you need money, just tell me.”
Lin Qingyue didn’t hesitate and directly put the passbook into a box on the bedside table, along with her dowry money.
“Lin Hao did ask me to borrow money, but I don’t intend to lend it to him. He’s using the money to chase women; why should I let him squander it?” Lin Qingyue blinked. Her eyes were bright, like a night sky full of stars. If you looked closely, you could discover the depth hidden in those beautiful eyes.
“By the way, when does your unit have a holiday? I want to go back and see my parents, and you should come along too, and bring the three children.” She had been married for so long, it was time to visit her parents’ home.
In the original story, Lin Qingyue’s parents had always been good to her, but she didn’t know how to be grateful and hurt their feelings.
Now, she wanted to make up for the original owner’s mistakes and cling tightly to her parents.
“This Saturday, the children will also have a holiday.” Lu Siyi thought of Lu Yicheng and Lin Qingyue’s antagonistic relationship. If they didn’t know how to behave in front of his father-in-law and mother-in-law, their first official meeting would lower his impression in their hearts.
“Let’s let the children go back to Grandpa’s house; he misses them.” He tentatively asked Lin Qingyue’s opinion.
Lin Qingyue thought for a moment. She was going to deal with Lin Hao’s matter this time, and bringing the children would indeed be inconvenient.
“There will be many opportunities in the future. I’ll bring the children back to see my parents later.” Her hands kept moving, her hair already half-dry.
Her shoulder-length black hair fell to her collarbone, giving her a fresh and refined look.
“Okay, that’s settled then.” Lin Qingyue shook her hair, put the towel aside. Her skin was slightly pink, and her body was still damp, her fair skin smooth like glazed porcelain, warm and supple.
Lu Siyi’s eyes moved slightly, his suppressed desire released, his voice low and husky: “Qingyue, it’s been exactly one week…”
There seemed to be an agreement between her and Lu Siyi.
Lin Qingyue blushed instantly, struggling to get up, but Lu Siyi pulled her down, tearing off her bath towel. She was heartbroken, making it convenient for him.
On Saturday, Lu Siyi drove the children to their grandfather’s house first, then took Lin Hao back to the Lin family home.
Lin Qingyue had informed her parents beforehand. When they arrived, it was just dinner time.
A table full of dishes, with various flavors, it was like a New Year’s feast.
Lin’s father held a wine glass, with a kind smile on his face, saying: “Xiao Lu, this is your first time officially visiting our home. I don’t know what you like to eat, so I made a little of every kind of dish. Please try them.”
“Father-in-law, you’re too kind.” Lu Siyi held up his wine glass with both hands, showing a respectful and courteous attitude.
Lin’s father and mother were very satisfied with Lu Siyi.
He was promising, handsome, and most importantly, since their daughter married him, she had changed a lot, for the better.
Lin’s father, the more he looked at his son-in-law, the more satisfied he became.
Lin’s mother also chuckled: “Don’t be polite, just treat it like your own home.”
“Mom and Dad, what are you saying? He’s my husband, isn’t this his second home?” Lin Qingyue said calmly.
“You child, you still know how to protect your husband, picking on your dad?” Lin’s father joked.
Lin Qingyue playfully stuck out her tongue at him: “Dad, a married daughter is like water spilled out, you have to accept reality.”
“You little rascal!” Lin’s father scolded lovingly.
Lu Siyi slightly curled his lips, revealing a faint smile.
“Who is really your son? You like your son-in-law more than your own son?” During the meal, no one paid attention to Lin Hao, and he complained unhappily.
Lin’s father put down his chopsticks heavily, angrily saying: “Where have you been messing around these days? If your sister hadn’t called you back, we wouldn’t have seen you!”
“I’m not doing something with someone else outside.” Lin Hao mumbled softly, looking at Lin’s mother for help: “Mom, quickly tell Dad off.”
“I can’t control this, it’s only natural for a father to discipline his son.” Lin’s mother said indifferently.
“What kind of decent thing can you do?” Lin’s father sighed: “Your mother and I no longer expect you to succeed and bring glory to the Lin family. We just ask that you don’t cause trouble for us outside.”
“Fine! Even if I cause trouble outside, I absolutely won’t involve the family!” Lin Hao threw down his chopsticks and went upstairs.
“I’m full, you guys eat!”
Lin’s father’s face was livid: “Son-in-law, this is your first visit, I apologize for this.”
Lu Siyi shook his head, indicating it was fine.
“Dad, we’re family, why are you so polite?” Lin Qingyue helped him out.
The originally harmonious atmosphere was broken, and the surrounding air became almost freezing.
After finally finishing the meal, Lu Siyi got up, ready to help Lin’s mother clean up, but was stopped by Lin’s father: “Xiao Lu, do you play chess?”
“Yes.”
“Perfect, let’s go to the study and have a good game. Leave the dishes to your mother-in-law and Qingyue.” Lin’s father didn’t hide his fondness for Lu Siyi.
