Gu Yundong was taken aback. As soon as she opened the door, a small figure rushed in like a cannonball.

“Yunshu, Yunshu, I’m here!”

Gu Yundong took a closer look. Wasn’t this Chen Liang’s grandson, Niudan?

Niudan rushed in but didn’t see anyone. He turned around and ran back. “Sister Yundong, where’s Yunshu?”

“He went next door.”

“Then I’ll go find him.” Niudan said and ran off, but stopped abruptly at the doorstep.

As if remembering something, he turned back slowly and asked cautiously, “Next door… is it the home of that wolf cub?”

Gu Yundong believed that education should start from childhood, especially since this child was close to her younger brother. So she corrected him, saying, “His name is Shao Qingyuan, not a wolf cub. Niudan, you can call him Brother Shao or Shao Qingyuan.”

“But…” Everyone calls him that.

“Ah Shu calls him Big Brother Shao.”

Niudan immediately changed his words. “Then I’ll call him Big Brother Shao too.”

“Good boy.”

“Um, is next door Big Brother Shao’s house? I, I’m afraid to go.” Niudan said, sounding a bit pitiful.

Gu Yundong shrugged. “Ah Shu will be back soon.”

“Then I’ll wait for him at home.” Niudan turned back but headed straight for the kitchen. He had just smelled something delicious coming from there and didn’t know what it was.

To his surprise, as soon as he entered the kitchen, he saw a small figure holding a spoon and leaning on the table, staring fixedly at the plate of meat in the middle, sniffing desperately.

Niudan also sniffed hard, and his mouth almost watered when he saw the dishes on the table.

When Gu Yushu came back after delivering the dishes, he heard from his sister that Niudan was looking for him and was in the kitchen.

He hurried in with Zeng Le, but as soon as he entered, he saw two little heads leaning on the edge of the table, deeply inhaling with intoxicated expressions.

Gu Yushu’s mouth twitched. He walked up to Niudan and asked, “What do you need me for, Niudan?”

Niudan didn’t answer, lost in the delicious smell. Compared to this, he felt like his mom’s cooking was just grass.

Gu Yushu simply pulled him down from the chair. “Niudan, what did you come here for?”

“To eat braised pork.” Niudan answered instinctively.

Gu Yushu exclaimed, “Huh?” Niudan suddenly realized and wiped away the saliva that almost dripped out, hastily saying, “I… I came to tell you that I was praised by the teacher today.”

“Praised for what?”

Niudan smirked, “I recognized all the characters the teacher taught today, the ones you taught me a couple of days ago. The teacher said I’m particularly smart and talented. So, I didn’t even go home, I came straight to find you.”

In fact, Chen Liang also taught him characters before sending him to school, but Niudan couldn’t remember them. It wasn’t until he played with Gu Yushu a couple of days ago and talked about going to school that he started to recognize a few characters.

Surprisingly, the two kids learned together, head to head, and actually learned them.

Gu Yushu was also very happy. “Then you should study hard and not let the teacher down.”

“Yeah, so on such a happy day today, shouldn’t we celebrate with braised pork?”
