Chapter 2: Agreement

Tang Xiaorou looked at Aunt Pang with a puzzled expression, then pulled Shen Huaixu over and said, “Wasn’t he the one I was supposed to meet for a blind date? I did as you said, saw him as soon as I came in, and then we had a successful blind date and even got our marriage certificate.”

“What…?”

Aunt Pang looked at Tang Xiaorou in disbelief, then at Shen Huaixu, slapped her thigh and exclaimed, “Oh dear… I’m so sorry, I made a mistake, your blind date wasn’t him at all.”

At this moment, a young man with a sullen expression emerged from behind Aunt Pang.  He looked at Tang Xiaorou and Aunt Pang with a gloomy face and said, “If you didn’t want to go on a blind date, you could have just said so. There’s no need to resort to such tricks.”

Aunt Pang quickly explained, “No, we didn’t, we really came for a blind date.  Erya mistook the person, it wasn’t intentional.”

Tang Xiaorou looked at the gloomy young man in front of her and couldn’t help but twitch her mouth.  The blunder of mistaking someone on a blind date and getting married happened to her. But it wasn’t her fault.

Aunt Pang had praised the man to high heaven, saying he was tall and exceptionally handsome. But the man in front of her was at most 1.72 meters tall, and his looks were far from handsome; he was just passable at best.  So, of course, she mistook the truly tall and handsome Shen Huaixu for her blind date.

“Comrade, I’m really sorry, I didn’t expect such a misunderstanding to happen, we…”

Before Tang Xiaorou could finish speaking, the gloomy young man interrupted, “You don’t need to say any more. The more you explain, the more it seems like you’re covering something up. Even if my circumstances are special, I wouldn’t choose a woman like you.” He turned and left without looking back.

“Oh dear, comrade, wait…”

Aunt Pang hurried after him, wanting to explain properly.

Tang Xiaorou rubbed her temples with a headache and turned to Shen Huaixu, saying, “I’m sorry, it turns out I mistook the blind date. So… is our engagement still on?”

Shen Huaixu had also figured out the situation and understood that Tang Xiaorou wasn’t his comrade’s sister.

It seemed that the woman who was supposed to have a blind date with him hadn’t even come. What’s more, he himself was partly at fault, and he didn’t like trouble.

“Our engagement is definitely still on. Everything I said before still stands, as long as you keep your promise.”

Hearing this, Tang Xiaorou’s eyes lit up, and she nodded eagerly, “I will, of course, I will.”

With such a handsome fake-marriage husband, who needed a gloomy blind date? “Then, shall we go eat?” She was hungry after walking so far. She just wanted to finish eating quickly and go back; she was a little worried about Qin Xueqiong.

Shen Huaixu nodded naturally, “Yes, let’s eat.”

When the two of them had gotten their food and sat down, Aunt Pang came over dejectedly.

Tang Xiaorou quickly waved to Aunt Pang, “Aunt Pang, let’s eat.”

Hearing this, Aunt Pang suddenly looked up, “Erya, how can you still have the appetite to eat? That man left you and ran away; he’ll never go on a blind date with you again.”

Tang Xiaorou pointed at Shen Huaixu and said, “Aunt Pang, I’m already married, why would I need a blind date? Let me formally introduce you to my new husband, Shen Huaixu.”

“This… Didn’t you make a mistake? You really got married?”

“Of course, we’ve already gotten our marriage certificate. Are we supposed to get a divorce?”

Seeing Tang Xiaorou speaking without any hesitation, Aunt Pang quickly covered her mouth, “Baaahh… No divorce, once you’re married, there’s no divorce.” She hadn’t reacted in time; Erya had already gotten her marriage certificate, so there was no need for a blind date. “It’s his problem; knowing he had a blind date, he was still late.”

“Exactly, so let’s eat quickly.”

Tang Xiaorou invited Aunt Pang to eat.  Aunt Pang was a little embarrassed at first, but after eating the braised pork and steamed fish, she couldn’t stop.

Tang Xiaorou also ate two bowls of rice before putting down her chopsticks.  Finally, she looked at Shen Huaixu a little embarrassedly and said, “We seem to have eaten a bit too much.”

Shen Huaixu shook his head and asked for Tang Xiaorou’s home address. “I’ll buy the ‘Three Turns and One Ring’ and send it to you directly.”

Before Tang Xiaorou could speak, Aunt Pang exclaimed, “Three Turns and One Ring? You’re going to buy ‘Three Turns and One Ring’ for Erya?”  She was a little envious of Tang Xiaorou’s luck. She casually met someone, got married, and ended up with someone so well-off.

But Tang Xiaorou shook her head and said, “My family situation is a bit complicated, so you don’t need to send it over.”

Shen Huaixu frowned slightly and asked another question, “Will your family situation affect your ability to take care of the children?”

“No.”

Seeing Tang Xiaorou’s decisive answer, Shen Huaixu felt relieved.

Aunt Pang looked at Shen Huaixu again, not understanding what he meant by “children,” but thinking that they had officially gotten their marriage certificate, there was no point in asking more questions, so she didn’t speak.

At this time, Tang Xiaorou also realized that since Shen Huaixu wasn’t the previous blind date, his health must be fine.

Thinking of this, her face darkened. After Aunt Pang left, Tang Xiaorou directly asked, “Shen Huaixu, everything you said before still counts, right? Besides taking care of the children, I don’t have to fulfill any other marital obligations, right?”

Shen Huaixu didn’t understand Tang Xiaorou’s meaning at first, but after realizing it, his ears turned slightly red, but his expression remained calm. He shook his head and said, “Of course not.”

“That’s good.”

Tang Xiaorou felt relieved.

Shen Huaixu took out a cloth bag and handed it over, saying, “This is the money and tickets I was going to use to buy the ‘Three Turns and One Ring’. Since your family situation is complicated, I won’t buy them, but I’ll definitely get you something.  You can buy whatever you want when you have the chance.”

Tang Xiaorou took the cloth bag, opened it, saw the money and tickets inside, and felt like she had struck gold. Having a husband who didn’t require anything but still gave her money seemed pretty good.  Therefore, she responsibly asked about the children.

“Where are the two children you adopted now?”

“They’re in the army now, but I’ll be going on a mission soon, so you’d better come with me to the army as soon as possible.”

Hearing this, Tang Xiaorou frowned, “Go to the army?” Only then did she realize her new husband was a soldier. “But I haven’t dealt with my family matters yet, so I might not be able to go to the army so soon.”  She then asked Shen Huaixu for his army’s address.

“In Jiangsu Province.”

“That’s pretty close.” Tang Xiaorou thought for a moment and asked, “Can you send the two children over? I can buy a small courtyard in town and take good care of them.”

Shen Huaixu was a little uneasy. In the army’s family housing, there were other aunts and sisters-in-law to help, but here, Tang Xiaorou would be alone with two children, and if anything happened, he wouldn’t be able to come back.

Seeing Shen Huaixu hesitating, Tang Xiaorou asked, “How long will this mission take?”

“A month at the fastest, maybe three months at the slowest.”

Hearing this, Tang Xiaorou made a decision. “Then send the children over first. I’ll take care of them here. By the time you finish your mission, I should be able to handle my family matters. Then I’ll take the two children to you.”

“Okay, that’s settled then.”
