Chapter 6: Persuasion

Tang Jianshe didn’t take Tang Xiaorou’s words to heart.

“Heh… You’re dreaming. I’ll never get a divorce.”

Tang Xiaorou coldly glanced at Tang Jianshe and didn’t speak again. Instead, she turned to Shen Huaixu and said, “Go back to the guesthouse. I’ll find you in town tomorrow.”

Hearing this, Shen Huaixu frowned.

“Are you and your mother staying here?”

Seeing Shen Huaixu’s expression, Tang Xiaorou knew he was worried, so she smiled and said, “Don’t worry, my mother and I will never work like oxen and horses for the Tang family again. We’ll make Tang Jianshe divorce honestly.”  Her eyes were resolute.

For some reason, seeing Tang Xiaorou’s determined expression, Shen Huaixu subconsciously believed her. “Okay.” Then he looked at Qin Xueqiong and said, “Mom, I’ll go back first.”

Hearing Shen Huaixu’s address to her, Qin Xueqiong’s face was full of smiles. “Alright, be careful on your way.”

After Shen Huaixu left, Tang Xiaorou pulled Qin Xueqiong towards the second son’s house.

“Stop…”

Grandma Tang saw the mother and daughter walking home as if nothing had happened and was furious. “You two are really rebelling! You…”

Before Grandma Tang could finish speaking, she was stopped by Grandpa Tang. “Stop it! Let them go back to rest.”

Hearing this, Tang Xiaorou looked at Grandpa Tang again, then went back to her room with her mother.

Seeing them leave, Grandma Tang said, “Why did you stop me? Qin Xueqiong and Tang Xiaorou are going to turn the world upside down.”

“Didn’t you see that Erya really wants Jianshe and Qin Xueqiong to divorce?”

“She… she dares…”

Soon, Grandma Tang’s voice softened. She realized that Tang Xiaorou was serious. Although Qin Xueqiong was weak, her daughter was the most important thing to her.  There was a chance they would really get a divorce.

Thinking of this, she quickly looked at her youngest son and asked, “Jianshe, what do we do now?”

Tang Jianshe was still in pain. Thinking of Tang Xiaorou’s unruly behavior, he said angrily, “Hmph… This divorce definitely won’t happen.  They want to leave our Tang family? No way!”

Hearing this, Grandma Tang felt relieved. As long as her youngest son strongly disagreed, that stinky girl Tang Xiaorou wouldn’t be able to turn the world upside down. They didn’t take Tang Xiaorou’s words to heart.

Tang Xiangdong was unhappy.

“Grandma, Tang Xiaorou, that shameless girl, got married.  The 200 yuan betrothal gift from Yang Erzhu is gone. How will I get money to marry a wife?”

Li Cuilan followed, “Yes, Mother, without money, Xiangdong won’t be able to marry a wife.”

Grandma Tang was reluctant to scold her grandson but was willing to scold her eldest daughter-in-law. “Money, money, money! Why do you always want money? You saw that because of this, that shameless girl Tang Xiaorou dared to instigate Jianshe to divorce.”

Li Cuilan opened her mouth but didn’t say anything more.

Tang Rufang stared at Tang Xiaorou’s departing back, her emotions fluctuating. She didn’t understand why Tang Xiaorou’s personality had changed so much after getting married.

Now she dared to disobey Grandma.  Tang Xiaorou even wanted her to marry Yang Erzhu.

She could foresee that it would be even harder to deal with Tang Xiaorou in the future.

On the other hand, after Tang Xiaorou and Qin Xueqiong returned to the room, Tang Xiaorou brought in everything Shen Huaixu had bought.

Qin Xueqiong finally had a chance to talk to her daughter privately. She quickly pulled her daughter to sit down and looked at the back of her head. “Xiaorou, are you really okay with your injury?”

“Don’t worry, Mom, I’m really fine.  Look, I’m perfectly fine.  You’re the one who’s hurt; look at all these injuries.”

However, Qin Xueqiong didn’t care. “Mom’s fine; these are just superficial wounds.”

Hearing this, Tang Xiaorou looked directly at Qin Xueqiong and asked, “Mom, what I said just now was serious. I hope you can divorce Tang Jianshe.”

Seeing that her daughter didn’t even call him “Dad,” Qin Xueqiong knew that the Yang Erzhu incident had completely chilled her daughter’s heart. “Xiaorou, I don’t want to drag you down.

Although Xiao Shen supports my divorce, that’s because you just got married. What about after a while or a few years? Will he still be like this?”

“Mom, even after a few years, if Shen Huaixu isn’t like this, I’ll still be able to take good care of you.”

Seeing her daughter’s confident expression, Qin Xueqiong’s eyes turned red. Her daughter didn’t want her to worry; she was very moved. But she really didn’t want to be a burden to her daughter. “Xiaorou, I…”

Before Qin Xueqiong could finish speaking, Tang Xiaorou recounted the details of her marriage to Shen Huaixu, finally saying softly, “Mom, what if the Tang family finds out about this and uses it to force me to divorce and try to sell me off?

Would you really watch them torment me like that?” If the Tang family knew she and Shen Huaixu hadn’t consummated their marriage, they might really do something like that.

“Wh… what…”

Qin Xueqiong looked at her daughter in disbelief, her mind buzzing.  So Shen Huaixu and her daughter got married like this one to escape marrying Yang Erzhu, the other to find someone to take care of the children.  “This… how could this be?”

Seeing Qin Xueqiong’s stunned expression, Tang Xiaorou grabbed her hand and asked, “Mom, I’ll ask you one question. Are you willing to watch the Tang family ruin the rest of my life?”

“No, of course not.”

Hearing her daughter’s words, Qin Xueqiong’s eyes gradually became firm. She had even stolen the household registration book to prevent her daughter from marrying Yang Erzhu.

How could she watch her daughter fall into the trap of being sold again?

Seeing her mother’s reaction, Tang Xiaorou continued, “Mom, if that’s the case, why can’t you divorce Tang Jianshe? Don’t worry, we’ll only live better after leaving the Tang family.” In the end, she held her mother’s hand tightly.

Seeing her daughter’s earnest gaze, Qin Xueqiong subconsciously nodded, “Okay.”

Seeing her mother agree, Tang Xiaorou couldn’t help but laugh, “Mom, believe me, we’ll only get better and better after leaving the Tang family. And I won’t be taking care of the children; I need your help so I can relax a little.”

Qin Xueqiong was surprised by her own words, but when her daughter mentioned the children, she advised earnestly, “Xiaorou, although you and Xiao Shen got married hastily, you did get your marriage certificate. So you should live a proper life with him.”

She had a good impression of Shen Huaixu, so even though their marriage was an accident, she truly hoped that her daughter and Shen Huaixu would have a good outcome.
