Chapter 109: Original Songs are Supreme! First Place is Destined for Me! (Part 3/3)
“Tang Feng, keep your voice down! If others hear you, it could negatively affect you,” Su Xiaoli instinctively glanced around.
“Many are probably waiting to see me fail. But, I definitely won’t let them get their wish,” Tang Feng stated.
“It’s inevitable. You’re now the campus celebrity, and all eyes are on you. Even a minor flaw on your part will be magnified. So, you need to be cautious in your actions,” Su Xiaoli cautioned.
“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing. Let’s enjoy our university life in the next four years,” Tang Feng said with a smile.
“Let’s go eat!” Tang Feng gathered his manuscripts.
After eating, they strolled around the campus before heading back to their respective dormitories.
Upon entering his dorm, Tang Feng’s phone rang.
It was a call from Professor Lu Tao.
He quickly answered.
“Tang Feng, tomorrow morning at eight, in the school office building’s conference room, several media outlets want to interview you,” Lu Tao stated his purpose.
“Professor Lu, can I bring my roommates along? They also want to be on TV,” Tang Feng negotiated.
“That’s fine! We can arrange for the reporters to interview them about their impressions of you,” Lu Tao agreed.
“Great. I’ll be there on time tomorrow morning,” Tang Feng assured.
After the call, “What did Professor Lu say?” Su Ming asked, diverting his attention from his computer.
“He agreed to have you guys participate. Reporters will interview you,” Tang Feng replied.
“Really? That’s fantastic! I need to spruce myself up!” Su Ming was visibly excited.
“You can spruce up tomorrow morning,” Tang Feng chuckled.
“Perfect timing for your return! I was browsing the forums, and there are several threads discussing you,” Zhang Hao said.
“Discussing me?” Tang Feng was puzzled.
“Yes!” Zhang Hao nodded, opening the threads he had been browsing.
Tang Feng saw that the discussions were mainly about his participation in the campus singing contest.
Many posts were sarcastic.
Of course, many were fans of Song Lei.
They ridiculed Tang Feng for overestimating himself, thinking he could win first place in the campus singing contest!
It was delusional!
In their eyes, first place belonged to Song Lei!
Other contestants didn’t stand a chance!
“Tang Feng, you must perform well tomorrow night! I’ve already told our classmates, and they’ll all be there to support you,” Zhu Zihang said.
“I know,” Tang Feng nodded, “Let these people gloat for now. After tomorrow night, even if they want to, they probably won’t be able to.”
“Which singer’s song are you planning to sing?” Su Ming asked curiously.
“What do you mean by whose song?” Tang Feng was momentarily confused.
“Which singer’s song are you planning to perform?” Su Ming clarified.
“I plan to sing an original song. Singing someone else’s song just doesn’t feel right to me,” Tang Feng replied.
“An original song? Don’t you think that’s a bit risky?” Zhang Hao was worried.
“I think it’s fine. Regardless, since I’m participating in the campus singing contest, I’m going all out. I believe original songs are the best way to express my sincerity,” Tang Feng said with a slight smile.
“You’re awesome! If you win first place with an original song, record companies will surely approach you to release an album. Then, you can become famous overnight!” Su Ming’s eyes were filled with envy.
“What are you talking about! He’s already a celebrity who has appeared on national TV news and is about to be interviewed again!” Zhang Hao retorted.
“It’s different. He’s currently known as a mathematician, but releasing an album would introduce him as a singer,” Su Ming explained.
“That’s true. Anyway, Tang Feng, you’re a legend in my eyes! No matter what contest you enter, I support you!” Zhang Hao shouted.
“Enough! Let’s all go to bed early tonight! We have an interview in the morning,” Tang Feng suggested.
Everyone went to bed.
The night passed quickly.
After breakfast, Tang Feng took Su Ming and the others to the office building’s conference room.
Wei Tianliang and others were already waiting at the entrance.
After exchanging pleasantries, Tang Feng felt much more at ease than before, dealing smoothly with the familiar reporters.
Su Ming and the others also got their chance to be interviewed.
After the interviews, Wei Tianliang held Tang Feng back.
“Tang Feng, I heard you’re participating in the campus singing contest. Is that true?” Wei Tianliang asked with a smile.
“Yes! The contest is tonight at the sports stadium! If you have time, you’re welcome to listen,” Tang Feng replied.
“I have something I’m not sure if I should say,” Wei Tianliang chuckled.
“Please, go ahead,” Tang Feng urged, knowing Wei Tianliang would say it anyway.
“You’ve solved two world-class math problems, causing a huge stir in the mathematics community. Everyone is eagerly awaiting your solutions to the remaining problems. So, I hope you can focus more on these mathematical challenges. Singing and such aren’t as important for you,” Wei Tianliang advised earnestly.
“Principal Wei, I understand your concern. However, I believe life should be colorful. Constantly focusing on one thing can lead to resentment. I have many hobbies, which I think complement my studies in mathematics. Also, I’m already working on the remaining world-class problems and expect results soon,” Tang Feng said with a smile.
“You do have a point. Turning a hobby into a profession can indeed lead to despair,” Wei Tianliang nodded thoughtfully.
“Is there anything else, Principal Wei?” Tang Feng asked.
“Not at the moment,” Wei Tianliang shook his head.
“Then, we’ll take our leave now! We’ll talk more when there’s time,” Tang Feng waved and left.
Wei Tianliang watched him go, shaking his head in admiration.
