Chapter 106: Achieving Everything Without Much Effort
Jinzi had originally planned to tell the old woman to better manage her reckless grandson, but when he saw the little boy’s face turning red, clutching his throat and struggling to breathe, he was immediately frightened.
The old woman was in tears, visibly panicking. “Mingming, did the dates you just ate get stuck in your throat?”
Yu Guangming couldn’t speak anymore, but his faint awareness still heard what his grandmother said. He could only nod desperately.
The old woman, in a flurry, patted her grandson’s back, then screamed in despair, “Who will come and save my grandson?”
Qiu Yinuo quickly ran over, not even having time to explain. She wrapped her arms around the little boy’s waist, one hand forming a fist and placing the thumb side of the fist on the child’s chest, just above the navel.
With her other hand, she grabbed the fist and pressed forcefully upward against the boy’s abdomen.
The old woman froze for a moment, realizing that Qiu Yinuo was trying to save her grandson.
At first, there were only soft cries, but as Mingming’s discomfort grew, his face turned from red to pale. Fearing Qiu Yinuo wouldn’t be able to save him, she panicked and cried out, “My grandson is struggling! He can’t breathe!”
Qiu Yinuo gave Jinzi a quick glance, and he understood immediately.
He blocked the old woman, saying, “If the object is still stuck in his throat, your grandson could suffocate.”
The word “death” was too horrifying, and it immediately caused the old woman to freeze, too terrified to move.
At that moment, she had no choice but to place her trust in Qiu Yinuo.
After several compressions, a date that had been partially bitten off was forced out.
With the airways cleared, the little boy immediately let out a loud cry.
The old woman, holding her grandson, began crying along with him. The whole scene had been too frightening.
Even those nearby who wanted to help couldn’t approach, as Qiu Yinuo’s method of saving the boy had been so unique.
Qiu Yinuo had used the Heimlich maneuver, a life-saving technique that everyone should learn.
“Old lady, I saw your grandson spit out a half-eaten date. Just to be safe, you should still take him to the hospital for a check-up. We need to make sure the sharp date pit didn’t scratch his throat.”
Seeing that her grandson could cry again, the old woman felt a little less afraid and quickly got up from the ground. “Comrade, thank you so much today. If it weren’t for you, my Mingming might have… might have…”
“It’s nothing, just take the child to the hospital,” Qiu Yinuo interrupted.
“Comrade, may I ask where you’re from?”
Qiu Yinuo pointed to the tractor factory next door. “I’m the technical advisor at the tractor factory.”
After watching the old woman and her grandson leave, Qiu Yinuo called her brother over to the glass bottle factory.
“Let’s go, maybe we can find a good deal today.”
Qiu Qianjin looked at her in disbelief. “Sis, please don’t tell me you learned that from a book too?”
“What else?”
“…” He thought for a long while before finally saying, “I thought you wouldn’t tell that old woman who you were?”
“Are you silly? I’m not the type to do good deeds without expecting anything in return. Did you see what the old woman and her grandson were wearing? Quite refined. They must be from a wealthy family or even have some connections. What if they’re related to some leaders? By handling things well, we might build valuable connections for the future.”
“Sis, don’t you think this is kind of using people?” Jinzi asked.
Qiu Yinuo paused for a moment, realizing it was time to teach her brother an important lesson.
“Maybe it is, but that’s how the world works—either you help me or I help you. As long as you’re genuine and sincere, how can you call it using someone?”
“Of course, I’m not saying that every good deed has to come with a return. We should always act with goodwill and treat others with sincerity. Good things will naturally come our way,” Qiu Yinuo explained.
Jinzi, still slightly skeptical, asked, “Really? But what if it doesn’t come?”
Qiu Yinuo thought for a moment, then replied, “You might want to look for the reason within yourself.”
Jinzi almost choked on his own spit. As expected, his sister was always the one to hit him right in the heart.
The two of them picked a few glass bottles, but still couldn’t gather any information about the glass bottle factory’s manager.
They didn’t even get to meet the manager as they had hoped, and Qiu Yinuo sighed. “Let’s go, it’s getting late. We should head back.”
Neither of them thought much of the rescue earlier, with Qiu Yinuo only entertaining the thought briefly.
She imagined that the man might come with a gift or a banner to show their gratitude.
Who would have thought, during the busy afternoon, that the factory manager would walk in with a chubby man and head straight to the workshop.
As soon as they entered, the manager waved at Qiu Yinuo. “Comrade Xiao Qiu, come over here.”
Qiu Yinuo put down her tools, a confused expression on her face as she walked over. “Manager, is there something you need?”
“Comrade Xiao Qiu, let me introduce you. This is Yu Ling, the manager of the glass bottle factory next door.”
Qiu Yinuo couldn’t help but widen her eyes. Sometimes, when you least expect it, things fall into place effortlessly.
She hadn’t imagined that she would meet the neighboring factory manager in such an unexpected situation. “Manager Yu, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve heard so much about you, but I never had the chance to meet you in person.”
The manager laughed. “Comrade Xiao Qiu, Manager Yu came here specifically to thank you.”
“Ah?”
“I’m here to express my gratitude,” Manager Yu said, noticing that Qiu Yinuo still didn’t seem to recognize him. “Do you remember the little boy you saved at noon today?”
“Don’t tell me he’s your son.”
“As a matter of fact, he is.”
Qiu Yinuo couldn’t help but marvel at her good fortune.
Looking at Manager Yu now, she felt as though the words ‘God of Wealth’ could almost be written across his face.
“I heard from the security guard that Comrade Xiao Qiu has been looking for me lately?”
Qiu Yinuo paused for a moment and instinctively asked, “Do you really think what happened today was just a coincidence?”
Manager Yu immediately understood her concern and laughed heartily. “Of course, I believe it. Can you really plan for my son to get choked like that?”
Qiu Yinuo was touched.
“Manager Yu, you have a sharp mind. You’re definitely someone who’s destined for great things.”
Such a unique compliment made Manager Yu laugh even harder. “Old Wang, this young comrade in your factory has quite a sense of humor!”
“What’s going on here?” Manager Wang asked.
Qiu Yinuo then explained what had happened at noon. “It’s just a coincidence, purely a coincidence.”
Manager Yu nodded in agreement. “Comrade Xiao Qiu, don’t overthink it. My son is always a little careless. He tends to jump around with food in his mouth, no matter how many times I tell him to stop. Today’s incident will certainly teach him a lesson.”
“I’ve been asking about you ever since I returned from the hospital. I heard you had been looking for me, so I rushed over without having time to prepare any gift. If there’s anything you need, just let me know. You saved my son’s life. As long as it’s not an unreasonable request, I’ll definitely help you as best I can.”
Qiu Yinuo felt tears welling up in her eyes. In her heart, she silently awarded Manager Yu the title of “Great Person.”
Since he was so straightforward, it would be a bit pretentious of her to be indirect.
She immediately got to the point and mentioned that their village was planning to open a canned food factory in collaboration with a neighboring village. “For the containers to store the peach preserves, we immediately thought of glass jars. Your factory is the only glass bottle manufacturer in the entire county, so our village, Ping’an, and Taolin village want to cooperate with your factory.”
