In the piano building.
Room B401.
Qin Ling stared coldly at the clock on the wall.
“Five… four… three… two… one.”
Qin Ling counted down in a low voice.
“Late again!”
Her beautifully shaped eyebrows knitted together.
Jiang Yichen!
Was this little brat trying to challenge her authority as a teacher?
Putting down the folder in her hand, Qin Ling took out her phone from her briefcase. Usually, she set her phone to Do Not Disturb mode half an hour before class.
When she turned on the screen, she saw several WeChat messages from Jiang Yichen.
[Jiang Yichen: Missed call]
[Jiang Yichen: Missed call]
[Jiang Yichen: Missed call]
[Jiang Yichen: It’s over, Professor Qin, I think I’m about to see my great-grandmother.]
Qin Ling read the messages on her screen, her expression darkening. She immediately called Jiang Yichen back.
Beep, beep, beep…
After a series of busy signals, no one picked up.
Qin Ling tried again.
Still no answer.
Putting her phone down, she pulled out the attendance sheet from her briefcase and found Jiang Yichen’s name.
Current grade: -5 points.
After waiting for another three minutes with no sign of him, she deducted another five points.
Great-grandmother?
He didn’t even bother to ask for leave in advance to visit relatives.
To mention this just ten minutes before class, she had every reason to suspect that Jiang Yichen simply didn’t want to come to class!
While she was fuming, her phone screen lit up with a call from Jiang Yichen.
“Jiang Yichen,” she said, glancing at the wall clock. It was already five minutes into class. “I’ll give you one minute to get to the piano room. I won’t hold it against you this time.”
“I can’t do it, Professor Qin. I feel like my great-grandmother is waving at me…” Jiang Yichen’s weak voice came through the phone.
“What do you mean?” Qin Ling said coldly. “You’re telling me last minute that you have to see relatives today?”
“What relatives?!” Jiang Yichen sounded exasperated. “Professor Qin, I mean I’m about to die… I can see my deceased great-grandmother waving at me…”
“……” Qin Ling fell silent.
This generation gap…
“Where are you?” Qin Ling asked.
“In the dorm.”
“Wait there.”
Qin Ling packed her things into her black briefcase and strode out of the piano room, heading towards the boys’ dormitory.
Today, she wanted to see for herself what kind of antics Jiang Yichen was up to. If he dared to fake an illness, she would personally send him to meet his great-grandmother.
“Wait? Wait for what? Professor Qin, you’re actually coming over, right?” Jiang Yichen asked, bewildered.
But all he received in response was the busy signal…
Suddenly realizing the possibility, Jiang Yichen glanced at the mess on the floor and set aside the mop he had been using.
Holding his stomach, he walked to the dormitory balcony.
After a few minutes, he indeed saw a stunning figure appear in his line of sight.
However, that beautiful face was filled with fury.
Jiang Yichen felt a chill run down his spine; thank goodness he hadn’t faked an illness. If Qin Ling had come to find him like this, she would surely send him to meet his great-grandmother!
As he admired Qin Ling’s graceful figure, his phone suddenly rang.
Jiang Yichen shrank his neck and returned to his dorm to answer the call.
“Where is your dorm?” The cold voice on the other end made Jiang Yichen shiver.
“Building 3, Boys’ Dormitory.” Jiang Yichen quickly replied.
“What?”
“Uh, I mean Building 3, Room B206.”
“Wait there.”
“……”
Jiang Yichen hurriedly checked his pale face in the half-length mirror on the balcony.
Feeling he didn’t look pitiful enough, he resolutely pinched his thigh hard.
The sharp pain almost brought tears to his eyes.
Stay strong.
Jiang Yichen returned to his dorm, sitting on a stool, adopting a posture that suggested he was on the verge of collapsing…
In fact, he really did feel like he was about to pass out; he had already been losing fluids.
Moments later, he heard footsteps approaching rapidly.
Was Professor Qin wearing high heels today?
He hadn’t noticed this when he had been secretly observing her from the balcony.
Now that he listened closely, it was undoubtedly the sound of high heels.
Qin Ling looked around at the room numbers.
When she finally reached the door of B206, she found the door slightly ajar.
[In the Boys’ Dormitory, whoever enters will pay.]
Qin Ling glanced at the slogan on the doorframe.
Although there were indeed some generational gaps between her and today’s youth, it didn’t stop her from trying to understand the meaning of this slogan…
Boys’ Dormitory?
Who?
Jiang Yichen?
Thinking about his handsome face, Qin Ling felt there might be some truth to that assumption.
Pushing the door open, Qin Ling was immediately hit by an unpleasant odor.
Then, she saw Jiang Yichen sitting on a stool, his face pale.
On the floor, there were many unsightly stains.
“Jiang Yichen?” Qin Ling softly called out.
She had a bad feeling—was this kid really about to meet his great-grandmother?
“Jiang Yichen?”
Qin Ling called again.
But Jiang Yichen sat quietly on the stool, his eyes tightly shut, his arms hanging limply at his sides.
He looked like he could collapse at any moment.
“Jiang Yichen!”
Qin Ling hurriedly tossed her briefcase onto a nearby desk she didn’t recognize and rushed forward to pat his face. “Hey, hey, hey, Jiang Yichen, wake up! Wake up!”
At that moment, Jiang Yichen finally understood what Zhang Wei meant when he said, “If Professor Qin is going to slap me, I will smell her perfume on her fingertips before her hand lands on my face. Then, when the slap comes, it won’t hurt; it will feel good.”
Strangely enough, he had to admit that it was somewhat pleasant.
“Hey, Jiang Yichen.” Qin Ling continued to shake him. “The teacher is here. Wake up; don’t sleep!”
After saying that, Qin Ling quickly turned around to grab her phone from her briefcase.
At that moment, Jiang Yichen cautiously opened one eye, realizing that Professor Qin was preparing to call an ambulance.
Seeing that the time was right, he groggily opened both eyes and weakly said, “Professor Qin.”
“Jiang Yichen?” Hearing his voice, Qin Ling quickly returned. “I’m here; the teacher is here.”
“I feel terrible.” Jiang Yichen struggled to adjust his sitting posture.
To be honest, the position he had been in was quite uncomfortable.
He felt like he was about to slide off the stool at any moment.
“It’s okay, it’s okay,” Qin Ling said soothingly. “I’ll call an ambulance right away.”
“Cough, cough, cough…”
Jiang Yichen coughed as he listened. He knew his condition well; having encountered it before, it was likely just acute gastroenteritis. A bit of medication and some hot water, along with a good rest, and he would be fine by the next day.
“Professor Qin, no need. I can just go to the school infirmary for some medicine.”
After saying this, Jiang Yichen even stood up and turned around in front of Qin Ling to show that he was really fine.
“Can you still walk?” Qin Ling said, putting her phone away. “Then you can wait downstairs for me. I’ll drive you to the hospital.”
“No, Professor Qin, you have to listen to me; this is just a minor issue. It’s nothing serious.”
“Shut up. If I tell you to wait, then wait. Don’t you realize how you looked just now? You fainted.”
Jiang Yichen: “……” No, Professor Qin, don’t you think there’s a possibility that I was just playing it up for sympathy…
He couldn’t say this out loud; the worried expression on Qin Ling’s face didn’t look like an act.
If she found out he had been faking it, the consequences…
“In three minutes, I want to see you downstairs by the dormitory.”
With that, Qin Ling grabbed her briefcase and left the dormitory.
The sound of her high heels pounding against the floor was even more urgent than when she arrived, indicating that her pace had quickened significantly.
Jiang Yichen opened his mouth to say something, but Qin Ling had already left the dormitory with a fierce determination.
Wait, three minutes?
Was Professor Qin Usain Bolt? Did she think she could make it to the parking lot and back in three minutes?
