Chapter 6: So Bored I Could Fart
“I want to take revenge on the Jiang family. Will that cost me any virtue points?”
“No, but you can’t kill people. Otherwise, the sin will be hard to eliminate. At that time, I’m afraid it will be difficult to explain to the heaven.” Hongli hesitated for a moment, but still said so. It is not easy to cultivate virtue and heart, and to cultivate some merits. If she loses herself because of those scumbags, I’m afraid it will be a bit of a loss.
Jiang Yunhe was relieved. Since the bottom line was not to kill, then she wouldn’t. After all, in a law-governed society, it wasn’t appropriate for her to act personally.
But given how the Jiang family operated, they’d probably dig their own graves.
When that time came, if she gave them a little push, it wouldn’t really count as doing anything wrong.
Hongli was a bit dazed by her fierce gaze, and a bad feeling crept up—just what kind of person had he ended up following? Why did she seem like a full-blown villain?
Jiang Yunhe quickly calmed herself and asked softly, “One more thing—does this space operate on its own, or do I need to manage it somehow?”
Hongli replied, “Mm-hmm, either way is fine. If you don’t do anything, it’ll stay in its primitive state without any changes. But if you manage it, it’ll be totally different.”
In other words, it all depended on Jiang Yunhe.
If she was diligent, she could choose to take care of it.
Jiang Yunhe understood—she was basically the manager here. She could think of herself as a gardener. If she could do something, she might as well do it.
And organizing things? That was her specialty.
In her past life, she’d spent too much time bedridden, so now, being idle just made her feel unwell—she couldn’t sit still and would fall apart from inactivity.
Might as well do something useful!
So, she got right to work.
It also gave her a chance to understand what this space contained. That way, she wouldn’t be caught off guard later, scrambling for something she couldn’t find.
Hongli lounged lazily in the spiritual spring, watching her. Mm-hmm… This new master is actually kind of hardworking. Not bad.
The previous few? Incredibly lazy. They wouldn’t lift a finger to do any of this.
“Master, master! These vegetables and radishes are super nutritious. You can pick and eat them. The fruits are good too. And the spring water—you can use it to irrigate. It won’t cure all diseases, but it’ll definitely strengthen your body.”
“Great, thank you.” Jiang Yunhe sincerely appreciated it. Thinking of whatever stunt Sun Meilin might pull later, she suddenly got an idea—maybe she could eat a bit here first. That would make things easier outside.
The more she thought about it, the better she felt.
Even just having something in her stomach would be an improvement.
After all, given how the Jiang family cooked, there was no way anything decent was coming out of that kitchen.
Jiang Yunhe casually grabbed a cucumber, wiped off the tiny spines, and took a bite. It was sweet and refreshing—tasted amazing.
Hongli stared, drooling. He wanted a bite too!
Seeing the desperate look in his eyes, Jiang Yunhe twitched her lips. “Can you even eat this? Aren’t you supposed to eat fish food?”
“Fish food? What’s that?!”
As far as he could remember, he’d always lived in this place, waiting for a fated person to arrive. Normally, he just drank spring water—he’d never eaten anything else.
That old saying—a loving heart is full even just with water—that was totally him.
Jiang Yunhe thought for a moment but couldn’t figure out how to explain. “Fish food” was just food for fish, right? But even if she said that, he probably still wouldn’t get it.
So she gave up on explaining.
Instead, she walked to the spring and broke the cucumber into little pieces to feed him.
Hongli didn’t hesitate—he opened wide and chomped down.
One feeding, one eating—both were having a great time!
While they were eating, Jiang Yunhe noticed something strange. The cucumber she had just picked? A new one had already sprouted in its place! It was still tiny, with a little yellow flower on the end—fresh as could be.
“What’s going on here?”
“Oh, regeneration! Everything here grows back after you pick it. It just takes a bit of time. Also, the growth rate is several times faster than the outside world.”
“So… what kind of treasure is this?!” Jiang Yunhe was shocked. She looked down at herself—Oh no, what if by the time I leave, I’ve already become an old lady?!
Hongli, sensing her thoughts, lost control and plunged into the spring.
He had no words for this imaginative master of his.
Jiang Yunhe reached out to fish him out—then paused. He was a fish, after all. He wasn’t going to die or anything. No need for her to worry too much.
With that thought, she relaxed a lot.
“You okay?”
“Uh… Master, maybe you should try drinking some of the spring water,” Hongli said eagerly. “Your constitution’s still too weak. If you want to earn virtue, you’ve got a long way to go!”
Jiang Yunhe followed his suggestion. She scooped up a handful. It looked like cold water, but the moment it touched her lips, it became warm—just right for drinking.
Honestly? It felt a little magical.
Just for this spring water, she’d give this place a five-star review.
“Can I give it to people outside? Can I take anything out?”
“Try it and see!” Hongli swirled around in the spring, smiling. “There’s lots of magical stuff here. Master will have to discover it slowly!”
“Okay,” Jiang Yunhe nodded. She tried to bring some water out. But then she wondered—what if, without a container, it spilled… all over the bed?!
Turned out she was overthinking it.
The moment she exited the space, she found herself holding a floating water bubble—just like the one Hongli had spit out earlier.
In her other hand was a piece of cucumber.
So… it was thanks to Hongli’s help that things were going so smoothly?
Jiang Yunhe stood up, climbed off the kang bed, and stretched. Even though she hadn’t really rested—she’d been busy the whole time—she still felt much more refreshed.
She felt light and full of energy. It was amazing!
“Thank you, Hongli.”
“No thanks, no thanks. Just tell me what you need to get. If you want to bring anything in, you can also tell me! Or, if it’s not convenient, we can communicate through thoughts.” Hongli said that he was very bored and it was a good opportunity to interact with her and help her. Otherwise, he would be idle anyway and would be bored.
With that happy thought, he rolled around in delight.
