Chapter 17: Take a Guess—Do You Think I Dare?
“You lied to me!”
“Was there a need to?”
“……”
Sun Meilin felt uneasy and immediately turned to run out.
Jiang Yunhe shrugged, looking a bit helpless.
Heh.
With that level of intelligence, if she really wanted to deal with her, it would be a piece of cake—nothing to worry about at all.
Watching her dash out the door, Jiang Yunhe leisurely went to wash up. The house was cold and the stove unused—no one had cooked, naturally, since it was usually her job.
But now…
Jiang Yunhe looked around but didn’t see Jiang Dazhuang anywhere. She guessed he’d probably gone drinking again and hadn’t come home all night. As for Sun Meilin—probably stayed out too, enjoying herself. Yet she had the nerve to play the victim just now…
No wonder the house had been so quiet last night.
Jiang Yunhe raised her brows slightly, a glint of amusement in her eyes. She turned and fetched two eggs from the chicken coop, lit the stove, and fried them.
Sun Meilin normally guarded these eggs like treasure, afraid she’d sneak one.
Well, today they’re in her hands!
That thought alone greatly improved her mood.
It wasn’t about the eggs—but what they symbolized.
Sun Meilin ran out fast, but she returned just as quickly. As soon as she stepped in, she saw Jiang Yunhe stuffing the last bite of egg into her mouth, the bowl still shiny with grease.
Heavens above!
Sun Meilin couldn’t care about anything else. She lunged forward and checked her stash.
“You little bitch, Jiang Yunhe! Were you born starving or something?! Spit that out right now—exactly how you ate it!”
“Spit it out? Doesn’t that sound disgusting?” Jiang Yunhe scoffed and, seeing Sun Meilin relatively calm, dumped a ladle of cold water on her: “What now, feel secure again? Think you’ve got the upper hand? Tell me—if Jiang Dazhuang found out you were messing around outside, cheating on him, what do you think he’d do?”
“If you break your word, I’ll kill you!” Sun Meilin was furious. She couldn’t understand how things had spiraled like this. How did this damn girl find out?!
The more she thought about it, the more convinced she was that Jiang Yunhe had been planning for this all along.
That’s why the moment things got dangerous, she shoved her into the fire—then even used it to control her.
Jiang Yunhe looked calm as she said, “Sun Meilin, let’s not play games. You know what you’ve done to me, and so do I. I only have one demand—until I get married, don’t mess with me. I’ll do whatever I want. And also, the 300 yuan dowry? Not a cent less. Got it?”
Sun Meilin: “……”
She’s really asking for a lot!
Last time she only mentioned wanting to marry Chu Peihan—never said she’d be allowed to do whatever she wanted, free of control.
Not that she cared anymore. Honestly, she wanted nothing more than to wash her hands of Jiang Yunhe’s affairs. Live or die, it was none of her business.
But this girl dared to threaten her!
Damn it!!!
“What about Wang Tiejiang…”
“If you want, you can marry him yourself,” Jiang Yunhe replied sincerely. Honestly, the two were a perfect match—a wolf and a weasel. Truly made for each other.
“Jiang. Yun. He!” Sun Meilin’s face turned green with rage. That match was meant for Jiang Yunhe, no way she was going to take it herself!
But Jiang Yunhe stood firm and fearless.
Looking at her livid face, she found it laughable. What? It’s okay for Sun Meilin to manipulate others but not for others to fight back? What kind of logic is that?
If she thought Jiang Yunhe was easy to bully, she really was blind.
“Sun Meilin, you wouldn’t want me to go find Fang Mianmian, would you?”
“Don’t you dare!” Sun Meilin’s expression changed instantly at the name. Her eyes bulged like they were about to pop out. She looked downright terrifying.
“Take a guess—do you think I dare?” Jiang Yunhe asked with a hint of a smirk. Hah, so she was colluding with Fang Mianmian. Shameless.
Could it be… she wasn’t Sun Meilin’s biological daughter?
She had wondered about it in her past life. After all, Jiang Chenglong was treated so well—could they really have been that heartless just because she was a girl?
She’d even secretly done a DNA test.
Unfortunately, she was their daughter. She really did carry the filthy blood of that pair.
Remembering the past, Jiang Yunhe’s mood darkened again.
Sun Meilin instinctively took a step back, clearly a little afraid that Jiang Yunhe might suddenly lash out like a lunatic.
And she was the kind to hit when angry—once you started, it was hard to stop.
“Jiang Yunhe, calm down. Fang Mianmian’s not just anybody—she’s pampered in the Fang family. If anything happened to her here in our village, the Jiang family wouldn’t let you off the hook.”
“Oh really?” Jiang Yunhe curled her lips faintly. She’d love to see what the Fang family could really do. Would they really throw away their dignity over Fang Mianmian?
Sun Meilin was visibly tense but dared not say too much, afraid that one slip of the tongue would ruin everything.
Jiang Yunhe ignored her. Some things were best kept in her own heart. What to do, how to do it—that was her business. Had nothing to do with Sun Meilin.
Sun Meilin, Jiang Dazhuang, even Fang Mianmian—none of them would escape.
“Wash the dishes. And the bedding. Otherwise…”
“When exactly are you getting married?!” Sun Meilin gritted her teeth, following a few steps behind her, wishing she could drive her out of the house that very moment.
That way, everything would be settled.
“Depends on my mood,” Jiang Yunhe said casually. No way she’d reveal what she was really thinking. She’d do whatever she pleased.
Sun Meilin narrowed her eyes but didn’t press further.
Once out of the house, Jiang Yunhe felt a refreshing lightness. Even the air seemed cleaner. She was sure Sun Meilin now hated her to the core.
Probably already planning with Fang Mianmian on how to strike back.
But that was fine.
Acting later had its own advantages.
As she walked, Jiang Yunhe stretched lazily. She felt great. She had already paid Wang Tiejiang a visit—now it was time to check on the results.
After all, the trap she set last night had to be evaluated.
Hopefully…
Wang Tiejiang wouldn’t be dumb enough to land himself in jail.
And there was also the village chief to consider.
Thinking of the village’s customs, Jiang Yunhe reached a fork in the road—just then, someone suddenly shoved her hard, pulling her into a narrow alley. At the same time, a hand clamped tightly over her mouth.
Who?!
