Chapter 875: Xiao Bao’s Poisoning

After returning home, Xiao Bao went straight to his study and didn’t come out until dinner.

Su Yu was surprised to see that Xiao Bao hadn’t come out for dinner. “Where’s Xiao Bao?”

“He’s in the study.”

“He went straight to the study after coming back from the academy today and didn’t let anyone in,” Xiao Zhi added.

Su Yu furrowed his brow and looked at Xiao Zhi. “What happened?”

Xiao Zhi and Ming Feiyang explained the situation to Su Yu.

After listening, Su Yu got up and went to the study. “I’ll go check on Xiao Bao.”

Su Yu knocked lightly on the door of the study.

After waiting for a while without hearing any response from Xiao Bao, Su Yu said, “Xiao Bao, it’s time for dinner. Come out.”

Still, there was no response from inside. Su Yu’s expression turned slightly cold as he raised his hand and pushed the door open.

As soon as he entered, he was greeted by a faint smell of blood.

Turning his head, Su Yu saw Xiao Bao lying on the ground, blood stains at the corner of his mouth, and his complexion slightly purplish-blue.

Su Yu was startled and hurried over to lift Xiao Bao up.

Carrying Xiao Bao out, Yuan Bao came walking towards them. Seeing Xiao Bao in this state, he asked, “Young Master Xiao Bao, what happened?”

“Go and fetch Wan Gu, Bai Qi and Nan Qiao,” Su Yu said with a grim expression.

“Yes.”

Yuan Bao quickly ran out, calling, “Nan Qiao, Bai Qi, Wan Gu, come with me.”

Nan Qiao and Bai Qi were in the middle of a dispute over a chicken leg. Upon hearing Yuan Bao’s urgency, Nan Qiao asked in surprise, “What’s going on?”

Whatever it was, it must be serious if Yuan Bao was this anxious.

“Xiao Bao fainted in the study.”

“What? Bai Qi and Nan Qiao left,” as soon as the words were spoken, Nan Qiao had already dashed out.

Wang Jinhe came out and saw Nan Qiao and the others leaving in a hurry. “What’s going on with Nan Qiao and the others?”

“Mother, Uncle Yuan Bao just came and said Xiao Bao fainted in the study,” Xiao Zhi said anxiously.

The dish in Wang Jinhe’s hand fell to the ground. “Xiao Bao fainted? How could he suddenly faint?”

“I don’t know. Uncle Nan Qiao and the others have all gone there now.”

“We’ll go take a look too,” Wang Jinhe said, leading several children to Xiao Bao’s room.

When they arrived, Wan Gu and Bai Qi were examining Xiao Bao.

After examining Xiao Bao’s pulse, both of them frowned at each other. Su Yu looked at them anxiously. “What’s going on?”

“Brother Yu, Xiao Bao has been poisoned,” Bai Qi said with a grim expression.

Su Yu’s eyes narrowed. “Poisoned?”

“Yes, it’s a particularly torturous poison. When it takes effect, it can make Xiao Bao suffer immensely,” Bai Qi said solemnly.

“Very well.” Xiao Bao was fine before, but suddenly being poisoned upon returning today was no coincidence in Su Yu’s eyes.

“Tell Yuan Bao to investigate. We must find the culprit at any cost,” anyone who dared to harm Xiao Bao would face the consequences.

“Yes.”

After Yuan Bao left, Su Yu turned to Bai Qi and Wan Gu. “How is Xiao Bao? Can the poison be neutralized?”

“No problem, but it might be a bit troublesome. Wan Gu, Nan Qiao, and I will research and prepare the antidote for Xiao Bao.”

“Good. Let me know if you need anything.”

Wang Jinhe walked in and looked at Xiao Bao lying on the bed with a purple complexion. Her face turned pale. “How is Xiao Bao?”

This is their first child, which holds extraordinary significance for both her and Su Yu. If something were to happen to the child, she dared not imagine what she and Su Yu would do.

“Xiao Bao has been poisoned, but with Bai Qi and the others here, he’ll be fine.” With Bai Qi, Wan Gu, and Nan Qiao present, she didn’t need to worry. Any one of them was skilled in dealing with poison, so Xiao Bao was in capable hands.

“Who could have harmed Xiao Bao?”

“Yuan Bao has already taken people to investigate. I believe we’ll have news soon. Jinhe, don’t worry.”

Wang Jinhe looked at Xiao Bao, who was unconscious, feeling somewhat helpless. “How can I not worry?”

The child is still unconscious, and as a mother, there’s no reason for her not to worry.

“Don’t worry, our Xiao Bao will be fine,” Su Yu reassured Wang Jinhe.

Wang Jinhe clenched her lips tightly, lost in thought.

Su Yu walked over, putting an arm around Wang Jinhe, and asked, “What are you thinking?”

“I’m wondering how Xiao Bao was poisoned.” If it had happened earlier, Bai Qi and the others would have noticed Xiao Bao’s condition during their daily interactions.

If it happened today while Xiao Bao was at the academy, how did they manage it?

Su Yu was also pondering this question. “We’ll have to wait for Yuan Bao to return before we know more.”

Wang Jinhe’s face darkened with anger. “Damn bastards dared to lay a hand on Xiao Bao. I won’t let them get away with it.”

Su Yu remained silent. Even if Wang Jinhe hadn’t voiced it, he wouldn’t let those behind this go unpunished.

Wang Jinhe sat beside Xiao Bao, gently touching his face. “Xiao Bao feels so cold.”

Su Yu walked over and reached out to touch Xiao Bao’s face. “Xiao Zhi, go and bring one of them here,” he instructed.

“Alright.” Xiao Zhi hurried to the pharmacy to find one of them.

“Uncle Nan Qiao, Xiao Bao suddenly feels ice-cold. Dad wants one of you to come and see what’s going on,” Xiao Zhi knocked on the door and informed them.

“I’ll go take a look,” said Wan Gu, setting aside the herbs in his hands and following Xiao Zhi to Xiao Bao’s room.

When Wan Gu approached, he could feel the cold emanating from Xiao Bao’s body.

He reached out and felt the bone-chilling cold.

“Damn it, it’s cold poison.” Cold poison was the most troublesome.

Every time it flared up, it felt like being pierced by ice.

“Xiao Bao has two types of poison in his body?”

Wan Gu nodded, his expression extremely grim. “Young Master, we need some herbs to counteract the cold poison.”

“Go and discuss with Bai Qi and the others. Give me a list of the herbs needed, and I’ll have someone fetch them immediately,” Su Yu wrapped Xiao Bao in a blanket, holding him in his arms as he spoke to Wan Gu.

“Understood.”

Wan Gu hurriedly left, and Wang Jinhe wanted to hold Xiao Bao, but Su Yu insisted otherwise. Xiao Bao’s body was too cold, and she was a woman; exposing herself to the cold would be detrimental to her health.

Su Yu insisted wound’t let her, Wang Jinhe could only reluctantly agree.

Sitting beside Xiao Bao, shivering from the cold, Wang Jinhe’s eyes were filled with distress.

Watching Xiao Bao in this state, Xiao Zhi felt a sense of self-blame. “It’s all my fault. If I had noticed earlier that Xiao Bao wasn’t right…”

Hearing Xiao Zhi’s self-reproach, Wang Jinhe stood up and walked over to him, reaching out to embrace him. “Don’t blame yourself. It’s not your fault.”

Xiao Zhi wasn’t trained in medicine. Even if he had noticed something was wrong with Xiao Bao earlier when they returned today, he would have thought it was because of Hou Shijie’s affair and wouldn’t have thought about Xiao Bao being poisoned.

“Xiao Zhi, don’t blame yourself for everything. You don’t know about Xiao Bao’s condition because you’re not skilled in medicine,” Su Yu comforted Xiao Zhi as she held Xiao Bao.

This child is too thoughtful. Even if he have forgotten some things, his personality remained the same.
