Chapter 122: Gaining a New System Mission, Attempting to Propose a New (Part 2/3)

While eating, the two shared a joyful conversation. After the meal, Tang Feng took Su Xiaoli to the bedroom, where he had her lie down on the bed to start the moxibustion treatment. Holding a lit moxa stick, he moved it gently above Su Xiaoli’s body, providing a sense of warmth. Su Xiaoli, feeling extremely comfortable, eventually fell asleep during the process. After completing the moxibustion, Tang Feng covered her with a thin blanket and then returned to his study to continue working on his problems.

After some time, Su Xiaoli woke up, feeling a sense of happiness upon seeing the blanket over her. She tiptoed to the study room’s door, only for Tang Feng to open it before she could knock.

“I didn’t disturb your work, did I?” Su Xiaoli asked, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

“No,” Tang Feng shook his head, “I was stuck on a problem and decided to take a break.”

“When are we heading back to the dorm?” Su Xiaoli inquired.

Checking the time and realizing it was already 9 p.m., Tang Feng responded, “Let’s go, I’ll walk you back.”

They then left the villa. Upon reaching Su Xiaoli’s apartment entrance, Tang Feng kissed her forehead, and with a reluctant goodbye, Su Xiaoli went upstairs. Tang Feng headed back to the dormitory, initially planning to return to the villa but decided against it, considering the unlikely completion of the new conjecture overnight and preferring to check on Su Ming and the others.

Upon his return, Su Ming and the rest paused their studies to greet him.

“Where have you been all day? We didn’t see you,” Su Ming asked with interest.

“I spent the day at the villa,” Tang Feng replied.

“By yourself?” Zhu Zihang inquired.

“No, with Xiaoli,” Tang Feng answered.

“You two spent the whole day alone?” Su Ming appeared surprised.

“What’s the issue with spending a day together?” Tang Feng asked with a smile.

“No problem,” Su Ming shook his head, mentioning that there was a selection test organized by their department that day.

“Really? How did you guys do?” Tang Feng asked, showing keen interest.

“I think I did alright. I should have no problem getting into the next round,” Zhang Hao responded confidently.

“I’m a bit uncertain. The competition included both undergraduate and graduate students,” Su Ming shared his concerns.

“I guess it’s tough for me too. It’s not that we didn’t try hard, but the competition is just too strong,” Su Ming looked somewhat dejected.

“No matter what, as long as you’ve done your best, that’s enough. Even if you don’t make it into the math group, you can still accompany me to activities. I’ve decided,” Tang Feng reassured them.

“Really? Being able to learn alongside so many excellent minds would definitely boost our abilities,” Su Ming was visibly excited.

“Of course! I’m in charge of the math research group. If I can’t make these decisions, then who can?” Tang Feng remarked, somewhat amused.

“Right! But once the math research group is established, will all members need to come to Jingcheng University?” Zhu Zihang asked.

“I haven’t decided yet. To achieve quick results, it’s best to gather together. Being too dispersed would defeat the purpose of the research group,” Tang Feng explained.

“Wouldn’t Tsinghua University object if it’s based at Jingcheng University?” Su Ming worried.

“I don’t think so. The math research group isn’t affiliated with any university. It belongs to the China Mathematicians Association,” Tang Feng clarified.

“Can people at our level become members of the association?” Zhang Hao eagerly asked.

“What do you think?” Tang Feng retorted.

“Definitely not,” Zhang Hao replied.

“The membership of the China Mathematicians Association is very exclusive, with only about a hundred new members accepted annually. Once you make significant achievements, the association will naturally invite you,” Tang Feng encouraged.

“With your capabilities, could you be a vice president?” Su Ming speculated.

“Do you think that’s possible? Even if I excel in mathematics, my age and experience are limiting factors,” Tang Feng explained.

“In this era, why adhere to seniority? Besides, you have good relationships with Professor Qiu and Professor Gao. I think your position within the association could be quite high,” Su Ming suggested.

“We’ll see. Do you have any other questions? If not, I’m going to wash up and sleep,” Tang Feng concluded.

“Of course, we do!” Su Ming and the others quickly brought out their questions, which Tang Feng helped to solve. Afterward, he washed up and went to bed, not immediately falling asleep as he texted Su Xiaoli back and forth for a while.

Eventually, Tang Feng fell asleep. The next morning, as he and Su Xiaoli were having breakfast, Gao Cheng called, inviting Tang Feng to check the recent training results of the university basketball team.

“Do you guys have classes this morning?” Tang Feng asked.

“We do, but we took leave for the competition,” Gao Cheng explained.

“In that case, see you at the basketball court!” Tang Feng agreed.

After breakfast, Tang Feng escorted Su Xiaoli to her faculty building before heading to the basketball court, where Gao Cheng and others awaited him. Tang Feng inspected their recent training progress.

“Your basketball skills have now surpassed those of the Sports department. If you were to compete again, you’d surely sweep them,” Tang Feng confidently stated.
