Chapter 4
Liu Ming didn’t know why Su Ya wanted to go there. If she just wanted to go out of curiosity, she could choose to go during the day.
But if it is because of dissatisfaction with his work results, he cannot accept it.
Obviously, Su Ya also saw the intention of Liu Ming’s question.
“Well, I just want to exercise myself.”
After hearing what Su Ya said, Liu Ming felt that since he couldn’t find any evidence, Su Ya certainly wouldn’t be able to find anything either, so it would be better to let her go out and see the world.
Afterwards, Liu Ming generously handed his toolbox to Su Ya.
Su Ya knew that she didn’t have much time left, so she simply thanked Liu Ming and went up the mountain.
After she reached the designated halfway point on the mountain, she walked around for a while before she found a weathered, dilapidated wooden house hidden in a corner.
The exterior walls of the wooden house had long lost their original color, and the wooden walls had become mottled due to the erosion of wind and rain, with some places even showing signs of decay.
The tiles on the roof were even more incomplete. No wonder a heavy rain could flood the house and wash away important evidence.
Su Ya saw that the door of the wooden house was half open, and she thought that Liu Ming must have not closed it tightly when he came to check the situation and left.
She turned on the flashlight and pushed the door open, and the door hinges creaked.
As she walked into the house, Su Ya felt a stale atmosphere.
Su Ya used a flashlight to briefly scan the interior of the house and found that the furnishings in this small space were simple and messy.
When the flashlight shone on the right wall, Su Ya noticed a curtain that seemed to be used to separate the bedroom and the living room. I didn’t expect that such a shabby wooden house would have one bedroom and one living room.
She lifted the tattered curtain, walked into the bedroom, and used the flashlight to illuminate the dark room one by one.
There was a tattered wooden bed leaning against the corner of the bedroom. The bedding on the bed was very worn out, and the quilts were piled together randomly. It could be imagined that the deceased was not a particular person.
Su Ya saw that there was a rickety wooden table next to the bed, on which was placed an oil lamp and a blunt pencil.
Perhaps because the wooden walls were somewhat airy, the walls around the wooden bed and wooden table were wrapped with layer upon layer of old newspapers.
When the flashlight shone on the small wooden table that was about to collapse, Su Ya keenly noticed that a piece of the newspaper behind the wooden table was torn off.
She walked closer and found that the tear marks were very white, which must have been torn off recently.
Su Ya felt that such a delicate job as tearing newspapers could not be done wearing gloves. That is to say, the remaining newspapers were likely to have fingerprints of the person who tore the newspapers.
However, fingerprints on newspapers cannot be brushed out with powder, but with ninhydrin. She was not sure whether Liu Ming had this thing in his toolbox.
Su Ya opened the toolbox with trepidation, rummaged through it, and found no colorless, transparent liquid.
She was a little depressed.
If there was no ninhydrin now, she would have to cut off the newspaper near the tear, take it back, find ninhydrin, and spray it on the newspaper to make the fingerprints appear.
However, if you rashly intercept the fingerprint without knowing where it is, it is very likely to destroy the complete fingerprint.
Just as she lifted the toolbox layer, she found a small spray bottle underneath with the words “Ninhydrin” written on it.
Fortunately it was a false alarm.
Su Ya immediately sprayed the reagent on the torn newspaper, and sure enough, there was a result!
She saw several complete fingerprints, a half-print of a palm, and of course, quite a few incomplete fingerprints.
Su Ya took out a magnifying glass from the toolbox again and carefully examined the fingerprint patterns. She was surprised to find that the fingerprints in front of her did not belong to the deceased.
After all, when she had just performed the autopsy, she had already extracted all of the deceased’s fingerprints and knew the characteristics of the deceased’s fingerprints.
Since it wasn’t the deceased’s, it was most likely the suspect’s. But why did the suspect tear off this piece of newspaper? Could it be… there was some important evidence in the newspaper?
Su Ya lowered her head and fell into thought.
At this moment, the pencil on the wooden table caught her attention.
Could it be that for some reason, the deceased recorded some important things in a hidden place, and these things happened to be important evidence that could convict the suspect.
In order to make a more accurate fingerprint comparison, Su Ya still has to take the newspapers with fingerprints back and compare them with the fingerprints and palm prints of the deceased again.
She took out a small blade from the toolbox, cut off the part with fingerprints and palm prints, and carefully put it into the toolbox.
After doing all this, she looked around again, wondering if there were any other contradictions.
But the bedroom is so small, and apart from this place, there is nothing particularly out of place.
She came out of the bedroom and checked the living room.
The situation in the living room is a bit tricky.
The bookshelf in one corner was clearly in a mess, but the wardrobe where money was easily hidden and the locked drawer underneath it had not been touched.
This shows that the purpose of the people who rummaged through the house was not for money, but most likely for disguise and to confuse the police.
Su Ya shook her head. This man was probably a little overconfident, otherwise he wouldn’t have thought that such a sloppy disguise could fool the police.
Basically, you can see through it at a glance without even having to think about it.
According to the results of the autopsy she just performed, the deceased’s hymen was intact and there were no other obvious external injuries on her body except for the marks on her neck.
This means that it is unlikely that this person was trying to rape someone.
Combined with the part of newspaper torn off by the suspect, Su Ya guessed that the suspect was most likely here to destroy evidence that might expose himself.
In addition to creating an illusion, he may have been rummaging through the bookshelf in search of something he thought might be key evidence.
What kind of key evidence should I look for on the bookshelf?
Su Ya couldn’t figure it out for a while.
She continued to observe the living room and found a dining table behind the entrance door. There seemed to be something covering the table.
Su Ya went over and lifted the cloth, and found several moldy dishes underneath. But what caught her eyes was not the food, but the plate on which the food was served.
These plates are great fingerprint carriers.
She immediately took out her brush and powder and tried to brush out the fingerprints on the plate.
As expected, she found some more. These looked familiar, most likely from the dead.
Afterwards, Su Ya looked at the window and the ground again, but found nothing else.
After coming out of the cabin, Su Ya walked around the cabin again, trying to look for possible traces such as footprints, but found nothing.
Just when Suya was about to go down the mountain, the weather turned bad and it started to rain.
At first, the rain was not heavy, so Su Ya quickened her pace down the mountain. But human speed can never catch up with the speed of nature.
Su Ya had not taken a few steps when the rain started to get heavier.
