Wang Jinhe looked at Xiao Bao’s pale face, her eyes filled with concern.
It had been three years since she first saw Xiao Bao, and she had never seen him look so unwell.
Walking over to Su Yu, she reached out and touched Xiao Bao’s face. “Xiao Bao, you have to get better soon.”
Xiao Bao looked at Wang Jinhe and nodded. “Mom, don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
No matter how uncomfortable he felt, seeing Wang Jinhe worry about him instinctively made him want to reassure her.
Wang Jinhe’s face showed a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. How could she not worry when Xiao Bao looked like this?
“Xiao Bao…”
“Mom, Uncle Wan Gu and the others are very capable. With them around, I’ll be fine,” Xiao Bao said earnestly, looking at Wang Jinhe.
Wang Jinhe tried to force a smile. “Yes, Uncle Wan Gu and the others are very capable. With them here, Xiao Bao will definitely be fine.”
Wang Jinhe wasn’t sure if she was comforting herself or Xiao Bao with these words.
“Xiao He, take Xiao Bao to his room to rest for a while.”
“Okay.”
The two of them stayed with Xiao Bao in the room until he fell asleep before leaving together.
They stood together in the garden, admiring the colorful flowers.
“Su Yu, what do you think of this place?” Wang Jinhe asked.
Su Yu looked around. “Our home is naturally the best.”
“Yeah, some people just have no tact, always looking to cause trouble for us.”
Su Yu was momentarily taken aback before bursting into laughter. “Since they dare to come looking for trouble, they naturally have to pay the price.”
Wang Jinhe turned to look at Su Yu beside her. “The Hou family won’t get away with this, and neither will the Lu Empire.”
“The reason they had the Hou family target Xiao Bao is obvious to us. We’re not stupid. How do they think we would beg for mercy and let them off the hook for Xiao Bao?” Wang Jinhe spoke calmly.
“They probably think we have no way to deal with the poison they have, so they think they can only get our son’s life by pleading with them,” Su Yu understood Wang Jinhe’s implication and couldn’t help but laugh at her disdain for those people.
As long as they could get what they wanted from them, they would do whatever it took, but harming a child was a small matter for them.
Wang Jinhe’s gaze grew cold, her mood turning sour as she looked at Su Yu beside her. “I’m still very angry.”
Su Yu walked over to Wang Jinhe and put his arm around her. “It won’t be long. If we can’t get back the principal, we’ll definitely get interest.”
Upon hearing Su Yu’s words, Wang Jinhe felt reassured. “Be careful tomorrow when you and Nan Qiao go to Nanjiang.”
“Don’t worry, nothing will happen.”
Glancing at Su Yu, Wang Jinhe didn’t say much more. Of course, she knew nothing major would happen. But just knowing made her feelings somewhat complicated.
“After Nan Qiao and I obtain the Red Fire Lotus, we’ll hurry back. This time, I plan to bring along three casks of my longest-aged wine.” Su Yu spoke up.
Wang Jinhe turned to look at Su Yu, surprised. “You’re willing to bring out your hidden wine?”
Since Nan Qiao and the others came, Su Yu hadn’t touched his hidden wine. Now, he was willing to bring out three casks. This was unexpectedly generous.
“Nan Qiao told me that his uncle loves drinking. My wine will surely make it easier for us to get the Red Fire Lotus.” The wine was originally prepared for the child.
Now that Xiao Bao needed it, Su Yu naturally wouldn’t be stingy.
“I see.” It was no wonder Su Yu could bring out three casks of wine at once.
“After I leave, if there’s anything, let Yuan Bao help you a bit. Xiao Bao has Wan Gu and Bai Qi watching over him here, so nothing will happen.” Su Yu, worried that Wang Jinhe would fret about Xiao Bao after he left, couldn’t help but ramble a bit.
Wang Jinhe nodded. “Don’t worry, I know what to do.”
The next morning, Su Yu and Nan Qiao went to Nanjiang together.
After they left, a letter for Xuan Feiran also arrived.
Xuan Feiran opened the letter and his expression immediately darkened.
Seeing Xuan Feiran’s sudden change in expression, Su Jiu was surprised. “What’s wrong, Your Majesty?”
“Xiao Bao was poisoned by someone from Lu Empire. One type of poison has been neutralized, but we still need to find ingredients for the cold poison. Xiao Yu sent back a list of medicinal ingredients and wants to see if we have them here.”
“What?” Hearing that Xiao Bao was poisoned, Su Jiu hurried over to Xuan Feiran’s side to look at the letter in his hand.
After reading it, Su Jiu’s gaze turned slightly cold. “Lu Empire really stops at nothing to obtain what Wang Jinhe and Xiao Yu have.”
“Who could argue with that? The medicinal herbs are in the hands of Nan Qiao’s uncle. They should already be on their way to Nanjiang.”
“We need to help Xiao Yu find the remaining medicinal ingredients.”
“Agreed. Fetch the person in charge of the Imperial Pharmacy.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
It didn’t take long for the person to arrive. “I pay my respects to Your Majesty.”
“Come and see if we have these medicinal ingredients.”
He quickly got up and went to examine the list of medicinal ingredients in Xuan Feiran’s hand.
After looking through it, he spoke up, “Apart from the Red Fire Lotus, Seven Star Seed, and two other herbs, we have all the others.”
Su Jiu’s eyes lit up with joy. “That’s fantastic.”
“The Red Fire Lotus has already been arranged, and Xiao Yu’s side will surely find the remaining three items.”
“Prepare two portions of each.”
“Yes.”
“A Jiu, after the herbs are prepared on their end, take them over to Xiao He and them. I don’t trust anyone else to go. If anything happens over there, lend a hand. And as for that Hou family, deal with them directly.” Xuan Feiran issued his orders.
The Hou family dared to harm Xiao Bao, indicating their significant ties to Lu Empire.
“Understood.”
About an hour later, the herbs were delivered. Su Jiu informed Xuan Feiran before taking the herbs back.
“Ningning, tidy up. We’re going to Xiao He’s place,” Su Jiu said upon returning home and seeing Ming Wanning.
“We’re going to Xiao He’s place? Did His Majesty permit you to go?”
“It’s His Majesty who permitted me.”
Ming Wanning became even more curious. “What happened? His Majesty allowed you to go?”
Su Jiu briefly explained Xiao Bao’s poisoning to Ming Wanning. After hearing it, Ming Wanning frowned. “Lu Empire is shameless. Regarding the Seven Star Seeds, my father has some. Let’s return for a day and have my father give us some.”
“Alright.” Finding another herb was definitely a pleasant surprise for Su Jiu.
The two went to the Ming residence and explained their purpose to the family head. Learning that the Seven Star Seeds were needed by Su Yu’s side, the family head didn’t hesitate and handed over all the few Seven Star Seeds they had.
“We don’t know how much they’ll need. Take them all.”
