Chapter 4: How to Be a Mother
“Biological mother,” Zhuo Le said with indifferent eyes, “The child has a long future ahead of him, and there will be plenty of opportunities to eat good food and wear good clothes.
I’m not going to make it, I live one day less, shouldn’t I take advantage of the present to eat, wear, and play more?”
The old lady was stunned by her remarks, “What are you talking about? The child is so young, if you don’t take good care of him, aren’t you afraid that he won’t take care of you when you’re old?”
Zhuo Le raised her eyebrows and looked at the two chickens in her hand, “You’re already old, has your son taken care of you?”
The old lady tensed up and turned her face away, “I can still move, I don’t need my son to take care of me.”
Zhuo Le chuckled, “So, the son you raised for a lifetime can only enjoy a few days of filial piety when he’s lying in bed and can’t move?
So, that’s how you should be a mother?
Then sorry, I don’t really like your way of being a mother.
As for me, I want to enjoy the blessings early, and I can’t put my hope in an uncertain future.
What if my son isn’t filial in the future, wouldn’t I be at a great loss in this life?”
Wei Xiaojia hurriedly expressed his feelings, “Mommy, I will definitely always be filial to you, I’ll give you the eggs to eat, and I’ll give you the chicken to eat. I’m still young, and I’ll have plenty of opportunities to eat in the future.
When I make money, I’ll buy a lot of delicious food for Mommy, and I won’t let Mommy save the chicken for me to eat when she’s old.”
Zhuo Le gratifyingly pinched her son’s little face, “Baby is so good, thank you baby.”
Wei Xiaojia was embarrassed again.
The old lady looked at the chicken in her hand. She used to feel very proud when she held it in her hand, but now she felt like a hot potato.
Her son worked in the provincial capital, and would ask her for chickens, eggs, and food every now and then. She always happily sent them over, and she was very satisfied that her son needed her.
She could ignore the disgust in her daughter-in-law’s fake smile, and the fact that her grandsons and granddaughters wouldn’t even let her touch them, because they thought she was dirty, for the sake of this little bit of satisfaction.
The villagers all said that she had a good life, her son was promising and married a city wife, and she had face.
But she knew that those people were secretly mocking her for raising a son who could only earn money and then ran to the city to be someone else’s son.
She was like an old servant, serving her son until he grew up, and she still had to support her daughter-in-law’s family.
She used to think that those people were just jealous, but now that she thought about it, they seemed to be simply mocking her.
Seeing that the old lady was speechless, others didn’t dare to casually evaluate Zhuo Le’s way of raising her son for a while.
They couldn’t say it was right, and they couldn’t say it was wrong. Anyway, a lifetime of cognition was engaging in a battle between heaven and man with newly encountered ideas.
Except for the restless cries of the livestock, no one spoke in the car. Zhuo Le was happy to be quiet and closed her eyes to doze off.
Wei Xiaojia took out a thin blanket from the package, covered Zhuo Le, patted the dust on his body, carefully squeezed into Zhuo Le’s arms, and closed his eyes.
Zhuo Le reached out and hugged the little man, and Mountain King lay at the feet of the mother and son, dutifully guarding the people and the luggage.
“Woo…” Mountain King warned in a low voice.
Zhuo Le opened her eyes and saw a man with a pointed mouth and monkey cheeks reaching into their package. After being warned by Mountain King, he was so frightened that he quickly retracted his hand, and then showed a fierce look to Mountain King unwillingly.
Zhuo Le reached out and patted Mountain King’s head. Mountain King rubbed against her palm and stopped whimpering.
The man snorted coldly, “You brought such a fierce animal on the train, can you take responsibility if something happens?”
Zhuo Le looked over, “What responsibility do I need to take?”
The man shouted angrily, “Don’t you have to be responsible if it bites someone?”
Zhuo Le, “Mountain King doesn’t bite people, only thieves.”
The man became angry from embarrassment, “Bitch, you’re looking for death.”
He raised his palm and slapped Zhuo Le’s face.
Mountain King suddenly stood up, raised his paw and slapped it over, hitting the man’s arm that was slapping down, and it swelled up instantly.
The man howled in pain and wanted to continue attacking, but Mountain King suddenly stood up, bared its fangs, and growled a warning.
Its half-person-high, massive size was extremely oppressive.
The man’s heart skipped a beat, and he turned and ran, not forgetting to utter harsh words: You just wait.
The others in the car were also frightened by Mountain King’s ferocity and retreated one after another.
The crowded car abruptly cleared a large area in front of Zhuo Le, her son, and the dog.
Zhuo Le tugged at Mountain King’s ears, and Mountain King whimpered softly, shook its fur, and continued to lie at Zhuo Le’s feet.
But the others still didn’t dare to approach and stayed far away.
Zhuo Le didn’t care, patted the little崽子 who was sleeping soundly in her arms, and turned to look out the window.
Almost to the provincial capital.
Quick, it’s right there. That beast is very fierce. It slapped my hand swollen with one paw, and its fangs are longer than chopsticks. Its open mouth can swallow a whole head.
Zhuo Le turned her head and saw the man with the pointed mouth and monkey cheeks approaching quickly with several railway police officers.
The railway police officers had serious expressions and held batons. Facing Mountain King’s massive size, they were all as if facing a formidable enemy.
Probably influenced by the man with the pointed mouth and monkey cheeks, they felt that Mountain King was extremely vicious.
Mountain King’s bicolored eyes, one blue and one brown, coldly glanced at the people coming and lay on the ground, unmoved.
Wei Xiaojia was awakened, rubbed his eyes, came out of Zhuo Le’s arms, and lay on Mountain King’s back.
He rubbed his little face against Mountain King’s thick fur and mumbled, Pee-pee.
Mountain King got up, intending to carry the little thing to the toilet.
As soon as Mountain King moved, the railway police officers subconsciously tightened their batons.
Zhuo Le called out to the man and dog: Son, hold on, we’ll be stopping soon. We’ll take care of it at the station.
Okay. The man and dog stopped, and the train also stopped just right.
Zhuo Le put her bag on her back and put Wei Xiaojia’s bag on his back, and walked towards the door.
The man with the pointed mouth and monkey cheeks subconsciously retreated and pushed the railway police officers: Don’t just stand there, go, beat this beast to death, don’t let it run away.
The railway police officer coldly glanced at the man, and the man smiled awkwardly: I’m just worried that it will hurt someone.
Zhuo Le looked at them: Excuse me, we’re getting off the train.
The leading railway police officer saw that Mountain King didn’t bite people indiscriminately as the man said and was slightly relieved.
But based on the fact that it was too large, he couldn’t help but remind: Comrade, it’s better to keep an eye on your dog. Once it hurts someone, the consequences will be very serious.
Zhuo Le’s gaze lingered on Mountain King for a moment, and she said: It’s a descendant of police dogs. Its mother is still on duty. It’s very smart and won’t bite people, only thieves. You might as well check this man. He has a watch in his pocket that shouldn’t belong to him.
Being a descendant of police dogs had already cleared Mountain King of suspicion, and the fear in their eyes became softer.
Hearing Zhuo Le accurately say the dirty thing in the man’s pocket, the railway police officer instantly became alert and looked at the man.
The man ran away as soon as Zhuo Le spoke.
What else was there to question? It had already been confirmed.
Two railway police officers chased after him, and the leading railway police officer stayed behind: We are very sorry for the trouble we have brought to the comrade. We are on a mission, so please understand. I don’t know if it’s convenient to see the comrade’s letter of introduction.
Zhuo Le didn’t find it inconvenient and gave him the letter.
It clearly stated that she was going to collect the belongings of her sacrificed husband. The railway police officer was immediately in awe, as she was the widow of a martyr.
Condolences.
The railway police officer returned the letter of introduction and saluted Zhuo Le.
Zhuo Le’s expression was indifferent, condolences?
