Chapter 11 Even if You Have a Thick Skin
“Fine, you’re shameless. Just you wait.”
Wen Yanyan stood up abruptly and shouted loudly.
“Hey! Everyone passing by, come and take a look! Don’t miss this explosive news! Zhang Meimei, this woman, coveted my husband, Nan Tuan, and even plotted to destroy our family, instructing me to put drugs in Nan Tuan’s water…”
“Yanyan!”
Zhang Meimei’s eyes instantly sharpened. “Don’t talk nonsense! I didn’t!”
“Didn’t what? Didn’t you covet my husband, or didn’t you trick me into putting drugs in his water?”
She intentionally confused the issue.
“Nothing! Wen Yanyan, you drama queen, go crazy by yourself. I can’t be bothered with you.”
Seeing several people walking towards them, Zhang Meimei threw down a sentence heavily, stood up to leave, but Wen Yanyan quickly grabbed her arm, smiling evilly.
“Don’t go, let’s clarify things today! It doesn’t matter who spread the rumors, what matters is who planned the poisoning!”
She chose this outdoor location to expose Zhang Meimei’s hypocrisy in front of everyone. Who would hear them arguing inside?
“Wen Yanyan, you’re ungrateful!”
She hissed, her eyes cold.
“Are you sure there was any gratitude?”
Wen Yanyan scoffed.
If she hadn’t transmigrated and possessed this body, even if the original owner hadn’t died, she would have been schemed out of everything by Zhang Meimei! The original owner’s bad reputation was all thanks to you!
By now, the entrance to the medical clinic, under her loud announcement, had gathered many people: several military wives, children who weren’t in school, and even a few soldiers were watching.
However, no one had a gloating expression; instead, their faces were serious, their gazes probing, whispering to each other.
“What’s going on? Why are they fighting?”
“Aren’t they good friends? Who knows what happened?”
“I just got here, I don’t know.”
“I only heard half a sentence, something about destroying a family, putting drugs in water…”
“Ah!”
Zhang Meimei suddenly screamed, covering her ears and closing her eyes.
“Everyone, judge for yourselves, I didn’t do anything, but she insists I admit it. What am I supposed to say? Yanyan, we were good friends, you’re bullying me too much.”
She squatted down, “Wuuu…” sobbing softly, her shoulders shaking.
Regardless of the era, weakness and pity can evoke sympathy and protectiveness from those who don’t know the full story.
Immediately.
“Hey! Mrs. Nan Tuan, why are you bullying Nurse Zhang? Don’t think you can get away with it just because Nan Tuan isn’t home.”
Someone started to speak up for Zhang Meimei.
Wen Yanyan, having reason on her side, wasn’t afraid. She explained, “I’m not bullying her, what I said is the truth. That day, she…”
“Wen Yanyan! You’re ungrateful! I always protected you!”
Zhang Meimei cried and then shouted angrily.
Wen Yanyan almost laughed.
“Okay, okay, come on, stand up and tell me, how did you protect me? Just name one or two things, and I’ll thank you, okay?”
Wen Yanyan wanted to be ungrateful, but there had to be gratitude first. Otherwise, carrying this bad reputation wouldn’t be unfair.
On the way to the clinic, she heard people gossiping about her.
Calling her ugly and shameless, saying she put that kind of drug in the water.
They also said that her husband had just returned from a mission, tired and sleepy, and she was so cruel to him.
They also said, “There’s no land that can’t be plowed, only oxen that die from overwork,” and finally, “A toad wants to eat swan meat!”
Just because of the drug incident, she had become a toad covered in bumps!
“You! You! You! Wuuu…”
Zhang Meimei stammered for a long time, her face flushed red, unable to say anything, and started crying again.
“See, you can’t say anything, right? Although we are friends, you smiled on the surface but secretly called me stupid, right? Fine, if you don’t say it, then I will.”
Wen Yanyan planned to deliver the final blow.
She didn’t believe that after this incident, if Zhang Meimei still had the face to stay here as a nurse, then she must have a really thick skin!
