Chapter 27: Setting Up a Stall to Draw
On the train, the returning crew seemed very tired. Everyone was too exhausted to talk and laugh. Within ten minutes of boarding, they were all asleep.
Only Zhuo Le and her son had just taken a nap and were returning with the crew, so they were very energetic.
Mountain King, as a dog, had to support two people, so he was also quite tired. He lay down at the feet of the mother and son, snoring in his sleep.
Everyone was sleeping, so the mother and son didn’t want to talk, and just quietly read books.
There was a small station between Nanshan Station and Dongzhou Station where the train would stop for about twenty minutes.
When Zhuo Le rested her eyes and looked outside, she happened to see the person she had drawn boarding the train.
This person was seventy percent similar to the portrait, and she wasn’t sure if he was the suspect.
“Son, follow Mom.”
Wei Xiaojia raised his head: “Mom, where are we going?”
“Just strolling around.”
The little guy put away his book and followed.
Mountain King heard the movement and woke up, wanting to follow, but Zhuo Le patted his head: “Keep sleeping, we’ll be back soon.”
Mountain King lay down again.
The mother and son slowly went to the next car. Not many people were getting on and off at this station, so it wasn’t crowded.
In the crowd, Zhuo Le quickly found the man who had just boarded the train.
She walked a little further and found a train attendant: “Hello, I have something I want to tell you.”
The train attendant took the matter of the man possibly being a suspect very seriously, and said that they would find someone to keep an eye on him and notify the Nanshan police station.
Zhuo Le successfully retreated and returned to the car.
Half an hour before getting off the train, the crew members woke up one after another.
A little over an hour wasn’t enough to make up for sleep, but it could refresh them, and they didn’t look so tired.
After getting off the train, the two people and a dog separated from the crew. Hu Shuo said that they would rest for a day tomorrow, and film in the ancient town outside Dongzhou City the day after tomorrow. They would need to film there for three days, and Mountain King would finish filming.
Zhuo Le decided to make something delicious for Mountain King tomorrow, so they would eat out tonight.
The ancient town in Dongzhou City was very crowded and lively, not only with tourists, but also with many film crews, especially film crews for historical dramas.
This place had almost become a “Hengdian” dedicated to film crews.
Early the next morning, Zhuo Le got up early, which was rare, and took a taxi to the ancient town.
This ancient town was quite large, with ten main streets crisscrossing it, covering an area of more than 5,000 acres. It was built on a mountain, and rivers ran through it, so the environment was very good.
The buildings inside were all ancient buildings that had been preserved with great effort, pavilions, terraces, towers, streets, alleys, and large houses with several courtyards, all with ancient charm, so they were very suitable for filming historical dramas.
Some modern dramas and period dramas with suitable plots were also suitable.
When the two people and a dog arrived, they didn’t see any acquaintances. There were so many people and so many film crews, and they didn’t know how to find them, so they could only use the stupidest method and look for them one by one.
Fortunately, the film crews generally gathered in one area, so it didn’t take much effort to find them.
When Zhuo Le found them, she happened to meet Fang Yuan who came out to pick them up. She entrusted Mountain King to him, and the mother and son began to play freely.
The ancient town was very fun, with food, games, and sights. The mother and son especially liked to eat.
There were many snacks in the ancient town, so they bought one of each at a stall, and the mother and son ate half and left half for Mountain King.
Mountain King wasn’t like a pet dog, where this couldn’t be eaten and that couldn’t be eaten, it would shed hair, it would get sick, etc. People ate whatever it ate, and nothing happened.
When the mother and son came out of a very beautiful pastry shop, Zhuo Le was suddenly handed a business card.
“Hello, miss, I’m a manager from Xingju Entertainment Company. Your image is very good, and you’re very suitable to be a model or an actress. If you can sing, you can also be a singer. Would you like to come to our company and try it out?”
Zhuo Le was stunned for a second and smiled: “What a coincidence, I’m also from an entertainment company. Our company is called Zaoxing Entertainment. I’ll call you when I have time, and we can share resources.” She shook the business card.
The man smiled awkwardly and left.
Wei Xiaojia looked at Zhuo Le: “Mom, when did you open a company? What is a company?”
Zhuo Le touched Wei Xiaojia’s head: “Son, you need to know that your identity is something you give yourself when you’re out and about.”
Wei Xiaojia???
The mother and son had had enough fun and slowly walked back.
At this time, all the film crews were filming in full swing, with atmospheres that were joyful, irritable, low, and impassioned…
There were also many tourists surrounding the area to watch the excitement.
The mother and son were both full and didn’t plan to freeload on the crew’s lunch, so they didn’t squeeze in.
It was still early and not yet nap time, so they didn’t plan to go to the inn booked by the crew to rest.
With nothing to do, Zhuo Le went to a stationery store next door and bought some sketching tools and a sketchbook. She also bought a piece of red paper, borrowed an oil pen from the boss, and wrote: Sketch portraits, one dollar each.
The main focus was on small profits and quick turnover.
She sat down in the shade under the eaves, and Wei Xiaojia was her little model.
The little guy opened his doggy eyes wide, with two small bags and a small water bottle hanging on his body, and sugar gourd crumbs on his face.
Zhuo Le drew very quickly, especially when drawing her own cub. In just three minutes, she produced a funny version of Wei Xiaojia with a big head and a small body.
She took out a seal and stamped it in the corner, then wrote the date and took it home to collect.
“Son, take the portrait and help Mom attract customers.”
Wei Xiaojia looked at the silly self in the portrait, his little face flushed: “Okay, Mom.”
When it came to doing serious things, the little guy wasn’t shy at all. He took small steps and shouted within a ten-meter radius: “Drawing portraits, drawing portraits, one dollar a picture, brothers and sisters, do you want to draw?”
There were seven or eight young brothers and sisters, around eighteen or nineteen years old, holding celebrity posters, who had come to chase stars.
Wei Xiaojia was cute and lovable, and young people were generally very caring and couldn’t bear to disappoint the little guy, so they asked with a smile, “Is it drawing this kind of picture?”
Wei Xiaojia held up his portrait. Perhaps because it was his first time doing business, he was still a little embarrassed, his little face flushed: “It’s this kind, this is drawn by my mom, my mom draws very well, it’s only one dollar a picture, brothers and sisters, do you want to draw?”
The young people weren’t short of money, otherwise they wouldn’t have run all the way here to chase stars.
One dollar a picture wasn’t expensive, so they jokingly asked Wei Xiaojia, “Is it one dollar for one piece of paper? Can we all be drawn on one piece of paper? Wouldn’t that be a loss for you?”
Wei Xiaojia was confused by the question, he didn’t understand: “I don’t know, I have to ask Mom.”
The group laughed: “Okay, we’ll go ask your mom.”
Wei Xiaojia quickly led the group towards Zhuo Le: “Mom, the brothers and sisters are asking if they can all be drawn on one piece of paper for only one dollar.”
Zhuo Le smiled and nodded: “Yes, you can.”
The young people were surprised for a moment when they saw Zhuo Le’s face. She didn’t look like a mom, she looked like a sister.
They were a little embarrassed that she agreed so readily.
“We were joking.”
“It’s okay, if you want to draw, I can draw a group photo for you, and only charge one dollar. It’s okay if you don’t want to draw.”
Since she had said that, the young people were thin-skinned and had to draw even if they didn’t want to, but they did want to draw. They liked Wei Xiaojia’s portrait very much.
“Um, sister, can you draw our group photo in the style of drawing the little brother?”
“Yes, you can also pose and make expressions.”
The group became interested and discussed how to pose, taking five minutes to decide.
“Like this, can sister draw it? How long will it take?”
Zhuo Le looked carefully for half a minute: “It’s okay, wait for me for ten minutes.”
The group looked at each other, was that it?
Unsure, they walked to Zhuo Le’s side and watched her move the pencil randomly on the drawing paper, and the resulting picture was also neither fish nor fowl. For a time, they couldn’t make up their minds whether she could draw at all.
Six minutes later, the doubt on the faces of the group turned into shock. The faces of eight people were already clear, and the movements and expressions were gradually in place.
When ten minutes were up, the drawing was finished, without spending any extra time.
“Take a look.”
